We are having our fourth boy and can’t decide on a name. Thoughts on the names [name_m]Thayer[/name_m] , [name_m]Truman[/name_m] and [name_m]Emmerich[/name_m] /Emeric ?
Any other name suggests?
Thanks!

I’m not a fan of [name_m]Thayer[/name_m], I wouldn’t be sure how to pronounce it. Have you considered [name_m]Thatcher[/name_m], [name_m]Tucker[/name_m] and [name_m]Theron[/name_m]?
Emeric’s nice, feels old-fashioned yet somehow modern on the same time. [name_m]Truman[/name_m]’ s my favorite, it has a great sound and nickname [name_m]Tru[/name_m] would be really cute to use once in a while!
My youngest son is [name_m]Truman[/name_m] and I recommend it whole heartedly. I love it’s sound, it’s meaning, it’s sophistication . It’s uncommon yet everyone has heard of it so we never have to explain it, repeat it, etc. I couldn’t think of a more perfect name for my little man. Your other options are nice too but in my very biased opinion, they don’t compare to [name_m]Truman[/name_m].
Easily [name_m]Thayer[/name_m]. I think it’s the most versatile, for different kinds of kids, whereas [name_m]Truman[/name_m] and Emeric are very type-cast names as being old-fashioned and a bit stuffy, in my opinion. Th names are also often overlooked, so it makes the name stand out as distinctive.
Not a fan of [name_m]Thayer[/name_m], it either sounds like a weird way of saying “there” or a lispy version of [name_m]Sayer[/name_m]. [name_m]Truman[/name_m] is probably my favorite - but what are your other boys’ names? It makes it easier to give suggestions
I like [name_m]Thatcher[/name_m] but my husband won’t go for it .
My youngest is named [name_m]Torin[/name_m] and so [name_m]Theron[/name_m] feels too close in sound
I am a bit hesitant to go with [name_m]Thayer[/name_m] , for the two reasons you mentioned .
My other boys are [name_m]Sebastien[/name_m] , [name_m]Nikolai[/name_m] and [name_m]Torin[/name_m]
I like [name_m]Truman[/name_m] the best but I wonder if it’s worth getting a few more non-T names on the table just because you have a [name_m]Torin[/name_m]. Then only use a T name if none of the new ones can beat [name_m]Truman[/name_m] (or [name_m]Thayer[/name_m] but I do think [name_m]Thayer[/name_m] would be hard to wear). I don’t know why I don’t warm to Emeric. I don’t like the -ic at the end!
I’ve looked all over for [name_f]Non[/name_f] T names ( besides Emeric) that I like , with no luck so far . I actually prefer the look of Emeric spelled [name_m]Emmerich[/name_m] which takes away the “ ic” ending in written form but the pronounciation stays “ ic” sounding, lol.
Curious what about [name_m]Thayer[/name_m] makes it hard to wear in your opinion?
Some of my extended family had a similar reaction to the name but couldn’t articulate why so I’m very curious !
We also briefly considered [name_m]Cian[/name_m] ( “Key-an”) but the [name_m]Kian[/name_m] spelling of the name is getting more popular ( trying to stay away from top 500 if possible) and we were afraid the traditional [name_m]Cian[/name_m] spelling would be mispronounced.
Totally open to name suggestions if anyone is willing to share!
I don’t mind Thayer - so definitely not a big aversive response, it’s cool and it would naturally become more appealing on someone - I just had the same hmmm about the lisp/ southern drawl “there” thing and a sense of it being a name of a Tolkien /
Marvel character — maybe that’s a massive pro!
I prefer Emmerich in some ways but I keep thinking of limerick with either spelling. Anyway it might be my mind in overdrive - don’t want to be dispiriting!
[name_m]Truman[/name_m] for sure.
[name_m]Truman[/name_m].
