Wondering which names are so common in your area that they’re becoming (or have become) as ubiquitous as the name [name_f]Jennifer[/name_f] was. I added “in your area” as I feel like this will differ depending on where you are!
For me, it would be [name_f]Olivia[/name_f] and [name_f]Sophia[/name_f].
For my area in the southeast US, Lily. I know 4 and have heard it out and about as well.
I only know one Sophia and have actively listened for it in the wild, but have never heard it used. I’ve come across a few Olivias and Avas though. The one Sophia I know is my 17yo niece and my sister in-law was telling me the other day that they’ve not really ran into any other Sophias either. My other niece is Ava and they have met some other Avas. They live in a different state in the southeast.
If I had to pinpoint just one specific name I would probably say [name_f]Ava[/name_f], maybe [name_f]Olivia[/name_f]. But in general it seems that names with L sounds are really having their moment where I live. I work with kids and know multiple girls named [name_f]Isla[/name_f], [name_f]Ayla[/name_f], [name_f]Leilani[/name_f], [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f], [name_f]Ellie[/name_f], [name_f]Elle[/name_f], Isabella/Isabel, [name_f]Penelope[/name_f], [name_f]Layla[/name_f], [name_f]Lola[/name_f], Lyla/Lilah, [name_f]Camila[/name_f]
For my area/social circle the one I hear surprisingly often is [name_u]Juniper[/name_u], I know ay least 5 Junipers (Which I love!) and of course [name_f]Olivia[/name_f].
Any Elena, Alaina, Lainey, Eliana, Lena…they all blend together and it seems like there is one everywhere. I also hear lots of names ending in -sley like Blakesley Kinsley
Editing to add Caroline! In my location I hear this one on all ages from adults to babies. I love the name but it is very very popular here.
In my own social circle, so over a wide geographic area but all in [name_u]England[/name_u], it’s [name_f]Matilda[/name_f]! I know about five under the age of 6!
Isla, Florence, Lily (despite other Lily variants being obscure and considered weird by others), Olivia + hyphenated first names featuring something Rose
