Tatum, Greer, Sloane, Hollis & Rory

what do you think of these bold choices? i tend to really enjoy them while others deem them not feminine enough. whats your take on them? and which ones do you prefer over the others?
any other names that are similar?

[name]Tatum[/name], [name]Greer[/name], [name]Sloane[/name], [name]Hollis[/name] & [name]Rory[/name]

i [name]LOVE[/name] them! i don’t really gravitate towards frilly, sweet girls names. Maybe thats because I have a unisex name [[name]Jordan[/name]]. That being said my favorites are [name]Greer[/name] and [name]Sloane[/name], followed by [name]Tatum[/name] and [name]Rory[/name]. I don’t care for [name]Hollis[/name] as much just because its so close to [name]Holly[/name].

First off great choice of names, very different than those I hear now.

[name]Tatum[/name] is cute. I love the sound of it. It works well for a girl. NN [name]Tay[/name] is cute too. I would put a very girly nickname to balance it out though. Like [name]Tatum[/name] [name]Anne[/name] or [name]Tatum[/name] [name]Marie[/name].

[name]Greer[/name] is ok to me. Its a cool name just not my favorite. I like [name]Greer[/name] [name]Angelica[/name].

[name]Sloane[/name] I am in love with, its so tough yet I can see a girly girly with it, she just has to have the right attitude to work it.

[name]Hollis[/name] is cute. Again not my fave but you can call her [name]Holly[/name] or Lissy. [name]Hollis[/name] [name]Serene[/name] is gorgeous.

[name]Rory[/name] is more boyish for me. I wouldn’t use it for a girl but if I did I would pair it with [name]Rory[/name] [name]Amaryllis[/name]. Very country twang with it.

Nice names in all

I’m very picky when it comes to unisex names (eg some I like, some I can’t stand and some are best left for the boys). Here are my opinions on your 5 choices in order of preference.
1 [name]Hollis[/name] (fun and spunky - I like this name alot although I prefer the spelling Hollace for some unknown reason)
2 [name]Greer[/name] (more hard edged and masculine - associated with the late Irish-born Hollywood actress [name]Greer[/name] [name]Garson[/name] whose old films I use to watch as a kid. I don’t mind this name but I prefer the spelling [name]Grier[/name] like [name]Brooke[/name] Shield’s second daughter.
3 [name]Sloane[/name] (cool and aristocratic - reminds me of [name]Princess[/name] [name]Diana[/name] who was a “[name]Sloane[/name] [name]Ranger[/name]” before marrying the [name]Prince[/name] of [name]Wales[/name]. [name]Sloane[/name] Square is a posh area of [name]London[/name], [name]England[/name])
4 [name]Rory[/name] - (adventurous and tomboyish - Irish for “red-haired”. For me, it’s one of those names best left for the boys. [name]Bill[/name] Gates has a son [name]Rory[/name] and the [name]Kennedy[/name]‘s have a girl [name]Rory[/name]).
5 [name]Tatum[/name] (very 70’s feel to me - associated with actress [name]Tatum[/name] O’[name]Neal[/name] in my mind and I’m not a fan of her or the name).

Other unisex names I like and don’t mind for a girl:
[name]Rowan[/name]
[name]Chapin[/name]
[name]Auden[/name]
[name]Darien[/name]
[name]Lowry[/name]
Lorimer
[name]Romney[/name]
[name]Tate[/name]
[name]Delaney[/name]
[name]Saxon[/name]
[name]August[/name]
[name]Schuyler[/name]
[name]Darcy[/name]
[name]Spencer[/name]
[name]Raleigh[/name]
[name]Ellery[/name]
[name]Leighton[/name]
[name]Marlowe[/name]
[name]Kinsey[/name]
[name]Farrell[/name]
[name]Lowell[/name]
[name]Brice[/name]
[name]Easton[/name]

wow im surprised at the positive feedback.
[name]Tatum[/name] would have been my first choice, but dh vetoed it
[name]Greer[/name] seems a bit hard for me to say. i know a middle aged woman with this name. not sure if im in love with it to use it tho.
[name]Sloane[/name] im absolutely in love with! imo it ages very gracefully. discussed [name]Sloane[/name] with dh last night and i was pleasently surprised he ok it! i could see myself using this one. combos i like are [name]Sloane[/name] [name]Olivia[/name], [name]Sloane[/name] [name]Emily[/name] ([name]Emily[/name] has always been dhs fav but i vetoed it. i feel bad i just cannot like it, but i think it works well here) and [name]Sloane[/name] [name]Felicity[/name] [name]Elisabeth[/name] which is my fav combo mns honor dhs grandmothers
[name]Hollis[/name] sometimes i like it more than others. sometimes i like to get nn holly and sometimes i dont. it does remind me of hollister which i am against. i do tend to want to say Holliston that we saw on credits before. we both like Holliston but think its masculine sounding and dont know if its legit?
[name]Rory[/name] is dhs fav. we seriously considered this at one point. now i think id rather use it for a boy? tho id love to meet a lil girl [name]Rory[/name] and might change my mind. does seem a bit nn to me and dont like the obvious choices.

would really love to use [name]Sloane[/name]! ill keep it as my backup name for when [name]Adelaide[/name] is born

Sorry, but this sounds like the exclusive, cool table at lunch in an expensive private school.

jackobeam- LOL haha no offense taken! i actually like that tho i have never been nor will my kids ever be like that stereotype but i do have expensive taste in everything and apparently in names too! haha that comment made me laugh! thanks

[name]Hi[/name]. I just want to say my name is actually [name]Greer[/name]. It was kind of a tough name to grow up with, but I did grow into it and now I love it. The only thing I’ll say is that if you’re going to name a child [name]Greer[/name], please spell it [name]GREER[/name] and not [name]GRIER[/name]. I’ve always felt that the best thing about my name is the ease and the symmetry of it’s spelling.

Oh, and [name]Elizabeth[/name] is a wonderful middle name for it

That all being said, I love the name [name]Hollis[/name], too. I taught a little girl named [name]Hollis[/name] about 10 years ago–she was 5 at the time and a cutie patootie!

I like these names (though agree with jackobeam that they would be hard to take all together  ). I think I like them pretty much in the order you’ve listed:
[name]Tatum[/name] - I would immediately think girl, although it’s obviously not frilly in any way
[name]Greer[/name] - I agree with you it is somehow a little hard to say, but is worth it imo! [name]Greer[/name] [name]Felicity[/name] [name]Elisabeth[/name]?
[name]Sloane[/name] - it does age well but seems a little trendy right now, maybe because the only ones I know are on TV currently. I do like [name]Sloane[/name] [name]Emily[/name] though
[name]Hollis[/name] - a little too masculine and the feminine connection is to [name]Holly[/name] which I don’t like
[name]Rory[/name] - cute as nn for [name]Aurora[/name] or [name]Lorelei[/name] but not to stand alone imo.

I love [name]Greer[/name].
[name]Tatum[/name] and [name]Sloane[/name] are ok.
I don’t really like [name]Hollis[/name], and [name]Rory[/name] is too masculine for me.

I like [name]Greer[/name] best.

For some reasons every time I see [name]Tatum[/name], I thought of Tantrum!
