I mentally categorize these differently. Your description is more helpful and logical but I’m stuck in my chaotic ways.
Ultra short list = top 5! if I’m in a coma and you need to name my baby, pick off of this list and it’ll probably be fine
Short list = The List™️! this contains my top 5 but also the names that I would consider for a real child. The mentality is more like “baby doesn’t feel like my #1 top name so let’s turn to the short list” or “the names I would propose to a partner at first”
Medium list = The list (lowercase common noun). All the names I really enjoy. They may be more likely to be middle names, some of them I love but may not be something I’d actually use IRL. I think of it as “my partner hates all my names” or “none of the names I like work as a middle, time to broaden the search.”
[name_m]Long[/name_m] list = all the names I like. Often I turn to this list if someone posts on NB for suggestions or if I’m trying to use certain initials for a combo (I like a surprisingly low number of K names so I always have to run to the long list to remember Karina).
i loved doing this for some reason! for me, medium list names are all the ones that are current favs, whereas my short list has a few current favs but more forever favs. the medium list changes a lot more
also agree with @lateaugust, thats kinda how i see my list!
@lateaugust This actually makes a lot of sense, and I think is subconsciously how I view my lists, despite being too lazy to separate them in this way.
@oakbelle [name_f]My[/name_f] medium list is quite similar to this too! I feel like it’s the only one that changes super regularly, especially as I’m someone who tends to go through name phases a lot, but also feels like I don’t actually love any of my names at nearly every given time
I use onenote…i do also keep a long list on listography. But on onenote i just have a names section and each list is on a different page on the section. It’s also where I keep track of my name of the day/name of the week/name of the month data, as well as my top 25G/B NOTD that i track what my top favourites average out to be over time. I have also used excel to track some of this in the past.
