[name_f]My[/name_f] partner and I are in this exact situation. We both love this one boy name, and while i want a name out of the top 20, this is a top 5 name! But wed both rate is 8/9 out of 10, and our next best names are more like 6/7s, so they just dont compare, despite the unfortunate popularity. For girls we have 3 names we love similar amounts, so in that case we can avoid the most popular without it being a “loss”.

Do you make any association with the name “Pugsley”? I ask because I want to give it to a pug puppy, but I know that name is already known for one particular namesake.

In the slim chance you don’t already know, Pugsley is the name of the devious son of Gomez and Morticia Addams from The Addams family. I know the association probably doesn’t matter, since this is a literal dog we’re talking about, but I’d like to know how many people would automatically think “Addams Family” if I introduced my dog with that name.

I also think of Addams Family but I think it works (in a cute, Halloween way). I even know someone who has a pug named Pugsley.

I don’t think the name matters for a dog and I don’t think the Addams family is a bad association (I actually think it will be nice and cute) but I actually thought of Dudley Dursley first :sweat_smile:
