So I know that all of you will give me your honest opinions! I really like the name [name]Soren[/name], but want to use it for my little girl. Is that totally taboo??
I was thinking something like [name]Soren[/name] [name]Magnolia[/name] (although the middle name isn’t set, it’s just to give an example).
My husband and I really like [name]Seren[/name], but feel it sounds too close to Sarin gas (the chemican weapon). I thought [name]Soren[/name] would be a close option…
I’ve never heard the name [name]Soren[/name] before … it’s alright I can see why it would be considered a boy’s name. I would personally use [name]Sora[/name] for a girl <3
I have friends who named their son [name]Soren[/name] – they live in Denmark. Personally, I am very against boys’ names going over to the girls’ side, but there are tons of folks on here who are totally in favor of it. This name doesn’t seem any different than [name]Rowan[/name], for instance, which is a boy’s name but is now huge for girls.
I love [name]Seren[/name] – it’s beautiful. I see your point about the gas, but … I don’t know. It seems like an old reference and not many people in her age group would know about it. I would suggest [name]Serena[/name], but it doesn’t seem to have the sound you’re going for.
I think [name]Seren[/name] or [name]Sora[/name] are much better. [name]IMO[/name], [name]Soren[/name] has a much too masculine feel to it. Never heard of the gas unfortunately.

Thanks for all the opinions…I really do love the name [name]Seren[/name] and for once my hubby and I agree on a name that we like. Maybe you are right and the Sarin gas reference would be lost on most people.
I like
[name]Seren[/name] [name]Louise[/name]
[name]Seren[/name] [name]Magnolia[/name]
[name]Seren[/name] [name]Thisbe[/name]
I don’t see how [name]Soren[/name] sounds so masculine. I’m pronouncing it like “[name]Lauren[/name]” with an “S”…so is the S what makes it masculine? I think the name is obscure enough that people wouldn’t automatically think male when they hear it. If you love it, I saw go for it!
I love [name]Seren[/name]! I think [name]Seren[/name] [name]Magnolia[/name] or [name]Seren[/name] [name]Thisbe[/name] would be great. I know someone who had considered [name]Seren[/name] [name]Olivia[/name] (also [name]Ariana[/name] [name]Seren[/name]), both of which are gorgeous, imo. I don’t know if [name]Olivia[/name] and [name]Ariana[/name] are too mainstream for you, though…
The argument is not that it sounds masculine, but that it is actually a boy’s name, just like [name]Richard[/name] or [name]John[/name].
Alyne1: My favorite combo is [name]Seren[/name] [name]Louise[/name] – absolutely stunning. The other middles don’t seem to fit with [name]Seren[/name] in my opinion. Plus, since [name]Seren[/name] is so uncommon, it might be good to ground the name with a more common middle name, and [name]Louise[/name] is a great choice because it’s commonly known, but not too popular.
Thank you! I like that combo too, but next problem lies in our last name which also starts with an “L” and is one syllable. I like the idea of using [name]Louise[/name], especially since it is my mother’s middle name, but am afraid it sounds weird. Her name would be [name]Seren[/name] [name]Louise[/name] Lyne (pronounced “[name]Line[/name]”). Is it too sing-songy?
It’s not a well-known name outside of Scandinavian circles, so I have none of the traditional reactions against boys names on girls. I really like the name [name]Soren[/name], personally I would only consider it for a boy but I mean, I also probably wouldn’t use it. I just think sounding like “sore in” is also kind of non-ideal. I guess sounding like “soaring” is positive though : D.
I see what you mean about Sarin gas, never thought of it before, but, I mean, [name]Seren[/name] is spelled differently and makes me think more of the Serengeti desert! Think about all the women named [name]Sarah[/name] who have a middle or last name that starts with N. But if you can’t be convinced on [name]Seren[/name], no sweat.
[name]Soren[/name] [name]Christiana[/name] comes to mind. Christianastad (or something similar) was the original name for [name]Oslo[/name], so that alludes to the Scandinavian thing. [name]Soren[/name] [name]Lucia[/name] could too ([name]Lucia[/name] is an important saint in the Scandinavian countries).
I think [name]Seren[/name] [name]Louise[/name] Lyne is a gorgeous, beautiful name (I know those mean the same thing, but one didn’t seem like enough). And I love that [name]Louise[/name] has family significance – what a great bonus!
[name]Just[/name] want to agree that [name]Seren[/name] is lovely! Really gorgeous name, I would never associate it with the gas either. Beautiful, go with it
[name]LOVE[/name] [name]Seren[/name]!!! I had NO idea about the gas reference so it will probably not occur to the majority of people… and as for [name]Soren[/name], I think there would be a lot of “sorry” or “sore” jokes linked to it…
I actually share your love for [name]Soren[/name], too cute and not many people use it! I’ve only heard of it on a boy, and generally I really dislike boy names that get overtaken by girls, but I like [name]Soren[/name] enough that I would consider it. I do like the other suggestions of [name]Sora[/name] an [name]Seren[/name]. I also adore [name]Magnolia[/name] for a middle name!
This was largely unhelpful but I just wanted to comment and gush over your great choice! <3
I have never heard this before. But I think it is absolutely adorable! [name]Soren[/name]… I love it! [name]Way[/name] to girly for a boy [name]IMO[/name].
