Teagan or Alayna?

We are expecting a baby girl in [name_u]June[/name_u] and cannot decide on a name. I like [name_u]Teagan[/name_u] [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] and my husband likes [name_f]Alayna[/name_f] [name_f]Katherine[/name_f]. We have two sons, [name_m]Jack[/name_m] and [name_m]Connor[/name_m], and our last name is [name_m]Henry[/name_m]. Additional name suggestions welcome. Thank you!!!

[name_m]Both[/name_m] names are lovely. I personally prefer [name_u]Teagan[/name_u] [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f]… but I think [name_f]Alayna[/name_f] [name_f]Katherine[/name_f] sounds better with last name [name_m]Henry[/name_m]. To me the styles of [name_u]Teagan[/name_u] and [name_m]Henry[/name_m] just clash somehow. Does one person feel more strongly about “their” name? Maybe just go with that choice…
Have you considered combining the names?
[name_f]Alayna[/name_f] [name_u]Teagan[/name_u]
[name_u]Teagan[/name_u] [name_f]Alayna[/name_f]
Is it essential to you that baby has a traditional middle?
I also [name_u]LOVE[/name_u] [name_f]Katherine[/name_f] [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f]… much more so than [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] [name_f]Katherine[/name_f]. You could call her [name_f]Libby[/name_f] or [name_f]Kitty[/name_f].
All the names are pretty. I hope you can agree quickly!

I am biased towards [name_u]Teagan[/name_u] [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] because my niece is named [name_u]Tegan[/name_u] [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f]

[name_u]Teagan[/name_u] [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] is my favorite, but my daughter’s name is [name_f]Arwen[/name_f] [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] and I’m [name_f]Cathryn[/name_f] [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f], so I think I’m biased toward that two syllable N ending with [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] in the middle flow. [name_f]Katherine[/name_f] [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] would be great too!

I love [name_f]Katherine[/name_f] and [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f]. I prefer the [name_f]Elena[/name_f] spelling of [name_f]Alayna[/name_f]. [name_u]Teagan[/name_u] is a nice name, but unisex names aren’t very appealing to me.

I’ve heard a few A names at playgroups that I found intriguing.

[name_f]Avianna[/name_f]
[name_f]Aviva[/name_f]
[name_f]Aria[/name_f]
[name_f]Aurora[/name_f]
[name_f]Annabel[/name_f]

Good luck!

Thanks for the comments and suggestions. We aren’t any closer to making a decision. I like the name [name_u]Teagan[/name_u].

Hmmm. They both go with your boy names in different ways. [name_u]Teagan[/name_u] is modern, surname-y, and Celtic-influenced, like [name_m]Connor[/name_m]. [name_f]Alayna[/name_f] is more traditionally feminine, which goes with your traditionally masculine boy names.

[name_f]My[/name_f] vote would be for [name_f]Elena[/name_f] [name_f]Katherine[/name_f] - a more classic, traditional name that feels more natural with the classic [name_m]Jack[/name_m] and your direct, English surname (which I’m a bit jealous of - so many names go great with [name_m]Henry[/name_m]!). It still sounds a lot like [name_f]Alayna[/name_f]. [name_f]Katherine[/name_f] [name_f]Elena[/name_f] is nice too. [name_m]Even[/name_m] [name_f]Alaina[/name_f] looks a little more traditional.

That being said, [name_u]Teagan[/name_u]'s not my style but a name I do really like on other people’s kids. If you aren’t tied to either middle name, then [name_u]Teagan[/name_u] [name_f]Alayna[/name_f] flows well and is a nice compromise between the two - or [name_f]Alayna[/name_f] [name_u]Teagan[/name_u], I guess, but somehow [name_u]Teagan[/name_u] [name_f]Alayna[/name_f] grabs me more.
