The most beautiful girl names, and why?

Having zero inspiration strikes hard, with not currently liking almost not even one name like before (I feel like only [name_f]Frida[/name_f] and [name_f]Elisabeth[/name_f] stay with me)! So I had a question for the Berries:

What is / are the most beautiful sounding/looking/by meaning girl names for you? Why so?

I’m with you on [name_f]Elisabeth[/name_f], though I prefer the ā€œzā€ spelling. It’s so elegant and regal, but warm and accessible. I think [name_f]Rose[/name_f] may be the ā€œmost beautifulā€ name, with that punch of a gorgeous, one-syllable sound and the floral meaning, plus its timelessness. And I think [name_f]Olivia[/name_f] gets a bad rap because of its popularity, but when you say it, it’s just so lovely!

I think my style of name, and what I consider to be a beautiful name, really comes down to the sound and the feeling it gives off. I quite like names that have a softer, gentle sound.
The feelings all my favourite names give are calm, peaceful, gentle etc.

[name_f]My[/name_f] favourites that fit this bill are [name_f]Daphne[/name_f], [name_f]Liliwen[/name_f], [name_f]Eowyn[/name_f], [name_f]Elowen[/name_f], and [name_f]Tabitha[/name_f].

[name_f]Tabitha[/name_f]- This one has more of a personal link to it. It makes me think of my grandparents, and rainy days, as a child, reading [name_f]Beatrix[/name_f] [name_m]Potter[/name_m].

it’s a good question! i don’t necessarily consider all my favourite names ā€˜beautiful’ - some are more cute, some spunky. i think for me my favourite beautiful names would be:

tatyana - there’s just something about her sound that’s really beautiful and balanced to me, how the chirpy ā€˜t’ sounds flow into the smooth melodic ending through the playful ā€˜ya’ syllable

flora - soft, graceful, versatile; i associate her with fresh flowers and jam tarts on early mornings

madlenka - a strong beauty, like a lady knight, powerful and sturdy - with her sweeter nicknames that make her feel all-around ethereal to me

luisa - sunny and lively, the kind of beauty that flickers in orange & red to the sounds of live music

[name_f]Vera[/name_f]
[name_u]Haven[/name_u]
[name_f]Sylvie[/name_f]
[name_f]Esther[/name_f]
[name_f]Zelda[/name_f]

These all have a mystical vibe to me which I find really pretty!

Here is a list that I like…

[name_f]Allaire[/name_f] --bright, refreshing, uncommon. Very summer day vibes for me.

[name_f]Lydia[/name_f] - it has a such soft and melodic sound, and it means ā€˜beautiful one’

Merete - it holds a classic elegance without being too dated and the spelling is just lovely

[name_f]Mireille[/name_f] - I love the sound, and I love how magical the spelling is! makes me think of periwinkles, snow, and ballet :ballet_shoes:

[name_f]Delilah[/name_f] - similar to [name_f]Lydia[/name_f], it just has a sort of musical sound to it!

[name_f]Lavender[/name_f] - the meaning, the soft sound, the rarity, and the images of lavender that it invokes

[name_f]Soraya[/name_f] - celestial, radiant, and cosmic, love the open vowels

[name_f]Lunaria[/name_f] - delicate, lilting, and mysterious, full of nature vibes and a gorgeous meaning: ā€œsong of the moonā€

[name_f]Ophelia[/name_f] - the ultimate Shakespearean beauty, ethereal, moody, and soft

[name_f]Seraphina[/name_f] / [name_f]Serafina[/name_f] - soft, but fiery, with an angelic meaning

Lirael - beautiful in an airy, liquid, ethereal way

[name_f]Cordelia[/name_f] - beautiful and strong and a little witchy, with a gorgeous meaning and the added bonus of a [name_m]Shakespeare[/name_m] connection

[name_f]Melusine[/name_f] - sleek and mermaidesque, like looking at sunlight on water from underneath the surface

[name_f]Cosima[/name_f] - soft, but powerful and full of stardust

[name_f]Vashti[/name_f] - beautiful in a velvety rich, lush, sensual way

[name_f]Wisteria[/name_f] - my favorite flower, an ethereal and deeply fragrant memory

I recognize that these examples are a little more over-the-top than [name_f]Frida[/name_f] or [name_f]Elisabeth[/name_f], so I’ll also include some of my more common favorites:

Not a comprehensive list of names I love, but a sampling!
[name_f]Rose[/name_f] - This has always felt like ā€˜my’ girls’ name; apart from the fact that roses are gorgeous gorgeous flowers, I love that it manages to sound gentle & Victorian whilst still being simple, familiar and strong
[name_f]Anna[/name_f] - Tolstoy! And one of the greatest ballerinas in history! Anothe short strong simple classic, but she has a sleek strong softness that’s entirely her own
[name_f]ChloĆ«[/name_f] - [name_f]My[/name_f] current name crush! I worry she sounds a little dated, but in fact she’s a biblical/mythical pick and I’ve always found the ā€˜oe’ sound paired with the stronger hard c absolutely stunning
[name_f]Clara[/name_f] - Another one with ballet undertones, but such a warm, cosy, homespun feel to her that melts my heart
[name_f]Eliza[/name_f] - Such a sleek, streamlined, elegant name, steeped in such extraordinary history! I’ve heard her described as harsh but to me she’s just kick*ss
[name_f]Iris[/name_f] - Essentially I love all flower names, but this one feels a little special - she has such a quiet strength to her, not to mention a mythological feel!
(Honourable mentions: [name_f]Susanna[/name_f], [name_f]Madelaine[/name_f], [name_f]Naomi[/name_f] and Genevieve!)

The names for girls I love most are

[name_f]Ruth[/name_f] - I love its meaning ā€˜compassionate friend’, the biblical story and that it isn’t overly common. It’s also one syllable, which I like because, I would prefer my daughter’s name not to be shortened.

[name_f]Faye[/name_f] - Also short, simple and the lovely meaning ā€˜fairy’. The soft sound of [name_f]Faye[/name_f] also really appeals to me.

[name_f]Genevieve[/name_f] - Although this name may likely be shortened, I like most of the options, [name_f]Gen[/name_f], [name_f]Geni[/name_f], [name_f]Eve[/name_f] or [name_f]Evie[/name_f] are all lovely.

[name_f]Jennifer[/name_f] - I’m in the UK, and over here [name_f]Jennifer[/name_f] has never been as overused as it has in the US. I like [name_f]Jen[/name_f] and [name_f]Jennie[/name_f] as nicknames, and [name_f]Jennifer[/name_f] is a Cornish name, and I have Cornish ancestry.

[name_f]Cordelia[/name_f] - a more recent discovery I love the sound and meaning of this name, but I am more likely to put it in the middle spot as it seems a bit of a mouthful, and I’m not sure about the nicknames for this one.

[name_u]Rae[/name_u] - Another sudden passion. It’s the sound here, and the [name_f]Star[/name_f] Wars connection, making [name_u]Rae[/name_u] at once both glamorous and strong. I think I would seriously consider it.

[name_f]Rose[/name_f] - [name_f]Beautiful[/name_f] flower name, overused in the middle spot, but I would use it as a first name.

[name_f]Rosenwyn[/name_f] - Another Cornish name that translates to ā€˜fair rose’ Unusual and still gives the option of ā€˜Rose’ as a nickname.

Finally, [name_f]Emma[/name_f]. This is a name I totally ignored until I recently discovered that it means ā€˜universal’. Meanings are important to me, so [name_f]Emma[/name_f] also goes on my list of the most beautiful girl names.

I do love many others, but I think these are at the very top.

I love names that run like water over my tongue for girls. The more mellifluous the better! Most welsh names ending in wen also give me the same feel.
Names like:
[name_f]Elowen[/name_f]
Lalique
[name_f]Lilia[/name_f]
[name_f]Guinevere[/name_f]
[name_f]Arwen[/name_f]

I also love names that I associate with beauty like gemstones and flowers, like:
[name_f]Opal[/name_f]
[name_f]April[/name_f]
[name_f]Emerald[/name_f]
[name_u]Lazuli[/name_u] (this name fits both categories!)
[name_f]Wisteria[/name_f]
[name_f]Zinnia[/name_f]

Names that have Spanish/ Italian and [name_u]French[/name_u] origin also sound beautiful to my ear:
[name_f]Paloma[/name_f]
[name_f]Esmeralda[/name_f]
[name_f]Fiammetta[/name_f]
[name_f]Fiorella[/name_f]
[name_f]Catalina[/name_f]
[name_f]Monet[/name_f]

Sometimes if a name has an exceptionally beautiful meaning or takes me somewhere then even if I don’t love the sound I will still love the name like:
[name_f]Araluen[/name_f]
[name_u]Blythe[/name_u]

[name_f]Julieta[/name_f] (joo-lee-eh-ta) - this name takes the pretty and timeless [name_f]Juliet[/name_f] which I’ve been drawn to since I was a child and makes it even prettier if that’s possible lol. I like the look of it, especially that it isn’t too frilly like some other spelling variants are, and it makes such a smooth, lilting sound. Undeniably feminine and has a classy quality. [name_f]My[/name_f] nickname preference for it is [name_f]Etta[/name_f], mainly because it isn’t very heard of and I find it girly without overdoing it.

Madalina (mad-uh-lee-na) - it’s a rarity where I am, if a name is going to be unique in my region it gets major points & consideration from me. I began to like this name because I liked [name_f]Madeline[/name_f] and [name_f]Madeleine[/name_f] a lot but felt a little dejected because they’re very over used where I live. So I knew of the Romanian version, Mădălina, and Anglicized it myself to Madalina which I think is honestly more beautiful than [name_f]Madeline[/name_f] or [name_f]Madeleine[/name_f] now is. I also have a soft spot for the nickname [name_f]Mada[/name_f], it sounds so distinct and strong & gets away from the redundancy of another [name_f]Maddy[/name_f] / [name_f]Maddie[/name_f]. The pronunciation is the main thing that I love though and second after that would be its origin.

[name_f]Emerald[/name_f]
[name_f]Danica[/name_f]
[name_f]Jessamine[/name_f]
[name_f]Elise[/name_f]
[name_f]Eva[/name_f]
[name_f]Noelle[/name_f]
[name_f]Delilah[/name_f]

a lot of the names i find beautiful have an old Hollywood and vintage vibe to them like vivien, elizabeth, audrey and charlotte, i find names that end it ette like charlotte, scarlet and juliet to be really beautiful because i associate the ette sound with femininity for some reason.

[name_f]Mehetabel[/name_f] - for me it’s just the right combination of feminine and ā€œnot too softā€, clunky and fresh

[name_f]Tomine[/name_f] - it sounds a little tomboy-ish but very feminine at the same time. Saying it out loud just makes me smile

[name_f]Agathe[/name_f] - I just love the sound of it, it’s both clunky (in a good way and elegant) and has the gemstone connection, which is always a plus

[name_f]Keshet[/name_f] - it just sounds so fresh, it’s fun to say and I love the meaning

[name_f]Providence[/name_f] - I love the meaning, and again it’s fun to say, feels a little unisex but feminine at the same time

[name_f]Saffron[/name_f] & Safran - I don’t know exactly why I find these so pleasing and elegant, but I do

alice
charlotte
eliza
madeleine
rosanna
stella

these names all share certain qualities to me - i just find them lovely to say and look at. they give off very refined & elegant vibes and could really be anyone.
