Hello! I have a two-year-old son named [name_m]Bodhi[/name_m] and I absolutely love his name. Not only does it sound a little southern (I’m an Arkansas native), but the meaning is PERFECTION to me. I’m training to be a yoga instructor (among other things), I have a passion for Eastern medicine, I practice Shinrin-yoku, and we try to live as much of a Buddhist lifestyle as we can. [name_m]Bodhi[/name_m] was just… it, you know?
Now that we’re discussing having another kiddo, I’m struggling. Quite a bit, to be honest. My boyfriend is no help as he’s one of those “I’m okay with anything as long as you love it” type of guys.
[name_m]How[/name_m] am I supposed to find something that’s just as wonderful as [name_m]Bodhi[/name_m]? Then it hit me, why not ask the name GURUS at Nameberry?!
So here we go!
My son is [name_m]Bodhi[/name_m] [name_u]Jameson[/name_u] [name_u]Lee[/name_u]. [name_m]Bodhi[/name_m] is already explained, [name_u]Jameson[/name_u] has a silly meaning for his father and I (which isn’t necessarily important), and [name_u]Lee[/name_u] is a family name. I would prefer not to use another B name in the first name spot. Any future little ones would have two middle names as well. A girl would have [name_f]Goldie[/name_f] as a middle name, possibly as a double-barrel middle name simply because I like the look/sound of them. A boy would have the name “[name_m]Homer[/name_m]” as either the first or second middle name.
Can you guys help me come up with names that are… similar to [name_m]Bodhi[/name_m] in meaning/feel? I absolutely love hippie-esque names and would prefer Sanskrit names that are VERY easily pronounced in America.

Also, I’ve been considering Veda (Sanskrit for “knowledge” / the Vedas are the most ancient and important of all sacred Hindu literature) for a girl and Kiran (Sanskrit for “ray of light” and pronounced the same as the Irish “Kieran”) for another boy. What do you guys think about those?

[name_m]Axel[/name_m]/[name_m]Aksel[/name_m] is one that I consider constanly, [name_m]Bodhi[/name_m] would’ve been [name_f]Clementine[/name_f] had he been a girl, I adore [name_f]Gaia[/name_f] (but I’m unsure of it with [name_f]Goldie[/name_f] as a middle name…), all forms of [name_f]Olive[/name_f] ([name_f]Olivia[/name_f], [name_m]Oliver[/name_m], etc.) are on my list, [name_u]Phoenix[/name_u] is one of my FAVORITES, [name_u]Shiloh[/name_u] is one I adore (but the baby’s last name would begin with an S as well, would that be too much?), and [name_m]Wilder[/name_m] has always been a love of mine. [name_u]Rowan[/name_u] for either gender I think would be great - seems sweet and Southen, almost surnamey like [name_m]Bodhi[/name_m], but with a really peaceful nature vibe. [name_m]Add[/name_m] in the mystical significance of [name_u]Rowan[/name_u] trees and it seems really perfect
[name_u]Sage[/name_u] has a similar vibe, and I think would be so handsome for a boy
I only know two little (Australian) Bodhis -their siblings are (1) Jarrah (m); (2) [name_f]Acacia[/name_f] & [name_f]Mahalia[/name_f] (both f).
The only other contribution I have that hasn’t been mentioned is [name_f]Tara[/name_f], which leans southern-American to me because of Gone with the Wind, and Buddhist because of the Bodhisattva.
