I voted nn, and I’ll put my reasoning in a summary box because it could be triggering.

I would have a really hard time interacting with someone named [name_f]Twiggy[/name_f]. I hope it doesn’t sound mean, but the model is an overwhelming association with the name, and she defined a time when the trendy body shape for a woman was extremely thin and boyish. I’ve struggled with self image in relation to my body and its shape since I was 9 years old, and it’s caused health issues. The name [name_f]Twiggy[/name_f] is very much a reminder of society promoting a body type that isn’t possible or healthy for every individual.

i honestly think it’s really sweet and i can tell you love it, so you should go for it and let her use ann if she ever wants to distance herself from the association- honestly after looking into twiggy despite the thinness association she’s actually a really strong positive role model (i’m from a different era so i am kind of uneducated on the 60s as i wasn’t alive ) honestly go for it, it’s sweet and the vibes are cool!!

this part may be a little triggering, read at own risk, not explicit details

i did consider voting nn because i have some body image issues relating to weight that have plagued me since a very young age but i think if she does really dislike the association, she could just use her middle name. it’s cute, and if u love it use it

I’ve got a sister [name_f]Violet[/name_f] and a cousin [name_f]Lyla[/name_f] (close to [name_f]Isla[/name_f], sound-wise), and speaking from experience
it’s impossible to tell the difference between these names when they’re called out from a distance! The ‘eye’ and ‘uh’ sounds make them sound the same! That’s the reason I voted no.

i think it can be a sweet nickname if you want to call her that and she likes it, but considering that the majority of women struggle with weight insecurity i just think it’s inappropriate and potentially a little cruel to put a name like twiggy on paper. there’s no way to escape the association, and it’s one that’s objectifying women at best (literally naming a woman after her body), and promoting really dangerous body ideals at worst. i could see it being a source of mockery from others if a person called twiggy didn’t meet that unrealistic for most body standard

It’s so strange because I just don’t associate the two. When I thought of it, none of those thoughts (in regards to weight) occurred to me. It was the same to me as naming a baby [name_u]Hendrix[/name_u] or [name_u]Lennon[/name_u] as tribute to their favorite artists. Except for me it would be a fashion icon, since that’s what resonates most with me. Like she has become the name. So it’s definitely interesting to me that some others view it this way. Which is why I asked and am second guessing it.
When I mentioned it in my personal circle, it was all positive feedback and everyone immediately thought of the person and not a weight reference
