Depends on how the full name is pronounced, tbh.
Dovey reads as doe-vee (doe rhyming with low), [name_f]Dovie[/name_f] reads more like dove-ee (dove rhyming with love).

i have been really into sweet nickname-y names recently and love carrie but it has such strong pop culture associations and i’m wondering what everyone’s general vibes of it are

is carrie too…
  • stephen king (horror book/movie)
  • carrie bradshaw (sex and the city)
  • both
  • neither
  • other

I prefer all different endings, then all the same endings, then more than one that doesn’t match, and only one being the odd one out would be my last choice.

In my accent I don’t think they sound anything alike

Sorry for so many, just being thorough

I voted for [name_m]Stephen[/name_m] [name_m]King[/name_m], because looking at it from a lens other than my own that is immediately where my mind goes, but I could have just as easily voted other, as my first association is with my aunt. Obviously that doesn’t apply to you, so I went with my other immediate thought!

Do Flora and Florence have the same imagery?

  • Yes
  • No (pls tag me to explain the difference if you can)

@lucidceleste Florence is old cities, regal luxury, subtly feminine and divine. Flora is spring, daisies, flower chains, cheeky smiles. Flora to me is tied to a happy and fun-loving childhood where Florence is tied to more a “elegant” and “refined” childhood. Flora is little extracurriculars as she prefers playing outside by herself and can’t commit to one activity. Florence is ballet and a serious dedication to her craft. Flora is being a kid and Florence is just…femininity almost? Not tied to a specific age. Both are different, but one isn’t inherently better! I used to like Flora more, but I lean more towards Florence these days.

Is there some connection between the names Shepherd and Gale? I paired the two in the combo Shepherd Gale for my UC, but the names kept pulling towards each other in the way names so often do when there is a common connection between them (example - Beatrice and Ramona, Juniper and Beatrice, Matilda and Lavender, etc)!

  • There is a connection between Shepherd and Gale in pop culture
  • There isn’t a common-knowledge connection between Shepherd and Gale, but I personally know of one
  • There is not a connection between Shepherd and Gale

florence is more buttoned-up, frumpy, old-lady, studious, old-soul, academia vibes
flora reminds me of the fairy from sleeping beauty so it’s more cottagecore

It reminds me of shepherds standing in gales of wind, but that might my rural roots coming out.

Thanks for replying! I don’t think I’ve even heard the term “gales of wind”…does that say something about me? Anyhow, thank you again! :white_heart:

florence feels more vintage & english traditional, very… idealized london-esque? to me! feminine and romantic in a buttoned-up, classic way, like long dresses, dark hair in bows, expensive perfume, and dusty bookshelves

flora feels a little gentler, more timeless & international & sweeter, more colourful and outdoorsy! where florence is meaningful flower bouquets, flora is fields of wildflowers, wearing sunhats to paint the scenery on the shores of the mediterannean, homemade cherry pies

[name_f]Carrie[/name_f] Underwood if anything lol but the name [name_f]Carrie[/name_f] is versatile enough to transcend its pop culture associations
