From a currently untitled book:
Suddenly, something flew right past her. She jumped and tried to see what it was. But, it was too fast. Probably just a bird. She couldn’t let her imagination get ahead—
“Hello.”
[name_f]Tesla[/name_f] looked around for the person who had spoken. Nobody. But, surely there couldn’t be. Someone had said hello. “Where are you? Come on, I know you’re there!”
“The brave human has no idea where she is, does she?” Yes, someone was there. “Must be a foreigner. We don’t get near enough of those.” The forest was filled with the sound of laughter. Not just from one person, but from many.
“Time for torture?” Another voice, a tiny voice, asked hopefully.
From The [name_m]Notorious[/name_m] Squirrel Chasers:
“Yeah. I totally get it. Lots of people call me powder puff. I really don’t know why, ‘cause I’m super tough.”
“Funny.”
“Really? Then why aren’t you laughing?”
“Ha ha?”
“That was not convincing. Come on, laugh. For real. It’s okay.”
“Can’t.”
“Everybody can laugh. Here, I’ll tell a joke. Knock knock.”
“Who’s there? Fabulous. Fabulous who? Fabulous [name_u]Lux[/name_u], that’s who, you nitwit!”
“Wow… is that the only joke you know? That’s really not funny. But hey! You can say more than two words at a time!”
“Lux’s jokes are awful. But I don’t know anybody else who tells any.”
[name_u]New[/name_u] Word: Convince
“Does it hurt?” asked the Healer.
“No,” muttered the Alkemi, grimacing.
The Healer rolled her eyes. “Very convincing. Hold still.” She traced her fingers along the Alkemi’s arm, watching her skin knit itself together.
“I’ll have you know, I’m very powerful,” the Squaller muttered.
“Prove it,” said the Tidemaker. “Convince me.”
The Squaller clapped his hands, sending a gust of wind blowing out across the lake and creating a rippling wave. “How’s that?”
The Tidemaker shrugged. He flicked his wrist, making a wave twice the size. “I can do better.”
“That’s not fair!” the Squaller complained. “You’re literally a Tidemaker!”
These are all Grishaverse OCs from 11pm last night. None of them have names because I have yet to name them.

“Don’t worry too much, my dear. You’re doing a wonderful job as crown princess. I’m sure you’ll make a fine ruler as well,” [name_f]Queen[/name_f] [name_f]Clara[/name_f] tried to reassure her daughter. [name_f]Selphie[/name_f] wasn’t convinced, but it did help to know that her mother believed in her. “And [name_m]Stellan[/name_m], please don’t be so hard on her. She is trying her best.”
“I suppose so. But—” The king was interrupted by the sound of trumpets. “That is our sign to go to the grand ballroom. We mustn’t be late. [name_f]Line[/name_f] up in age order behind your mother and I, children.”
The royal children did as they were ordered. Satisfied, [name_m]King[/name_m] [name_m]Stellan[/name_m] led his family to the grand ballroom of the castle. “Age order, it’s always age order,” [name_f]Lettice[/name_f] muttered as she followed behind [name_m]Westin[/name_m]. “If I were in charge, I’d put me at the front.” Her brother turned and motioned for her to shush. “Well, I would!”
Also From First In [name_f]Line[/name_f]:
Before anyone could say anything else, palace guards swarmed the intruders and removed them. The leader did get in one more thing before he was taken away, though. “Change is coming to Neszia! You’ll see, Your Majesties! You’ll see!”
“They’ll see,” [name_f]Lettice[/name_f], who was standing within earshot of her brother, muttered. “Yes, they will.” [name_m]Westin[/name_m] just shook his head and went back to chatting with his friends.
[name_u]New[/name_u] Word: Guard
“I’m your bodyguard,” [name_u]Victory[/name_u] pointed out. “I’m supposed to be guarding you.”
Farsinger grinned. “And yet, here you are, bringing me into a potentially dangerous situation because I wanted you to. It’s almost like you like me.”
The guard squinted at the couple ahead of them through the snow. “Passports?”
“Passports?” Aleesa asked nervously. “We don’t have passports.”
“Don’t worry,” said [name_u]Loren[/name_u], much more confidently than he felt. “I got this.”

“Thank you so much for your amazing vote of confidence. It sure is nice to have a friend who believes in me.”
“What can I say? I’m a pessimist and a cynic. If you want a cheerleader, go find Zindel.”
“I want to see if I have magic.”
“Then focus. I have other things I need to do, you know.”
“Oh, yes. It’s so important that you go off and sulk somewhere for hours. A great contribution to the world.”
“You have no idea what I do when I’m nowhere to be found around here. For all you know, I could help people.”
“Well? [name_f]Do[/name_f] you?”
From an untitled book:
“If I don’t go, who will?” Enzo’s mother asked. She stared at [name_m]Kylor[/name_m], using the look that said “Don’t you dare challenge my decisions”. [name_u]Enzo[/name_u] was surprised that she would give her boss that look. He had to admit though, it was pretty awesome, seeing someone challenge Head Protector [name_f]My[/name_f] [name_m]Way[/name_m] Is The Best [name_m]Way[/name_m].
“I will,” [name_m]Kylor[/name_m] replied confidently.
“No. Masalterra needs you.”
“I am the Head Protector of [name_f]Pania[/name_f]. [name_f]My[/name_f] job is to do whatever it takes to defend the kingdom.”

“Pretty much nothing,” said [name_m]Arnold[/name_m], “but I’m definitely confused. Who the heck is Max?”
“No one, really.” [name_u]Basil[/name_u] shrugged shiftily. “Just. . . don’t ask that question to anyone I was friends with when I was twelve.”
“Well, if I encounter anyone you were friends with when you were twelve, I know what question I’m going to ask them.”
“That’s a massive tree!” cried [name_f]Alyena[/name_f], feeling like a child again.
[name_u]Makari[/name_u] grinned. “I used to climb it all the time when I was a kid. I know all its secrets. It knows a few of mine, too.”
“Did you talk to it?” [name_f]Alyena[/name_f] asked, smirking.
[name_u]Makari[/name_u] affected a wounded expression. “Of course! You trying to tell me you never talked to trees when you were little?”
I finally managed to name my Grishaverse OCs! These are the Heartrender and the Tidemaker. “What look?”
“Like you’re confused, but not in a bad way.”
“Sorry. I’m still trying to figure you out.”
“I confuse you?”
“The fact that you’re not the same princess I’ve known for ten years does.”

[name_u]Hunter[/name_u] looked confused. “Related? How is that… [name_m]Ludwig[/name_m]! Explain! Now!”
“I had [name_f]Cambria[/name_f] prove to me that she really was a fairly good Necromancer before she tried bringing you back. And it turns out that [name_u]Mat[/name_u] here, also known as [name_u]Unknown[/name_u], is a Vampire with your last name.”
“It’s great to meet you, Hunter!”
“Um… yeah… great to meet you too?”

[name_f]Celestial[/name_f] grinned. “See? And now you know what to do if this ever happens again.”
[name_f]Taliya[/name_f] peered at the liquid skeptically. “What if you made a mistake?”
[name_f]Inessa[/name_f] huffed. “I don’t make mistakes. I barely know what the word means.”
“I’ll define it for you!” [name_u]Sanya[/name_u] chimed in. “‘Mistake: [name_u]An[/name_u] error or fault resulting from defective judgment, deficient knowledge, or carelessness.’ Dictionary definition.”

“We’ll run away!” [name_u]Augustine[/name_u] told her. “We’ll live in the woods and eat berries and sleep under the stars. How does that sound?” He looked and sounded entirely serious.
The princess sniffled. Then, she grinned and replied “Good!”
“Bad,” I corrected her. “So many things could happen to little kids like you out there. For starters, not all berries are edible. And you are. The two of you put together would make a nice meal for a wolf or a bear or—”
“Why are you still here?” [name_u]Augustine[/name_u] glared at me and, for just a moment, he reminded me of his great-uncle. “If you aren’t going to kill us, then leave. It’s illegal for you to be here.”
“If you really want to run away…” I couldn’t believe what I was about to say. “Then come with me.”
“No killing us?” [name_f]Franziska[/name_f] asked, still smiling.
“Nope. I’d take good care of you.”

[name_m]Falconieri[/name_m] struggled to his hooves. “You’ve grown! The last time I saw you, you only came up to my shoulder. Now, I have to look up to meet your eyes. It’s been so long since—” He was interrupted by a violent coughing that shook his entire body.

[name_m]Elder[/name_m] Mages. . . something about the phrase made [name_u]Ren[/name_u] shiver. It felt like, like home, but the kind of home that held bad memories and that he never wanted to go back to.
“You’re a faerie,” [name_m]Little[/name_m] [name_f]Cat[/name_f] told him severely. “You’re not some kind of mystical being with magic pouring out of your ears.”
“I can do magic, though,” Dragon Flight pointed out. He didn’t like being called useless, however accurate the designation might be.
[name_m]Little[/name_m] Cat’s ears twitched. “You can do fire magic. [name_u]Fire[/name_u] mages are less like mystical beings and more like sticks of dynamite that someone left in a garage for several years.”

“He always did love a celebration, too. And never would have dreamed of missing a birthday—” [name_f]Duchess[/name_f] [name_m]Seraphim[/name_m] suddenly stopped talking. She was staring across the room at a group of people in cloaks blacker than night. “Oh my. The [name_u]Dark[/name_u] [name_m]Council[/name_m] is here. They are still following the rules, right?”
[name_f]Selphie[/name_f] shuddered. There were few things in the kingdom, in her mind, creepier than the [name_u]Dark[/name_u] [name_m]Council[/name_m]. They were a group of very powerful magicians who specialized in magic that was considered by many to be dangerous. Neszia kept them as its secret weapon, to be unleashed on enemies only if necessary. The surrounding kingdoms were so afraid of them that they never even dared make a move that might be interpreted as threatening.
From The Monster Of Mead’s Hollow:
[name_m]Brian[/name_m] was shocked. He knew now why that boy seemed familiar. [name_m]Josh[/name_m] [name_u]Houston[/name_u] was almost unrecognizable. His black hair, once well-groomed and short, was now shaggy, unkempt, and his long bangs were dyed dark blue. The spark that had once lit up his eyes was gone, replaced with a haunted look. [name_m]Brian[/name_m] could hardly believe he was only fourteen. He seemed older.
“Josh?” [name_m]Brian[/name_m] followed him. “Josh! Wait!”
[name_m]Josh[/name_m] turned back to him. “I have nothing to say to you. And I’m in a hurry. So just leave me alone.”

I didn’t know you did art. [name_u]Or[/name_u] that your art was so. . . disturbing.” As [name_u]Basil[/name_u] stared at the drawing, [name_m]Arnold[/name_m] was climbing down as fast as he could. He dropped the last three feet to the ground, and snatched the paper out of Basil’s hands.
“Hey! What–”
“If you mess with my art,” [name_m]Arnold[/name_m] said, “I will haunt you forever.”
[name_u]Basil[/name_u] shrugged. “That’s not a very good threat, seeing as we just established that I’m already pretty haunted. But, seriously, is this drawing really worth haunting me forever?”
[name_f]Taliya[/name_f] was shocked to see the haunted expression on her sister’s face. “Alya, I–”
“Who did this?” [name_f]Alyena[/name_f] repeated. “Was this one of Inessa’s? [name_f]Do[/name_f] you know?”
“Why would [name_f]Inessa[/name_f] come into this?”
“She’s the best,” said [name_f]Alyena[/name_f]. “If he wanted to get rid of someone, he’d use one of hers.”
[name_f]Taliya[/name_f] threw up her hands. “Wait, [name_f]Alyena[/name_f], slow down. Who’s ‘he’? Why is he getting rid of anyone? And using one of Inessa’s. . . poisons?” Then it dawned on her. “Wait, you think Makari’s been poisoned.” Her brain worked furiously, trying to put the pieces together. “By. . . the Darkling? [name_f]Cassie[/name_f] tried to pull her weapon free from my grasp. She stared at me with a look of utter loathing on her face and hissed “let go, you brute!” Despite her intimidating glare, I thought I saw a flicker of fear in her eyes. “Let go!”
It gave me no satisfaction to see that I frightened her. To make someone as bold as [name_f]Cassie[/name_f] look even a little bit scared, I had to have quite the reputation. And I couldn’t blame her for being so aggressive towards someone she perceived as a valid threat. “I don’t want to hurt you. I just want to go home. It would be very much appreciated if you would let me.”
From The [name_f]Princess[/name_f] And Her Servant:
“It was fantastic, my future wife. Absolutely fantastic. A band of pirates tried to take over my ship, but they regretted it. Most of them met their ends. And, best of all, I killed the captain myself! The fiend is at the bottom of the ocean now… all except his skull, which I’m planning on turning into a nice paperweight. Oh, and I kept his sword. And what a beautiful sword it is, too. So sharp and pointy.” And, with those words, [name_u]Prince[/name_u] [name_u]Daniel[/name_u] unsheathed his sword and held it up in the air. “It’s a Phatian cutlass. I’m betting the captain got it off of one of the trade ships that have been being looted recently.”
Malarrea stepped back in fear, but ended up bumping into [name_u]Devin[/name_u], who was so helpfully standing right behind her. “Stay out of the way, you twit!” She snapped at him. Unfortunately, she didn’t sound very threatening because her voice was shaking.
“Calm down, [name_f]Princess[/name_f]. It’s just a sword. He wouldn’t dare harm you with it. He has no reason to,” the nuisance replied. Then, a lot quieter, he added “And, if he did, that’s what I’m here for, isn’t it? To throw away my sorry existence to save your life.”

“Princess Adelicia!” cried the woman warmly, her arms spread wide.

The woman clicked her tongue. “Your time among mortals has negatively influenced your vocabulary, I’m sorry to say. You will have lessons to correct that immediately.”
“Okay, cool,” Aleesa agreed confusedly. “Hang on, though, I don’t need lessons right now. I need to speak with the queen.”
“And you will!” The woman smiled, showing off her perfectly even rows of white teeth. “Just not yet. You must be exhausted from your long journey.”
[name_u]Avi[/name_u] and [name_u]Io[/name_u] were left to stare at each other. Then, [name_u]Io[/name_u] said what they were both thinking.

“Neither do I,” [name_u]Avi[/name_u] agreed, immensely relieved that the other girl felt the same way. “Plus, this contest is a really silly way for him to choose a wife. Why does the princess have to be good at singing, of all things?”

“Ha! More like a family secret that’s in danger of being revealed,” [name_u]Rose[/name_u] muttered. “Serves him right, having to miss one of his grand performances.”
“He’d love to be here, but the matter just can’t wait. So, I will try my best to sing the one song that he requested we include and wishes that he could be the one to sing. That song is a new one. You’ve never heard it. It’s called If I Could Turn Back Time and was supposed to premiere in a couple of episodes. I don’t mean to spoil the show, but explaining its background quickly is important. Basically, [name_m]Marco[/name_m] [name_m]Delfino[/name_m] has betrayed [name_f]Ione[/name_f] [name_f]Lenore[/name_f], I hope you all know who I’m talking about, and now he feels horrible because he never meant to hurt anyone. “How many people did you kill directly? How many more’s deaths were you responsible for?” The questions spun in her head until she couldn’t breathe, even though she knew that that was silly. The only people Liliani had ever killed were traitors, evil people who wanted to take down the [name_m]Council[/name_m]. She had only ever protected the [name_m]Council[/name_m]. That was the thought she clung to as she gasped awake, sweating, and even Quince’s calm hand tracing circles over her shoulders couldn’t pull her back together.
“Where are we?” asked Selenite breathlessly, her wings shivering so hard that she almost couldn’t fly. “It’s as cold as death.”
“Death? No.” Glitter tried to sound upbeat despite the fact that the ends of her claws were going numb. “It’s only as cold as, say, a life-threatening coma.”
