The F Word - do we like?

I’m in love with F girl names at the moment, and a little out there/ unusual ones especially.

What do you think of the following? Would you use any?

What imagery do they give? Any good middle name options (some aren’t ideal to me but would love to hear)?

And do you know any others like these names (or what are other F gal names you like)?

Faline
Fifer
Fallon
Farron
Flordelis (middle name only I think?)
Ferelith

Edit: these are new or fairly new additions to my long-loves list (Flora, Frances, Francie etc).

The one that really intrigues me is [name_f]Flordelis[/name_f] which gives me similar vibes to the ones I’ve listed for @heartwings names on her post, but with an added [name_u]Florentine[/name_u] grandeur! It makes me think of opera for some reason. But yes, middle name only I think.

Some F names I like -

[name_f]Fenna[/name_f]
[name_f]Fenja[/name_f]
[name_f]Fauna[/name_f]
[name_u]Fable[/name_u]
[name_f]Francie[/name_f]
[name_f]Finola[/name_f]
[name_f]Fenella[/name_f]
[name_f]Freyja[/name_f] (but its popularity is an issue for me).

[name_f]My[/name_f] absolute favourite is [name_u]Fern[/name_u]!

I also like [name_f]Ferelith[/name_f], [name_f]Flora[/name_f], [name_f]Fenja[/name_f], [name_f]Finja[/name_f], [name_u]Finnegan[/name_u], [name_u]Flannery[/name_u], [name_u]Forest[/name_u], [name_u]February[/name_u] and [name_f]Forsythia[/name_f]

I like names that start with an ‘F’.
[name_f]My[/name_f] faves for boys are [name_m]Freyr[/name_m], [name_u]Florence[/name_u], [name_u]Florian[/name_u], [name_m]Fred[/name_m] and my faves for girls are Fleuriel/ Fleur/ Fleury, Florabel/ Florabeth, [name_f]Freya[/name_f], [name_f]Frances[/name_f], [name_f]Ferelith[/name_f], Fey/ [name_f]Fae[/name_f], [name_f]Fawn[/name_f], [name_f]Frida[/name_f], [name_f]Faline[/name_f]

[name_f]Faline[/name_f] - I really love this one! Fragile, ultra feminine, beautiful. I think of graceful little deers or of adorable little cats.
[name_u]Fifer[/name_u] - I like this one way more than [name_u]Piper[/name_u] (I think of underground drainage, and toilets when I hear Piper🥲). [name_u]Fifer[/name_u] is fun and spunky. But it’s still not my taste
[name_u]Fallon[/name_u] - I like this in theory (I think of 12 dancing princesses by Barbie). But when I really start to think about, it reminds me of ‘fallos’ or ‘falling’
Farron - I like this. But I also think of ferrets for some very random reason.
[name_f]Flordelis[/name_f] - very cool, love! A little tongue twister, but Id like this as a middle
[name_f]Ferelith[/name_f] - love this one, but I read it wrong every time - fairylight. I like [name_f]Fairylight[/name_f] even more, both are on my UC card :sparkles:

[name_u]Fable[/name_u] and [name_f]Francie[/name_f] are so pretty! :cherry_blossom: I like the others though some don’t quite work in an Australian accent (eg [name_f]Fauna[/name_f] & Fenna).

Haha ferrets! I really want Farron to work as I find it so confident, but I wouldn’t want the kid to be called Fahrenheit or have the nn [name_u]Ronny[/name_u]! I know someone on here ended up calling their daughter Faralith (as an adaptation of Ferelith) I guess to avoid any mix ups with the “feral” sound. These are high risk, high reward names!

[name_u]Fern[/name_u] is such a likeable name! I would be so discombobulated if I met a horrible [name_u]Fern[/name_u]. I hadn’t heard of [name_f]Forsythia[/name_f]! :ear_of_rice:

I’ve never heard of Farron till now! I love it! In addition to [name_u]Fifer[/name_u]! If you don’t mind me asking, where did u find these?

For middles I like:
Farron [name_f]Wildflower[/name_f]
Farron [name_u]Calloway[/name_u]
Farron [name_f]Tamsin[/name_f]
Farron [name_m]Pendragon[/name_m]

I can’t remember where I picked up [name_u]Fifer[/name_u] (which is Scottish “Piper”), it was over a decade ago - and I still love it. I saw Farron on here a few days ago when searching for rocker/unfussy girl names for a friend (who is pregnant). Farron/Faron/Farren is actually a boys’ name I’ve just seen now (meaning handsome servant…hmmmm).

Thanks for the awesome middles!

[name_f]Faline[/name_f] ~ can’t get away from the [name_f]Bambi[/name_f] association but it’s nice! It feels very [name_f]Americana[/name_f] to me somehow.

[name_u]Fifer[/name_u] ~ very fun, not sure I can see it on an adult?

[name_u]Fallon[/name_u] ~ first encountered this as a boy name but I actually like it on a girl. Outdoorsy and kinda 80s (I think that’s [name_u]Dynasty[/name_u] talking?). In the All Souls books, the vampire main character has two dogs named [name_m]Hector[/name_m] and [name_u]Fallon[/name_u] so it makes me think of that.

Farron ~ very similar to [name_u]Fallon[/name_u], I like it less because it sounds like barren, Darren…

[name_f]Flordelis[/name_f] ~ adore this name, it feels medieval and romantic, but agree the spelling could cause issues. Best as a brave middle?

[name_f]Ferelith[/name_f] ~ I absolutely love this name, it has the ‘th’ sound I’m often drawn to, it’s Gaelic and it has such a good meaning. I think of ancient Scottish princesses and lady knights :crossed_swords: the only reason I’m not planning to use this for a real child is that I can’t think of a nickname that I like with my surname!

Others I like:
[name_f]Flora[/name_f] / [name_u]Florence[/name_u]
[name_f]Felicity[/name_f]
[name_f]Faye[/name_f] / [name_f]Fae[/name_f]
[name_f]Florianna[/name_f]
[name_f]Fioralba[/name_f]
[name_f]Fleur[/name_f] / Fleurie
[name_f]Fawn[/name_f]
[name_f]Fritha[/name_f] / Fritheswithe / [name_f]Frideswide[/name_f]

[name_f]My[/name_f] two favorite unusual-ish F names are:

Frith/Frith, [name_u]Saxon[/name_u] version of [name_f]Freya[/name_f] and the main character of [name_m]Paul[/name_m] Gallico’s The [name_u]Snow[/name_u] [name_m]Goose[/name_m].
[name_f]Floria[/name_f]. I like this better than [name_f]Flora[/name_f]. It’s after [name_f]Floria[/name_f] [name_f]Tosca[/name_f], one of my favorite operas that I’ve worked on.

I love [name_f]Faline[/name_f] but can’t get away from [name_f]Bambi[/name_f], but in Italian, Falina is lovely.

@EloiseT I really loved [name_u]Fifer[/name_u] and [name_u]Fallon[/name_u] especially! I see a spunky little girl in a sundress running through fields of daises or sunflowers. I see lots of happiness and and the color yellow! Some other names starting with F that I love are:

[name_u]Frankie[/name_u]
[name_f]Felicity[/name_f]
[name_f]Fiona[/name_f]
[name_f]Freya[/name_f]

I hope this helps!

:butterfly::white_heart:

[name_f]Faline[/name_f]: I’ve always liked this name and thought it should be more popular than it is. Maybe the [name_f]Bambi[/name_f] association is too strong? But it sounds soft and delicate, but not too out there.

[name_u]Fifer[/name_u]: For me, it’s a try-hard version of [name_u]Piper[/name_u] with a masculine sound.

[name_u]Fallon[/name_u]: I quite like the unisex vibe of this name. I knew a girl who pronounced it fal-LAHN as opposed to FAL-lin and I slightly prefer that pronunciation out of familiarity, but I’ve never encountered it anywhere else.

Farron: I actually prefer this to [name_u]Fallon[/name_u]! It’s super cool. I prefer the spelling [name_m]Farren[/name_m], I think it looks more first name-y.

[name_f]Flordelis[/name_f]: This is intriguing. Where I live the fleur de lis symbol is ubiquitous so would definitely be GP for anyone in my area, lol.

[name_f]Ferelith[/name_f]: A really cool name and very fun to say. I have trouble envisioning it on a real person, though. Maybe meeting one would help that.

Some F names that I like are…
[name_f]Felicity[/name_f]
[name_f]Farrah[/name_f]
[name_f]Fay[/name_f] / [name_f]Faye[/name_f]
[name_f]Francesca[/name_f]
[name_f]Fabiana[/name_f] / [name_f]Fabianna[/name_f]

Also not a big fan of fifer, fallon or farron but they’re just not my style - these to me are very masculine, [name_m]Tom[/name_m] boy, skater esque names
