The worst and best names from your previous lists?

When I was eight years old, I swore I’d name my kids [name_f]Melanie[/name_f] or [name_f]Sylvia[/name_f]…
… but just a few months ago I had such “gems” on my list as [name_f]Rainbow[/name_f] and Bitsy. I’m glad I got rid of those!
What names from your old lists are still viable? And which make you think, “I liked THAT???”?

When I was a kid, I adored the name [name_f]Nancy[/name_f]. I have absolutely no idea why, but I’m so glad I got over that!
[name_f]My[/name_f] names have pretty much stayed the same, except for me scrapping [name_f]Esther[/name_f] my list a few years ago. I used to [name_u]LOVE[/name_u] it, but now find it just meh.

I didn’t exactly make a list when I was younger, but I did have different favourites. I used to love [name_f]Imogen[/name_f] [name_f]Elspeth[/name_f], and [name_f]Aurora[/name_f] [name_f]Breanne[/name_f] (they were my faves) and then I found my love for [name_f]Pandora[/name_f]. All of those names are still on my list, and [name_f]Pandora[/name_f] is still my absolute favourite. [name_u]Phoenix[/name_u] [name_u]Storm[/name_u] used to be my fave (and only) boy combo, and I still love [name_u]Phoenix[/name_u], but with different middles, and [name_u]Storm[/name_u] is on my list.

The only name not on my list that, I toyed with before, is [name_u]Hunter[/name_u]; I even considered [name_u]Phoenix[/name_u] [name_u]Hunter[/name_u]/[name_u]Hunter[/name_u] [name_u]Phoenix[/name_u]! [name_m]Even[/name_m] then it was a bit of a GP, and now I definitely feel it’s not something after which I’d want a future child to be named. Plus one of my friends is absolutely anti-hunting (as am I to an extent) so it probably wouldn’t go down well.

a few weeks ago I went through and old list from when I was about 8 and found three names I absolutely adore which were [name_f]Lauren[/name_f], [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] and [name_m]Matthew[/name_m]. But there was one when I looked at it I outwardly cringed at and would would feel sorry for anyone named that. That name was [name_f]Nevaeh[/name_f]… Sooooooooo glad I got rid of it.

[name_f]My[/name_f] top names used to be [name_u]Piper[/name_u], [name_f]Birdie[/name_f], [name_m]Abel[/name_m], [name_m]Asher[/name_m], and [name_u]Bo[/name_u], but none of those are on my list now. Over time, I just found something wrong with each of them and grew to not like them anymore.

I used to love [name_f]Nevaeh[/name_f], [name_f]Emersyn[/name_f], [name_f]Carsyn[/name_f], and Hudsyn for girls according to my name book from ten years ago. For boys I liked Osten and [name_u]Cameron[/name_u]. They all make me shudder, now.

When I was in elementary school, my favourite names were including: [name_f]Veronica[/name_f], [name_f]Vanessa[/name_f], [name_f]Virginia[/name_f], [name_f]Isabella[/name_f] (my favourite barbie), [name_f]Jessica[/name_f], and [name_f]Angela[/name_f]. Some of them stay on my current list.
The worst part… Idk, probably some creative spelling like [name_f]Jazmyn[/name_f]. It was never on my list, but I’ve to admid I liked it.

When I was about 12, and really getting in to names, my favourites were Cobrin (boy, not [name_u]Corbin[/name_u]), Bremyn-[name_f]Rose[/name_f], and [name_f]Shasta[/name_f] (g). Ummmm…
The sad part is, they’re very trendy-sounding, but I still have a soft spot for them  I wouldn’t want to use them now though.

I did like Kaschia [name_u]Blue[/name_u] for a bit a couple years later, and that one does not hold any interest to me at all anymore.

On the whole, my boy list has been pretty stable through the years. I did end up with crazy things like [name_f]Scotia[/name_f] Gynn on my list for girls in my teens, too. Ugh. Gynn, pronouncing like… I was clearly very underage at that point.

I think the first time I ever heard a name and thought it was just beautiful was [name_f]Ailsa[/name_f] when I was about 6. I still think it’s lovely but it’s far too close to [name_f]Elsa[/name_f] which I can’t stand right now.

I remember making the first list though, and [name_f]Jenna[/name_f] was top of it. I’m not a fan, but do like [name_f]Jessa[/name_f] and [name_f]Jemima[/name_f].

The worst has to be [name_f]Gypsy[/name_f], entirely for the cultural appropriation and it’s history as a derogatory term (nowadays, in the UK at least, the Irish-[name_u]Traveller[/name_u] community use it frequently to label their own culture and don’t take offense at others using it, but I know in other parts of the world it’s different, and the way it relates to [name_u]Romany[/name_u] communities is a whole other thing). It was on my list when I was 11-ish, and I just thought it was different and whimsical and cute.

Oh, and [name_u]Paddy[/name_u]. I don’t know why I thought that was sweet for a little boy. [name_m]Joel[/name_m] was a favourite for a while too… eh.

Others that I remember from my lists aged 11-ish and still really love… [name_f]Annabella[/name_f], [name_f]Tallulah[/name_f], [name_f]Daisy[/name_f], [name_f]Flora[/name_f], [name_f]Margo[/name_f], [name_f]Immy[/name_f], [name_u]Dexter[/name_u], [name_m]William[/name_m], [name_m]Archie[/name_m], [name_m]Alec[/name_m] (still top of my list).

When I was younger I loved the names [name_u]Madison[/name_u] and [name_u]Riley[/name_u] and [name_u]Owen[/name_u]. I still really like [name_u]Owen[/name_u] but it is too popular and doesn’t really work for my Greek family. But [name_u]Madison[/name_u] and [name_u]Riley[/name_u] are way to trendy what was I thinking?

I used to like Murdoch for a boy

some I used to like and still do:

[name_f]Freya[/name_f], [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f], [name_f]Lauren[/name_f], [name_f]Emma[/name_f], [name_f]Emily[/name_f], [name_f]Leah[/name_f], [name_f]Sophie[/name_f], [name_f]Georgia[/name_f], [name_f]Louisa[/name_f], [name_f]Lily[/name_f], [name_f]Adelaide[/name_f], [name_f]Agatha[/name_f], [name_f]Beatrice[/name_f], [name_f]Florence[/name_f], [name_f]Harriet[/name_f], [name_f]Elsie[/name_f], [name_f]Nancy[/name_f], [name_f]Catherine[/name_f], [name_f]Alethea[/name_f], [name_f]Madeleine[/name_f], [name_u]Evelyn[/name_u], [name_f]Evie[/name_f], [name_f]Millie[/name_f], [name_f]Maisie[/name_f], [name_f]Daisy[/name_f], [name_f]Poppy[/name_f], [name_f]Gracie[/name_f], [name_f]Lucy[/name_f], [name_f]Rosie[/name_f], [name_f]Scarlett[/name_f], [name_f]Stephanie[/name_f], [name_f]Kirsty[/name_f], [name_f]Cecily[/name_f], [name_f]Cecilia[/name_f], [name_f]Martha[/name_f], [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f], [name_f]Rhiannon[/name_f], [name_f]Jasmine[/name_f] & [name_f]Violet[/name_f]

[name_m]Mark[/name_m], [name_m]Simon[/name_m], [name_m]Henry[/name_m], [name_m]Harry[/name_m], [name_m]Louis[/name_m], [name_m]Gregory[/name_m], [name_m]Nathan[/name_m], [name_m]Lucas[/name_m], [name_m]Luke[/name_m], [name_m]Joseph[/name_m], [name_m]Matthew[/name_m], [name_m]Daniel[/name_m], [name_m]Thomas[/name_m], [name_u]Logan[/name_u], [name_m]Jake[/name_m] & [name_m]Joshua[/name_m]

I now detest these; [name_f]Kaylea[/name_f]/Kaeleigh, [name_f]Summer[/name_f], Kalleigh, [name_f]Melody[/name_f], [name_f]Tia[/name_f], [name_u]Kelsey[/name_u], [name_u]Kennedy[/name_u], [name_u]Kendall[/name_u], [name_u]Aspen[/name_u], [name_f]Jasmyn[/name_f], [name_f]Kaitlyn[/name_f]/[name_f]Caitlin[/name_f].
