Thoughts on these names? [name_m]Favorite[/name_m], least favorite and why? [name_m]Just[/name_m] curious! I understand they are fairly ‘clunky’ and not everyone’s taste TY!
i love bernadette! my only snag with it is it meaning ‘bear’ and the nickname being 'birdie. but im one to get stuck in meanings, the name and nickname are super cute and unique.
bernice is the least favorite for me. a bit… too vintage. but that’s just thinking about it, everything changes once you see a kid wearing it. it’s happened many times with boy names for me, suddenly alfred, walter and ernest became cool on young people.
@Greyblue@Aren i figured [name_f]Bernice[/name_f] wouldn’t be the favorite I am terrible about meanings, so I never thought of the bear thing! NMS, But [name_f]Bernadette[/name_f] “teddy” could be really cute!!!
I have had a soft spot for [name_f]Bernice[/name_f] ever since I met a little [name_f]Bernice[/name_f] when I was about nine years old. I think it’s so sweet-sounding and severely underrated! [name_f]Bernice[/name_f] deserves more love. 🩵
[name_f]Bernadette[/name_f] and [name_f]Bernadine[/name_f] are much heavier-sounding, imho. However, I think they are perfectly fine! I can’t think of anything really negative about them, and “Birdie” would be such a bright and charming nn for either one.
[name_f]Bernice[/name_f] is one of my favorite names, and [name_f]Birdie[/name_f] would be the sweetest nickname!
[name_f]My[/name_f] least favorite is [name_f]Bernadine[/name_f], but just because my only association with the name is a mean spirited internet personality—although I think she’s actually a [name_f]Bernardine[/name_f] and I would guess that she’s not very well known.
I love the sound of all of these names and I have always loved the idea of the nickname [name_f]Nadia[/name_f] for [name_f]Bernadette[/name_f] (or Bernadine) !
@acajou i love hearing this! [name_f]Do[/name_f] you think [name_f]Bernice[/name_f] would suit child born today? i can’t tell if it fits into the other popular vintage names, or if it’s a little too out there. Also [name_f]Nadia[/name_f] is so gorgeous!
There’s a film with [name_f]Sandra[/name_f] Bullock called [name_f]Hope[/name_f] Floats where the young daughter is named [name_f]Bernice[/name_f]. It feels like a sweet little girl’s name to me because of that movie (and I just remembered that [name_f]Sandra[/name_f] Bullock’s character is named Birdee!!)
You already know I’m on team [name_f]Bernice[/name_f] and [name_f]Birdie[/name_f] is a fabulous nickname. I’ve also seen [name_f]Bunny[/name_f] & [name_f]Bea[/name_f] as nicknames for [name_f]Bernice[/name_f] which I love
I think [name_f]Bernadette[/name_f] is super cute and has a punchy sound that I enjoy. Honestly all of these names are pretty great!
my favorite is bernadette! i associate her with the youtuber bernadette banner, who is a seamstress and clothing historian, so the name feels a little more fresh to me. i also like the potential nickname ettie, but birdie is cute as well
my least favorite is bernice - the sound is a bit unappealing to me!
How cool!! [name_f]Ettie[/name_f] is adorable. Honestly Dettie isn’t bad either and i just realized that [name_f]Dot[/name_f] or [name_f]Dottie[/name_f] MAYBE could work, maybe a little stretchy. I think there are definitely options!
[name_f]Bernadette[/name_f] is my favorite by far. So sweet! I knew an old lady named [name_f]Bernadette[/name_f] years ago who went by Ms. [name_f]Bunny[/name_f] and I always loved saying her name!
