I woke up today in love with [name_f]Tesla[/name_f] for a boy. There were more than 10 times more girls names [name_f]Tesla[/name_f] than boys last year, though. I’ve been thinking about it as a middle for [name_m]Chester[/name_m], but it has the Ches Tes issue.
[name_m]How[/name_m] do you feel about [name_f]Tesla[/name_f] on a boy?
It is more feminine sounding to me beacuse of it’s similarity to [name_f]Tessa[/name_f], but I don’t see anything wrong with giving a boy a name that is a bit feminine (girls get harsh-sounding name all the time).
So I think it could work, if you can accept the mix ups between [name_f]Tesla[/name_f] and [name_f]Tessa[/name_f], and people assuming [name_f]Tesla[/name_f] is a boy.
Before Nameberry, I had always assumed that [name_f]Tesla[/name_f] was a boys’ name. I thought it was a reference to [name_f]Nikola[/name_f] [name_f]Tesla[/name_f]. I think it sounds masculine.
I don’t think there would be much of an issue with Ches Tes, as I’m presuming that you wouldn’t call him by his first and middle very often.
BTW, I adore [name_m]Chester[/name_m]!
Good luck
Since it’s a middle name I don’t think it’s that big a deal whether it’s more feminine or masculine–it’s unusual enough to that I doubt it’ll cause an issue.
[name_f]My[/name_f] main dislike is that it doesn’t really sound well with [name_m]Chester[/name_m]. [name_m]Chester[/name_m] [name_f]Tesla[/name_f] sounds like a tongue twister. [name_f]Do[/name_f] you just like the sound or does it have some meaning to you?
If it’s just the sound what about something like?
[name_m]Chester[/name_m] [name_m]Talbot[/name_m]
[name_m]Chester[/name_m] [name_u]Taliesin[/name_u]
[name_m]Chester[/name_m] [name_m]Talib[/name_m]
[name_m]Chester[/name_m] [name_m]Tybalt[/name_m]
I actually only like [name_f]Tesla[/name_f] on boys, it sounds masculine to me. The fact it’s more often used for girls now wouldn’t bother me much since it’s quite uncommon and most people’s first thought would be [name_f]Nikola[/name_f] [name_f]Tesla[/name_f] anyways. I’m not fond of [name_m]Chester[/name_m] [name_f]Tesla[/name_f], though, too much repeating sounds for my liking.
[name_f]Tesla[/name_f] is quite rare & I think its completely Unisex sounding. I would totally use it for a boy but maybe not in combination with [name_m]Chester[/name_m].
I like it- I don’t think it sounds too feminine at all. I wouldn’t worry too much about the flow of [name_m]Chester[/name_m] [name_f]Tesla[/name_f]- honestly, how often are you going to say both names together? I think [name_m]Chester[/name_m] is a great name- I like [name_m]Cheever[/name_m] too, which could be a solution if you are super worried about the flow: [name_m]Cheever[/name_m] [name_f]Tesla[/name_f]. Good luck :).
I actually really like it for a boy. [name_m]Chester[/name_m] [name_f]Tesla[/name_f] sounds odd, but if you are wanting to honor the scientist, you could always use [name_m]Chester[/name_m] [name_f]Nikola[/name_f].
Nameberry has [name_f]Nikola[/name_f] listed as a pink name, but I know a guy named this and think its really nice on him.
I like it! I think it works for a boy or a girl. It has a feminine sound, but I instantly think of [name_f]Nikola[/name_f] [name_f]Tesla[/name_f] when I hear it. Doesn’t work with [name_m]Chester[/name_m], imo.
I like [name_f]Tesla[/name_f] as a middle name for a boy, but not with [name_m]Chester[/name_m]. And sadly, I do think the average person would think [name_f]Tesla[/name_f] was a girl. I’m not sure how much of the general public knows who [name_f]Nikola[/name_f] [name_f]Tesla[/name_f] is.
I really [name_u]LOVE[/name_u] tesla (I think it’s a really cool name for boy or girl. [name_m]Even[/name_m] more so for a boy) but don’t care much for [name_m]Chester[/name_m].
