The Remi Project

[name]Hi[/name] all… I am having fun day dreaming about names, though we won’t know the sex until this summer. From my other posts you may know I love the idea of [name]Remi[/name] as a nickname for a girl.

So… I thought I would start a thread to help me find some more options for full names that can be nicknamed [name]Remi[/name].

Here are the options I have come up with (middle name [name]Marie[/name] is important unless I can get it in there in another way, such as [name]Rosemarie[/name]). Thoughts? Other suggestions?

[name]Rowan[/name] [name]Marie[/name]
[name]Remi[/name] [name]Marie[/name] (maybe it can stand on its own?)
[name]Rosemarie[/name] [name]Claire[/name] (Or [name]Rosemary[/name] nn [name]Remy[/name], but that’s further from [name]Marie[/name])
[name]Rosaline[/name] [name]Marie[/name]
Remielle [name]Marie[/name]
Remilee [name]Claire[/name] (no [name]Marie[/name] though)
Remaline [name]Marie[/name]
Remarie [name]Claire[/name]

Any others? Which of these do you find attractive? Which are too weird?

Oh my goodness…
Ha ha, okay, so [name]Remy[/name] (I prefer it spelled this way, personally), is my absolute favorite girl’s name. I mean it.
Like you, [name]Marie[/name] is an important name to use for me, as it’s my middle name and my great grandmother’s name.

Anyway, [name]Remy[/name] [name]Anne[/name] [name]Marie[/name] is on my favorites, at #1, because I love [name]Remy[/name], [name]Marie[/name] is my middle name, but [name]Remi[/name] [name]Marie[/name] doesn’t really work on it’s on… So, I threw in [name]Anne[/name]! And I personally think it’s perfect. Ha ha.

So, how about:
[name]Remi[/name] [name]Anne[/name] [name]Marie[/name]?

Let me know what you think! I’m so excited that someone loves the name [name]Remi[/name]/[name]Remy[/name] as much as I do. Ha ha

[name]Hi[/name] [name]Rachel[/name], that IS funny!

Unfortunately DH doesn’t like double first names (even [name]Rosemarie[/name] is pushing it) so I can’t add another but I think it is a great option for you!

I am kind of liking Remielle right now but not sure if its too out there?

[name]Hi[/name] [name]Erin[/name]!

[name]Remy[/name] is our #2 name for a boy ([name]Remy[/name] [name]Edward[/name] [name]Xavier[/name]), But I’ll try to be open minded!

I definitely prefer the [name]Remy[/name] spelling, it looks more grown up. From your choices, I think [name]Rosemarie[/name] [name]Claire[/name] would be a superb option. It gives her not only [name]Remy[/name] as a nickname bit the more feminine [name]Romy[/name] & [name]Rose[/name]/[name]Rosie[/name] should she want something more feminine than [name]Remy[/name] to fall back on. [name]Rosaline[/name] [name]Marie[/name], [name]Remy[/name] would be my almost tied second choice to get to [name]Remy[/name]. I waffle on [name]Rosa[/name]-LEEN or rosa-[name]LINE[/name] pronuncation. I know folks who’d say it both ways. And I like rosa-[name]LINE[/name] best. I’d hate to decide on one pronuncation and find out everyone in my town would say it the other way. So it makes #2.

I don’t think [name]RoseMARIE[/name] [name]Claire[/name] is that far removed from honoring a [name]Marie[/name] at all. A lovely, lovely legit smush name. Absolutely Adorable!

[name]Rowan[/name] [name]Marie[/name] is pretty. It’s my hangup that I picture [name]Rowan[/name] Atkinson every time I see or hear [name]Rowan[/name], not yours!

Remielle looks pretty but I can’t find anything that makes me think it’s a real name (as in, one with etymological and historical roots), but it looks very close to the masculine Remiel, who is mentioned in the Book of [name]Enoch[/name] as one of the seven Archangels. So maybe you could consider Remielle as a feminine of that? It’s definitely pretty and you could get [name]Remy[/name] or [name]Elle[/name] from it. I look for options because as a tomboyish [name]Laura[/name], nn [name]Lola[/name], I had none and I hated that. So I try to keep my own discomfort in mind when I make suggestions.

I dislike :
Remilee [name]Claire[/name] (no [name]Marie[/name] though)
Remaline [name]Marie[/name]
Remarie [name]Claire[/name]

Because they look made up and I can’t imagine them ageing very well.

I did find Remei, a Catalan name meaning “remedy” in the BtN database (it’s not in the database here, I checked here first!) but Catalan is nothing like English, so I have no clue on actal pronuncation (which makes me wary of usage) but I would think [name]Rem[/name]-AY, upon seeing it myself. But it is a real, feminine name so maybe you’d want to look into it and consider it?

Like I said, [name]Remy[/name] is our #2 for another boy but I hope I was of some, small help!

Thank you [name]Lola[/name]!

Yes I was considering Remielle the more feminine version of Remiel.

I do love [name]Rosemarie[/name] [name]Claire[/name]… Now I just have to get DH to like it! I won’t work too hard on him until we find out the sex.

The real reason this came up is that I have this little hunch that we’re having twins (we both have frat twins in the family and I thought I felt ovulation pains on both sides this month before we conceived, won’t find out till we go to the Dr though)

So… I was thinking that [name]Everett[/name] nn Rett and [name]Rosemarie[/name] [name]Claire[/name] or Remielle [name]Marie[/name] nn [name]Remi[/name] would be adorable twin names, Rett and [name]Remi[/name]! Could it get any cuter?

[name]Everett[/name]/Rett & [name]Rosemarie[/name]/[name]Remy[/name] (I would definitely try to stay with the y as that’s how most people are going to instinctively spell it and I’d hate to make her say "no, with an I’ forever! are absolutely adorable. And will age very well, indeed. Beautiful!

[name]Hi[/name], i was not very fond of remi when I heard it but when I saw some of the choices you had posted I thought that remi was very cute as a nickname with the name remarie. It is very cute and so original I would definetly choose remarie!

Thanks both of you! For indulging my frivoloty! I would just be thrilled if it was twins, but we will wait and see. I am probably just being nutty but at the very least Rett and [name]Remi[/name] ould be cute sibs even if its not twins

Let’s see…[name]How[/name] to get the nickname [name]Remy[/name]…

I think one great way would be to use a first name beginning with R, and [name]Emilia[/name] or [name]Emmeline[/name] as a middle name. That gives you R plus [name]EMI[/name], and you’ve got [name]Remi[/name]. If you’re open to using two middle names (not two first names, but two middle names), the initials of R.E.M. would work well, too. (And of course, there’s always the initials of RM or RME.)

[name]Rose[/name] [name]Emilia[/name] and [name]Rose[/name] [name]Emilia[/name] [name]Marie[/name]/[name]Rose[/name] [name]Elizabeth[/name] [name]Marie[/name]/[name]Rose[/name] [name]Marie[/name] [name]Elizabeth[/name] come to mind.

Other ideas:

[name]Romilly[/name] [name]Marielle[/name] (instead of [name]Marie[/name], as [name]Marie[/name] is contained in [name]Marielle[/name])
[name]Romilly[/name] [name]Mariel[/name]
[name]Romilly[/name] [name]Mirabel[/name]
[name]Romilly[/name] [name]Marie[/name]

[name]Rosemary[/name] [name]Emilia[/name]
[name]Rosemarie[/name] [name]Emilia[/name]

[name]Rosalie[/name] [name]Mariel[/name]
[name]Rosalie[/name] [name]Marielle[/name]
[name]Rosalie[/name] [name]Maria[/name]
[name]Rosalie[/name] [name]Miriam[/name]
[name]Rosalie[/name] [name]Mariana[/name]

[name]Rose[/name] [name]Marielle[/name]
[name]Rose[/name] [name]Emilia[/name]
[name]Rose[/name] [name]Emilia[/name] [name]Marie[/name]
[name]Rose[/name] [name]Miranda[/name]
[name]Rose[/name] [name]Emmeline[/name] [name]Marie[/name]
[name]Rose[/name] [name]Evangeline[/name] [name]Marie[/name]
[name]Rose[/name] [name]Mariana[/name]
[name]Rose[/name] [name]Elizabeth[/name] [name]Marie[/name]

[name]Ruby[/name] [name]Mirabel[/name] [name]Eve[/name]
[name]Ruby[/name] [name]Emilia[/name] [name]Marie[/name]
[name]Ruby[/name] [name]Mirabelle[/name] [name]Esme[/name]
[name]Ruby[/name] [name]Marielle[/name] [name]Esme[/name]
[name]Ruby[/name] [name]Eleanor[/name] [name]Marie[/name]

[name]Raphaela[/name] [name]Marie[/name]
[name]Raphaela[/name] [name]Miriam[/name]

[name]Rhiannon[/name] [name]Maeve[/name]

[name]Ramona[/name] [name]Mariel[/name]
[name]Ramona[/name] [name]Mabel[/name]
[name]Ramona[/name] [name]Marie[/name]

(Like the others, I much prefer [name]Remy[/name] with a y. I think it has a sophistication and substantial feel not found in [name]Remi[/name] or other nicknames ending in I, such as [name]Becki[/name], [name]Kati[/name], [name]Jenni[/name], [name]Nikki[/name], [name]Vicki[/name], [name]Jessi[/name], etc.)

Thanks [name]Jill[/name]!

I have always thought of [name]Remy[/name] as a boy and [name]Remi[/name] as a girl… But I know that is weird from the lady who might name her daughter [name]Elliott[/name]! Ha!

[name]Remy[/name] is growing on me. Of your suggestions I like [name]Romilly[/name] [name]Marielle[/name] ([name]Marielle[/name] is a GREAT alternative to [name]Marie[/name]!!!)… And another I thought of based on your suggestions is [name]Rosalyn[/name] [name]Marie[/name] (Rahz-a-lynn) or [name]Rosalyn[/name] [name]Marielle[/name].

I have some great options here!

Curious [name]Jill[/name], what do you think of Remielle?

Thanks [name]Jill[/name]!

Curious [name]Jill[/name], what do you think of Remielle?

[name]Hi[/name] [name]Erin[/name]. Remielle. Well, I like the elle ending, and it begins with [name]Remi[/name], but at first glance it looks “made up,” you know? I definitely like it better than the other names I’ve never seen before on your [name]Remi[/name] list, and I think it does sound nice with [name]Everett[/name].

It would surely give you a great source of [name]Remi[/name] without relying on initials! I do like its romantic sound, which kind of reminds me of a feminine [name]Romeo[/name], and I really love its femininity and elegance. It’s definitely more “thumbs up” than “thumbs down” for me, and I appreciate its originality without sounding trendy.

If other male names can have feminine forms, why not Remiel? Remielle/Remiella is the logical choice, and for all I know, it’s been used for ages. (And even if it hasn’t, you love it, which is what matters.) It kind of reminds me of a name I love, Roselaine, that’s rarely used, heard, or known, but is “real” nonetheless.

We’re not talking Addysynne, Mikayluh, Kaitlynne, [name]Kyleigh[/name], etc., here! Remielle is definitely on an entirely different level, and it’s really growing on me.

(In case you can’t tell, I’m thinking as I type.) This is your baby, and you totally need to choose the name you love, but my two cents is that I’m liking it, too. Actually, I’m starting to love it for your little one.

Would you use Remielle [name]Marie[/name]?

Yes I think so, I certainly cannot use Remielle [name]Marielle[/name]! Ha!

Okay so now I just need to find out if this first one is a boy or girl!

Thanks again… I am having fun with this!

I think Remielle and [name]Everett[/name] would make a great sibling set. Thanks for sharing your names with us!

I think Remielle is actually kind of pretty. Remielle [name]Marie[/name] would be really pretty.
I think if your husband likes it, then definitely go for it
But still, I think [name]Remi[/name] [name]Marie[/name] is perfect on it’s own.

[name]Hi[/name] again [name]Erin[/name]!

I wanted to let you know that I mentioned Remielle to some friends, and they both had the same reaction. They were confused at first, as they’d never heard the name, but it quickly grew on them, and they thought it was quite pretty and feminine.

Thanks [name]Jill[/name]!

I appreciate your help!

Remielle is cute, but I would say [name_u]Remi[/name_u] [name_f]Marie[/name_f] stands in its own perfectly.

I love all your names my name is claire marie. I like rosemarie claire the most.
