The Quick Poll Thread! (Part 5)

Oh interesting! Whenever I’ve come across it in choir it’s been the ‘kirry’ pn :sweat_smile:

@persephonescrown @Wandarine Adding a third option to the mix, I’ve usually heard the liturgical term as kee-ree-eh or kee-ree-ay :sweat_smile:

As for the name, I would assume it was kai-ree because of [name_u]Kyrie[/name_u] Iriving the basketball player.

@handlion I’d say something between kee-ree and kih-ree

I think this is correct tbh, I was misremembering because it’s kyrie eleison and that last syllable gets a bit lost :sweat_smile: I revise my answer to kih-ree-ay

Yes but I only like it pronounced eh-NEED, I genuinely had no clue it could be pronounced different until [name_f]Wednesday[/name_f] and when I heard the other pronunciation I liked it a lot less :woozy_face:

For some reason [name_m]Friedrich[/name_m] nn [name_m]Fritz[/name_m] is the only one I like, even [name_m]Frederick[/name_m] doesn’t work for me!

okay, so personally i don’t like them very much on girls. however a decade ago, james would have sounded really strange on a girl to most people. so, you never know i guess, all it takes is one person (well more like two) and maybe arthur and magnus will become more common within girls :woman_shrugging:

I think they’d work in the middle, I know a decent number of girls with masculine middle names. Usually it’s for family reasons but I think even without that connection it would be fine. I wouldn’t use them as feminine first names, though.
