Okay, so my husband is named after his father. Their names are [name_u]Barry[/name_u] [name_m]Joe[/name_m] and [name_u]Barry[/name_u] [name_m]Joe[/name_m] II. Personally, I do not want to have a III, so I came to the compromise to keep the name initials. I fell in love with the name Barrow as a modern twist on their names. What do you think??
Middle name will more than likely be [name_u]Jude[/name_u].
However when I see Barrow all I see is wheelbarrow so I am not a fan.
Maybe try another name similar to [name_u]Barry[/name_u]- [name_m]Bartlett[/name_m], [name_m]Bartholomew[/name_m] etc…
Hmm, I kind of like it. At first I thought it was pronounced like the word borrow. But then I found its pronunciation. If its pronounced the way I think it is not like Borrow then I like Barrow [name_u]Jude[/name_u]! Its a cool and different name which I always like.
I first read it as Borrow, but realized there was an A instead of an O and now all I could think of was a wheelbarrow. I’m not really a fan of the name. What about the name [name_u]Barrett[/name_u] or [name_m]Barnett[/name_m]?
My husband said the same thing about it sounding like wheelbarrow. Haha, but he said it was still growing on him. [name_m]Barnett[/name_m] was my uncle’s middle name though, so I like how it has a double meaning. I like [name_m]Barnett[/name_m], but he does not. [name_u]Barrett[/name_u] is too common for me! Thanks for the input!!!
It’s a character on Downton [name_u]Abbey[/name_u]. [name_m]Thomas[/name_m] Barrow. He is called Barrow since he is in service as an underbutler.
It is pretty clever, turning [name_u]Barry[/name_u] into Barrow. I like it, but I am also a huge Downton fan. It has the potential for teasing though. Wheel barrow. Suggestion: Baron/Barron
I [name_f]LOVE[/name_f] Barrow as a first or middle name it’s just neat it’s been on my list for a long while. I do admit I think of [name_m]Clyde[/name_m] Barrow when I see it though, I don’t find that association that bad though…lol, but not great either.
I like it, and I think it’s a great twist on [name_u]Barry[/name_u]. My first thought was actually of [name_m]Lord[/name_m] of the Rings, not sure if that would be a positive or negative for you… The reference to the ‘Barrow Downs’ and the ‘Barrow Wights’ from the first book. “The Barrow-downs, was an area of low hills to the east of the [name_f]Shire[/name_f] and the Old [name_m]Forest[/name_m], and west of the village of [name_f]Bree[/name_f].” My second thought was the city in [name_f]Alaska[/name_f] which gives it a very earthy, wilderness kind of feel. I do see people making mention of wheelbarrows, but that doesn’t really seem like very good material for teasing in my opinion. What else would they say except, “Oh Barrow like a wheelbarrow?” Ta da, end of discussion. I am also hopelessly fond of the name [name_u]Jude[/name_u] so I think the overall combination is quite wonderful. Barrow [name_u]Jude[/name_u] (or even [name_u]Jude[/name_u] Barrow) would make a very strong and memorable name. Good luck! =]
