Thallo for a boy?

[name_f]Thallo[/name_f] (prn. Thah-low) is the greek goddess of spring & blossoms. But I really think sound wise [name_f]Thallo[/name_f] would make a great boys name.

And the meaning ‘bringer of blossoms’ I think is also really sweet.

What are your thoughts?

I think it does work, sound wise and the meaning is great (my only doubt would be that it could sound like phallic but idk if that’s just me)

I agree that it works sound-wise, but I’m always hesitant to gender-bend deity names as I think it could be borderline inappropriate? I know there have been discussions on here recently regarding the use of Greek deity names in particular that would make me hesitant to use it.

I second this concern as I thought of it as well.

I agree with this.

This is pretty much how I feel, as a Greek person. If you like the sound, maybe you could go for Thallow! It’s familiar because of names like Marlow & Harlow, and to me more respectful than genderbending a goddess’ name. Or Thales, which has the same meaning/origin but is actually male!

it’s really cute, but also reminds me of ‘phallo’. if it works for you, go for it!

It definitely sounds masculine to me, and I love the meaning! I would also suggest [name_m]Philo[/name_m], since it has a similar sound and has origins as a masc name.

Reminds me of the word fallow but otherwise is interesting. I personally wouldn’t worry about the origin being masculine or feminine…

Nope not just you! I knew there was some word in the back of mind that made me hesitate.
