you dare to make me choose??!!?!
Mwahahaha
Marisol was on my first ever boy baby name list ā¦ I donāt even think its used for boys
[name_u]Sol[/name_u] definitely is used for boys, Iāve even heard [name_f]Mari[/name_f] as a nn for boys, but yea [name_f]Marisol[/name_f] isnāt used for boys this is coming from a Hispanic too. I believe itās a short form of a female saint but not completely sure.
THE PEOPLE HAVE SPOKEN, and rather unsurprisingly, we are not entirely in agreement.
nevertheless, I have compiled (and re-randomised), the top ten voted for names on each poll, slowly creeping closer to our final goal: some horribly chaotic and mismatched top ten.
vote for your favourite five names on each poll!

Say you were planning on using the name of someone you love to honor them, and, after expressing that intent, learned that they donāt actually like their name. Would you still use the name? [name_u]Or[/name_u] would it be weird to honor someone with a name they donāt even like? ([name_m]Even[/name_m] if you happen to love the name yourself.)
- Yes, Iād still use the name. Itās the intent behind it thatās important.
- No, Iād let the name go. Itās unfortunate, but it would be rather weird.
- I have a more complicated opinion and will @ you with it.

TIA!
@elanorelle
Iāve been through this myself with my dadās name. His name isnāt itself Jay, but Jay was a childhood nickname. I love the idea of a longer name with nn Jay or Jay as a mn, but he apparently has always hated it. itās so sad but I want him to feel happy about how I honor him with my childās name, not like āoh. I hate that name.ā
Yeah, thatās how Iāve been feeling. Thank you for sharing! Itās helpful to hear another personal experience.
if it was a name i loved, iād use it, but if it was a name that i liked but didnāt love i probably wouldnāt.
A TRAGEDY HAS OCCURRED
I forgot to check the percentages for some reason, and there was a tie that should have been broken, that I failed to break. I donāt know exactly how to redeem this, given how entirely under-way my pick five polls now are, but Iāll throw in a posthumous tiebreaker.

if you shared a surname with a āhousehold nameā celebrity but you loved their first name, would you still use it ifā¦
- The first name and surname were both common
- The first name was common but not the surname
- The surname was common but not the first name
- Neither the first name or surname were common

examples of each option if youāre confused
option 1: [name_u]Liam[/name_u] [name_m]Gallagher[/name_m]
option 2: [name_u]Freddie[/name_u] [name_u]Mercury[/name_u]
option 3: [name_u]January[/name_u] [name_m]Jones[/name_m]
option 4: [name_m]Ringo[/name_m] [name_f]Starr[/name_f]
(i know some of these are stage names but just pretend theyāre not)
I didnāt vote because I donāt think Iād use it in any situation. Itās funny you used [name_u]Liam[/name_u] [name_m]Gallagher[/name_m] as an example because I actually know a [name_u]Liam[/name_u] [name_m]Gallagher[/name_m], and he hated having that name so much that he changed his surname as an adult.
i also know a [name_u]Liam[/name_u] [name_m]Gallagher[/name_m], he inspired this question
How funny! Does he like his name?
Iāve been feeling a bit uninspired by my combos recently so I decided to mix it up and create some double middle combos.
Poll #1 - Does it have good flow? Please choose any/every combo you think flows nicely, ignoring whether you like the names or not.

Sorry this was long! And as always, please let me know if I borrowed a combo from you, or if you have a genuine concern about one of the names, like an association Iām not aware of.

I see [name_f]Nora[/name_f] somewhat regularly in polls, and Iāll vote for it if I genuinely prefer it to other names, but if it comes down to a tie or a close call, Iāll vote for the other name.
