I voted nn, and Iâll put my reasoning in a summary box because it could be triggering.
I would have a really hard time interacting with someone named [name_f]Twiggy[/name_f]. I hope it doesnât sound mean, but the model is an overwhelming association with the name, and she defined a time when the trendy body shape for a woman was extremely thin and boyish. Iâve struggled with self image in relation to my body and its shape since I was 9 years old, and itâs caused health issues. The name [name_f]Twiggy[/name_f] is very much a reminder of society promoting a body type that isnât possible or healthy for every individual.

Like this subset ?
i honestly think itâs really sweet and i can tell you love it, so you should go for it and let her use ann if she ever wants to distance herself from the association- honestly after looking into twiggy despite the thinness association sheâs actually a really strong positive role model (iâm from a different era so i am kind of uneducated on the 60s as i wasnât alive ) honestly go for it, itâs sweet and the vibes are cool!!
this part may be a little triggering, read at own risk, not explicit details
i did consider voting nn because i have some body image issues relating to weight that have plagued me since a very young age but i think if she does really dislike the association, she could just use her middle name. itâs cute, and if u love it use it
Iâve got a sister [name_f]Violet[/name_f] and a cousin [name_f]Lyla[/name_f] (close to [name_f]Isla[/name_f], sound-wise), and speaking from experience⊠itâs impossible to tell the difference between these names when theyâre called out from a distance! The âeyeâ and âuhâ sounds make them sound the same! Thatâs the reason I voted no.

i think it can be a sweet nickname if you want to call her that and she likes it, but considering that the majority of women struggle with weight insecurity i just think itâs inappropriate and potentially a little cruel to put a name like twiggy on paper. thereâs no way to escape the association, and itâs one thatâs objectifying women at best (literally naming a woman after her body), and promoting really dangerous body ideals at worst. i could see it being a source of mockery from others if a person called twiggy didnât meet that unrealistic for most body standard

Itâs so strange because I just donât associate the two. When I thought of it, none of those thoughts (in regards to weight) occurred to me. It was the same to me as naming a baby [name_u]Hendrix[/name_u] or [name_u]Lennon[/name_u] as tribute to their favorite artists. Except for me it would be a fashion icon, since thatâs what resonates most with me. Like she has become the name. So itâs definitely interesting to me that some others view it this way. Which is why I asked and am second guessing it.
When I mentioned it in my personal circle, it was all positive feedback and everyone immediately thought of the person and not a weight referenceâŠ
