The nickname "Cole" for Nicholas?

What do you think of it? I really love [name]Nicholas[/name] and [name]Cole[/name] but I can’t stand [name]Nick[/name] so I fell in love with it when I saw it the other day. [name]Do[/name] you know any [name]Nicholas[/name]’ that go by [name]Cole[/name] in real life?

I know a Co or [name]Coe[/name]. Not sure how he’s spelling it but it seems to be the only thing he goes by!

I definitely think it can work. It is pleasingly unexpected from nicholas, but absolutely logical. Go for it!

I know a [name]Nicholas[/name] that goes by [name]Cole[/name]. I think it works. The [name]Cole[/name] sound is right there in the middle of [name]Nicholas[/name].

I love [name]Nicholas[/name] nn [name]Cole[/name]! If I used [name]Nicholas[/name], [name]Cole[/name] is definitely the nn I would use. It has the [name]Cole[/name] sound right there in the name, so I think it wouldn’t be too hard to enforce, even if people start trying to call him [name]Nick[/name]/[name]Nicky[/name] (which I really can’t stand, either!). In a perfect world, I would opt for [name]Nicholas[/name] nn [name]Claus[/name], but I’m not sure that would work too well in [name]America[/name]. :frowning: [name]Nicholas[/name] nn [name]Cole[/name] is usable, down-to-earth, handsome, and smart. I really like it.

Cole is an actual nn for Nicholas so it would definitely work! After all, the girls version is Nicole. I love Nico best of all.

I would definitely say [name]Cole[/name] works for [name]Nicholas[/name], it’s not a stretch at all yet completely fresh and unexpected. It wouldn’t be my personal choice of nickname but I see no reason why you can’t do it.

I feel exactly the same way. I would be sooo happy if I ever met a [name]Nicholas[/name] who went by [name]Cole[/name]! =]

It could totally work and I love it!However, there is a chance someone will start casually calling him [name]Nick[/name] though

I think it could work. [name]Cole[/name] actually is a legitimate nn for [name]Nicholas[/name].
