The name Angel for a boy?

What do you think about the name [name_u]Angel[/name_u] for a boy? The name [name_u]Angel[/name_u] is a unisex name. Some people I’ve spoken to said it’s mostly a Hispanic/South American name. Have you ever met a white guy named [name_u]Angel[/name_u] or mostly Hispanic guys named [name_u]Angel[/name_u] in places like [name_u]North[/name_u] [name_u]America[/name_u], [name_m]Britain[/name_m], and various European nations?

Many European languages have variants and [name_m]Angelo[/name_m] is one of the top 50 Italian boy names.

I don’t mind the name, though I’ve only known of [name_u]Angel[/name_u] being used in Hispanic cultures and communities. I would find it odd to see the name worn as a first name by someone who wasn’t Hispanic. I find [name_u]Angel[/name_u] to be an easier middle name or second middle name to use across cultures. I think any of it’s variants would also be easier to use.

I really like it but it is definitely a Spanish/Hispanic name to me, if that’s something you’re unsure about. I’ve never met someone without that heritage with the name (except for a few little girls). It’s a nice enough name but I much prefer [name_m]Angelo[/name_m], which is beautiful.

absolutely not. if you really must at least make it a middle, they would be teased so much. [name_m]Angelo[/name_m] however is fine

I live in Greece and one of my classmates is called Angelos which is “angel” in Greek
It’s an unusual name but he doesn’t get made fun of or seem to mind it, despite the feminine form [name_f]Angeliki[/name_f] being so popular for girls
Still, I’d advice you used [name_m]Angelo[/name_m] instead just in case

I live in [name_m]Britain[/name_m] and I’ve never met a male [name_u]Angel[/name_u], though I do know a female one. To be honest I think [name_u]Angel[/name_u] would be a difficult name for a boy to pull off here, especially if you’re using the English pronunciation rather than the Spanish. The English pronunciation definitely sounds rather feminine to me.

I think outside hispanic culture [name_u]Angel[/name_u] is more often used on a girl, so if I meet a male [name_u]Angel[/name_u] I’d assume he’s hispanic, but even if he’s not I guess it’s not a big deal? People can just accept that it’s his name and get over it. If you’re still unsure though, or afraid you’d get teased (which may happen), [name_m]Angelo[/name_m] is a good option.
