The 2-entry Teaser Game!

From The [name_f]Princess[/name_f] And Her Servant:

“Worse than working for her.” [name_u]Devin[/name_u] sighed. It sounded like the princess was already in one of her moods. And it wasn’t even seven o’clock in the morning yet. He supposed he had to go see what was so unacceptable. It was, after all, his job. “Some job. I don’t even get paid, yet I have to spend most of my time following around a brat who has no respect for me.” As luck would have it, the minute he reached her bedroom door, Malarrea flung it open and it hit him. “Ow.”
She didn’t even bother to ask if he was alright, which, thankfully, he was. Instead, she snapped “Maybe you should watch where you stand! You’re always in the way and I’m sick of it!”
“Well, good morning to you too, Princess.” It wasn’t like [name_u]Devin[/name_u] expected anything different from her. “I take it you’re in a foul mood so far today.” As usual.
Malarrea glared at him. “Of course I am! [name_f]Do[/name_f] you know what today is?! Actually, wait, you don’t! You’re not smart enough to remember important dates like today!”
“Actually, wait, I do know what today is. [name_u]August[/name_u] thirtieth, the year is fifteen eleven. A very important guest is coming to the palace.”
“Not just any guest! [name_f]My[/name_f] FIANCE! [name_u]Prince[/name_u] [name_u]Daniel[/name_u] [name_m]Algernon[/name_m] of Phibia! Your future king! And don’t you forget it!”

From Reprogrammed:

“Cassie, I don’t think you’re being completely honest. But, if you want me to stay, I’ll stay.”
“Why don’t you think I’m being honest?”
“My presence does make you uneasy. I can sense it.”
“Why did [name_u]Edison[/name_u] make you so smart?” I asked, more to myself than to him. It took me a moment to realize that I had spoken out loud.
“You know why [name_u]Edison[/name_u] made me what I am. And this, dare I call it a personality, that I have now, it was an accident. I’ve told you. [name_u]Edison[/name_u] didn’t purposely make me…”
“Good.”
“What?”
“You’re good.”
“For a weapon of mass destruction?”
“Yes. Especially for a weapon of mass destruction.”
“I’m sorry for the mass destruction I caused. I know I’ve apologized before, but nothing will ever undo it. So I’m doing what I can.”

“Do you really Dreamsee me?” [name_u]Basil[/name_u] asked.
[name_m]Arnold[/name_m] nodded. “I mean, that scene definitely isn’t a normal dream.” Then, almost despite himself, “Have you ever. . . [name_f]Do[/name_f] you ever Dreamsee me?”
[name_u]Basil[/name_u] thought about it. "I think I have, actually, a couple times. You’re older, though, sitting on someone’s porch somewhere. It’s a nice image, rather different from ‘silhouetted against a backdrop of fire, radiating rage and destruction’.
“Well, Dreamvisions don’t always come true,” [name_m]Arnold[/name_m] offered, rather weakly. “That might not happen.”

It was the party, that party, the one where she met the boy who hated her and railed at her about destruction. She wanted nothing more than to be able to avoid the party, but she knew that these visions always came true, no matter what the Government tried to tell people. No one ever knew anyone who had escaped a Dreamvision, and they never had themselves, but they believed the Government. Well, Liliani didn’t. She would go to this party, and she would meet this boy, and he would hate her, and then. . . something. She had no idea what happened next.

“Lilivere! [name_f]Lilivere[/name_f], where are you?!” Aradia’s voice came from somewhere nearby. But it seemed almost like a dream. Unreal. [name_f]Lilivere[/name_f] couldn’t find the strength to call out. Footsteps hurried towards her. “Lilivere!” Suddenly, [name_f]Aradia[/name_f] was there, holding her. “Lili! [name_m]Say[/name_m] something!”
“Radia.” The weakness of her own voice was a shock. But, there were things she had to say. And there was no one she would rather say them to. “The pendant… it—” A fit of coughing interrupted her words.
“You need a medic! I’ll go—”
“No. Stay.” Using all of her strength, [name_f]Lilivere[/name_f] pressed the pendant into Aradia’s hand. “It… survived. I did… my best.”
“Of course you did. Don’t you always? Why are you—”
“Radia… promise me… you’ll keep it safe.”

From The [name_f]Princess[/name_f] And Her Servant (this one sort of spoils the ending, but oh well)

“Princess? Are you alright?”
“I’m better than I’ve been in a long time.”
“Me too.”
“I can’t believe we’re really here. Together. I’m so afraid…”
“That this is all just a dream? That you’ll wake up and everything won’t be okay? So am I.”
“At least if this is your dream, that means you’re alive. If it’s mine… I was so scared of losing you. Forever.”
“Well, if things work according to plan, I’m not going to leave you anytime soon. We’ll see each other almost everyday.”

[name_u]New[/name_u] Word: Pendant

[name_u]Sanya[/name_u] was wearing a gray shirt and slacks with a purple overcoat. Some sort of silvery pendant hung from a chain around his neck–probably a dangerous weapon, in the hands of a Durast.
“Dangerous color combination for an undercover mission,” [name_m]Valentin[/name_m] noted.
“But I look great in purple!” [name_u]Sanya[/name_u] complained. “Plus, apparently the Kerch are into flashy colors.”
Valentin’s eyes roved over Sanya’s outfit. “Into flashy colors, hmm? Well, I think you’d look nice in green, if you’re in need of a change of pace.”
[name_u]Sanya[/name_u] winked. “I’ll take that into consideration.”

[name_u]Sanya[/name_u] spun around in a circle for [name_m]Valentin[/name_m] to see. The gray pants were similar to his old ones, but the black shirt was different, and the flashy bright green waistcoat was definitely different. A gray coat with a thin green pinstripe and the same silver pendant/potential deadly weapon completed the look.
“Wow,” said [name_m]Valentin[/name_m] approvingly. “You do look good in green.”
[name_u]Sanya[/name_u] batted his eyes. “Don’t I?”
[name_m]Valentin[/name_m] nodded sagely. “I can hardly believe that 24 hours ago you were delirious with fever in an alleyway.”

Yes, these scenes are both just of [name_u]Sanya[/name_u] trying on clothes. (And flirting.) (And being flirted with.)

From The Guard Of Dosta Series:

Kaylee rolled her eyes. “Says the guy who throws temper tantrums when things don’t go his way.” She had been dealing with Weylin’s taunts for most of her life. At this point, they were more annoying than anything else. “And where’s your Guardian?”
Now it was Weylin’s turn to choose whether or not to be angry. And it was clear from the outraged look in his green eyes which he would choose. “I’ll have one by the end of today!”
“That’s what you said last year, remember?” Because Kaylee sure remembered. The whole village probably remembered.
Weylin was seventeen and it had been a year since the local sorcerer, Adonis, had attempted to call up his Guardian. Previous to that, Weylin had bragged to everyone about how he was going to have the best Guardian ever. But, the attempt had failed. And to say Weylin had not taken it well would have been an understatement. He had practically exploded with anger, shouting that Adonis hadn’t tried hard enough. Eventually, he had stomped back to his house and wasn’t seen for almost a week.

From A Currently Untitled Book:

“Oh good. You’re awake. The magic TV thing won’t turn on. I’ve tried waving the weird rectangular wand thing at it and saying everything from abracadabra to open sesame. Nothing works. How do ya do it? Also, why do you look like you’re about to start laughing?”
“You’ve just got to point the remote at the TV and click the button that says ‘on’.”
“Which button is that?”
“Right there. That one.”
“You should’ve said it was green. I understand colors.”
“You can’t read?”
“Nope. Not at all. Unless it’s numbers. I know numbers. For example, I’m eighteen years, 5 months, and 8 days old, give or take a few days.”
“Wow. So, someone taught you math? But not reading?”
“I can count to a million and back down to zero. Had plenty of time to learn. Adding and subtracting, I believe?”
“Basically.”

New Word: Million

Note: I decided to change the new word. It is now million.

“I’m perfectly happy to stay right here,” said [name_m]Valentin[/name_m]. “The mission can wait.”
“Well, I can think of a million things that would be better to do right now,” [name_u]Sanya[/name_u] grumbled. “So you’re an idiot.”
[name_m]Valentin[/name_m] shrugged. “I’m a helpful idiot. And before you ask, no, whatever it is, I’m not going to let you do it.”
“No fair.”

“I mean, I could not do the whole ‘helpful angel from the stars’ thing, if it would make you feel better.” [name_u]Juniper[/name_u] slouched, putting on a pouty face. “Oh my god, [name_u]Basil[/name_u], what the heck is happening? We’re, like, five thousand million lightyears away from everything.” She stood up straight again. “But I think there are smarter things I could be doing.”
[name_u]Basil[/name_u] was giggling despite himself. This was a very convincing hallucination.

[name_f]Tesla[/name_f] jumped. She hadn’t been expecting a response at all, nevermind so quickly. “You scared me!”
“It’s what I do best,” [name_u]Hunter[/name_u] sounded amused, but didn’t smile. “What are you doing back here?”
“I need your help,” [name_f]Tesla[/name_f] replied. “There’s something, somewhere in Phibia, that’s causing magic everywhere to go haywire. I’ve been sent to find it. The only problem is that, well, I have no idea where to start.”
“I don’t know. It’s not me, that’s all I can tell you. Ask the Pixies. Maybe they know something. Although I doubt it.” [name_u]Hunter[/name_u] turned to leave.

[name_u]Sanya[/name_u] sniffed curiously. It smelled like regular jurda, but also different, like. . . he wasn’t sure what. Then his senses kicked into overdrive. He wondered if people knew that they had metal in their blood. It was cool! Suddenly, [name_f]Inessa[/name_f] grabbed him by the hand and tied a piece of fabric quickly around his face. She was wearing something similar.
Run,” [name_f]Inessa[/name_f] hissed. “Don’t look back.”
“Did you know that you have metal in your blood?” [name_u]Sanya[/name_u] asked.
[name_f]Inessa[/name_f] turned to look at him, alarm evident in her face. “Oh Saints. How much did you inhale?”

This is for anyone who’s read the Grishaverse, trying to explain why several [name_m]Grisha[/name_m] from pre-Alina Ravka are in a situation involving jurda parem. If you don’t care, ignore me. I doubt anyone here has read the Grishaverse, but if you have, no, this isn’t a continuity error. It’s not part of the main story, which takes place about two years before [name_f]Alina[/name_f] arrives at the [name_m]Little[/name_m] [name_u]Palace[/name_u], before jurda parem was invented. This is 4-ish years later, when they’re all 19/20 instead of 15/16 like in the main story, right around the same time as the events of Six of Crows. I just wanted to make them deal with parem in some small way because I thought it would be fun and I also really wanted to explore the concept of parem some more. And I picked on [name_u]Sanya[/name_u] because he’s fun to pick on. That’s literally why, no matter how hard I try, he’s insufferably good-natured.

Through the haze of battle, [name_f]Taliya[/name_f] heard Alyena’s voice screaming her name. She turned around. [name_f]Alyena[/name_f] was kneeling, trying to tend to an unconscious [name_u]Pasha[/name_u]. [name_f]Taliya[/name_f] ran, and [name_f]Alyena[/name_f] looked up and saw her. [name_f]Relief[/name_f] washed over Alyena’s features as she approached.
“Taliya, thank the Saints! Come quickly!”
[name_f]Taliya[/name_f] waved her hands over [name_u]Pasha[/name_u], making a cursory check. The bullet had gone deep, but not so deep she couldn’t repair the damage. “Don’t worry, Alya,” she said. “I got this. I’ll take care of your friend. I’ll get them out of here, and you go back to your post.”

“Yes, she is,” Starfire replied.
“And you? You’re that Dragon!”
“I am.”
“Why are you here? Don’t you know—”
“Don’t you know that it is against [name_u]Griffin[/name_u] [name_m]Law[/name_m] to have a conversation with intruders?” [name_u]Four[/name_u] more Griffins swooped down from the sky. But it was none of them who had spoken. It was a large dark colored [name_u]Griffin[/name_u] who strutted over as if he was someone of great importance. For one second, [name_f]Mia[/name_f] wondered why he hadn’t flown like the rest. Then, she noticed that most of his right wing was covered by a length of faded striped cloth.
“Ashwing! I—”
“Silence, Fireclaw! I should have you punished. I’d like to have you punished.”

From The [name_f]Princess[/name_f] And Her Servant (SPOILER ALERT):

“Your Majesty,” [name_m]Morris[/name_m] [name_m]Morrison[/name_m] joined them. Despite his calm tone of voice, he was clearly also angry at [name_m]King[/name_m] [name_m]Henrich[/name_m]. “That so-called nothing saved your daughter’s life. You should be grateful.” Turning to Malarrea, the advisor held out a piece of cloth. “A very skilled healer, [name_f]Beatrix[/name_f] [name_m]Fletcher[/name_m], will be here soon. In the meantime, she says to do what we can to stop him from losing too much more blood.”
“Thank you, Morris.” Malarrea took the cloth and pressed it to the wound on her friend’s side. She wished he would open his eyes and say something. What she would give to hear his voice. But, he just laid there, still. His breathing was shallow. “Oh, [name_u]Devin[/name_u]. You have to hold on. [name_m]Just[/name_m] hold on. You’ll be alright. You have to be alright. You have a whole life ahead of you. And, I promise, you’re free. [name_u]Free[/name_u] to go wherever you want, do whatever you want.”

“I never thought I’d hear someone say that sentence so casually.” [name_f]Lunette[/name_f] was more than a little shocked. That day was just full of surprises, wasn’t it? Now, she was going to be traveling on a haunted ship.

This one’s from my [name_u]South[/name_u] [name_u]Park[/name_u] fanfiction:

A very tired and irate Father [name_u]Maxi[/name_u] opened the door. “Darn it, [name_m]Eric[/name_m] Cartman, what are you doing at my house at this hour? You better have a good explanation as to why you’re banging on my door in the middle of the night!”

“Father, I request sanctuary!” Cartman exclaimed.

And this one’s from a Hetalia/Bleach/etc. crossover fanfiction:

[name_m]Aizen[/name_m] stood up slowly, wiping blood away from his nose; [name_m]Lui[/name_m] had hit him really hard. “That wasn’t very nice, brat.” He advanced towards the three siblings, ready to take [name_m]Lui[/name_m] down for punching him, then grabbed the young man by his hair.

But the commotion wasn’t over quite yet. And [name_m]Weylin[/name_m] seemed to want to make things even worse for himself. “You tell him, Mrs. Sutton!” He cheered, causing both of Kaylee’s parents to focus on him. It would have been wiser to just walk away in silence.
“Now I’ll tell you.” Mrs. [name_f]Sutton[/name_f] didn’t even try to hide the frustration in her voice. “I’ll tell you good. If that scene didn’t involve my [name_f]Kaylee[/name_f], I’d have been content to watch [name_m]John[/name_m] [name_m]Evans[/name_m] do whatever he wanted to you. It would do you some good to be knocked around a bit.”
“Now hold on…” [name_m]Weylin[/name_m] trailed off and sheepishly murmured “Yes Ma’am.”

From City Of Goblins

“Do you think he’s really dead?” The civilian was back to questioning the Soldier again.

“Please, do.”
“It was late at night when [name_m]Roark[/name_m] saw the traitor. Like a true Soldier, he attacked with as much force as he could. Of course, [name_m]Apollo[/name_m] fought back. But, he was no match for our secret weapon. By the time he finally ran away, he was bleeding very badly. There’s a good chance that he’s dead. After all, he is alone in the world. [name_m]Adonis[/name_m] cleared his throat and then pointed to the Calling Circle. “You know how this goes, [name_m]Weylin[/name_m] Hendrix.” He motioned for everyone to be silent. “And take whatever you get calmly this time.” [name_m]Weylin[/name_m] stood in the center of the circle, attempting to look confident. [name_m]Adonis[/name_m] murmured the same strange words again and shouted “Will [name_m]Weylin[/name_m] Hendrix’s [name_m]Guardian[/name_m] come forth now?!”
A few seconds later, many tiny golden orbs appeared near Weylin’s feet and materialized into… a small reddish brown salamander. [name_m]Weylin[/name_m] stared at his [name_m]Guardian[/name_m] with a look of alarm and disbelief. “No,” He whispered. Then louder, he yelled “No! There’s been some mistake! “Say you made a mistake!” [name_f]Alyena[/name_f] cried.
[name_f]Inessa[/name_f] spread her hands helplessly. “I don’t make mistakes! There’s nothing I can do!”
[name_f]Alyena[/name_f] flexed her fingers unconsciously, and [name_f]Inessa[/name_f] felt her pulse speed up. She couldn’t blame her, honestly. If it were [name_f]Taliya[/name_f] lying in that bed, perhaps they would be having a different conversation.
