The Quick Poll Thread! (Part 7)

i thought of the second one immediately when i was trying to think of a negative association to answer the poll but it’s never come to mind before. i didn’t come up with the first association, though i have heard of her and have some awareness of the whole situation. even though i’m familiar with both (and thought of one) i don’t count it as a negative association against the name because it doesn’t actually affect my perception of the name pearl at all.

I think of the influencer straight away but that’s bc I worked on a project on online misogyny I have no clue how well known she is in the mainstream (also her real name is Hannah). Tbh I think she’s just a flash in the pan - terrible influencers come and go, such is life.

I agree. I don’t think she has much staying power. A short-lived association for sure

I’ve never heard of either, and I don’t think relatively uncommon movies or influencers have much effect in the long term; I doubt most people know of either associations. Another person commented about [name_f]Annabelle[/name_f] being a horror movie bit also a well-liked name, and I think that since [name_f]Annabelle[/name_f] is a very famous franchise and still hasn’t ruined the name, less popular movies certainly wouldn’t.

It just reminds me too much of the show Wizards Of [name_u]Waverly[/name_u] Place, but I suppose that could be a positive association for some.

Not sure how well known they are - To Train Up a Child - Wikipedia huge content warning for child abuse, child death

I really like both [name_u]Saige[/name_u] and [name_u]Sage[/name_u] for a girl! [name_u]Saige[/name_u] is a little more cutesy.

I said yes, because I know of the associations you spoke of, but I don’t think it should deter you! I think the influencer will go away, she’s not that prominent anyways, just controversial. As for the horror movie, I love [name_f]Rosemary[/name_f] because of the book Rosemary’s [name_u]Baby[/name_u] so I can’t really comment on that lol. Ultimately, [name_f]Pearl[/name_f] is a lovely name and I don’t think these matter that much overall!

Yes I voted for the Ada combo because how could I not but ohhh… :face_holding_back_tears: this is so 10/10 gorgeous

The movies are immensely popular I think, but people really like them so I don’t think it’s a negative association.

When you talked about a negative association, I first thought of the rated-R definition of a pearl necklace. However, unless prompted, I don’t initially think of any negative associations with the name [name_f]Pearl[/name_f]. It’s beautiful! What

And I just dislike the sound of it, nothing in particular (like associations, being too childish…)
