I have recently discovered the name [name]Tegan[/name]/[name]Teagan[/name] (Tee-gan) and have started to really like it for a girl. I love that the name is spunky, underused, but semi-heard of!
What do you all think? Is [name]Tegan[/name]/[name]Teagan[/name] feminine enough for a little girl? Is it in fact underused, yet heard of? [name]How[/name] would you spell it to get the pronounciation that I want?
I love [name]Tegan[/name]! Actually, I really like either spelling, but [name]Tegan[/name] stands out to me because of the “[name]Tegan[/name] and [name]Sara[/name]” connection. I think it’s a great name, and is certainly spunky and charming. I definitely think it’s feminine enough, but I’d probably pair it with an unquestionably feminine middle name if I were to use it. Pronunciation issues will probably arise regardless of spelling, to be honest, especially if you’re in the US. I’ve heard people say “[name]Tay[/name]-gan” instead of “Tee-gan.” But it’s definitely a name that most people have heard of, but still is underused. I think it’s great
I really like [name]Tegan[/name]. I’d spell it without the “a” as I think more people would be likely call her [name]Tay[/name]-gan if it was spelled [name]Teagan[/name]. I’m also a fan of the name [name]Regan[/name] ([name]Ree[/name]-gan) and prefer that spelling to [name]Reagan[/name] for the exact same reason.
Thank you both! I’m so happy to hear that [name]Tegan[/name] isn’t a “weird” name and that it will be accepted!
I also love [name]Tegan[/name]'s Welsh background and the fact that it means “beautiful.”
[name]Regan[/name] ([name]Ree[/name]-gan) is also gorgeous and a name that I am adding to my list. Does anyone like [name]Regan[/name] better than [name]Tegan[/name]?
Where I live, [name]Tegan[/name]/[name]Teagan[/name] is used a lot by lower class families - so I’ve certainly known more than a couple snotty, bratty, messy-haired Teagans which puts me off from ever using it. However, I [name]DO[/name] like the sound of it. It’s a pretty name.
I like [name]Tegan[/name], but since you asked if anyone likes [name]Regan[/name] better, my little one is named [name]Regan[/name] ([name]Ree[/name]-gan). I chose it because it means royal and regal. It’s an old Shakespearan name. It was used in The Exorcist unfortunately too, but I ignore that reference.
I like [name]Tegan[/name] too, but agree with other the other poster about leaving the “a” out so it’ll be pronounced Tee-gan.
I love the [name]Regan[/name] means “royal, regal.” I am curious as to how other people react to your daughter’s name, abbeyb?!?
Oh, and I’m not concerned about how names are used in movies that are recent, because by the time my daughter is older, these movies won’t be “in style” anymore.
The response has been good. Some people pronounce it [name]Ray[/name]-gun sometimes, but I just correct it and move on. It’s different, but not too different.
