Thoughts on [name_f]Thea[/name_f]? I love it, but sometimes it feels too short, almost like a nn. Or maybe it’s just that I can’t tie it to anything like a family tradition or favourite book (also, I’m not Greek). [name_f]Do[/name_f] you guys feel the same? Also, does anyone know of any books with characters called [name_f]Thea[/name_f]?
I love it! I think it’s fine to use as a first because its strong and rare. I can definitely imagine a little girl or a grown woman being named [name_f]Thea[/name_f]!
My brother and [name_m]SIL[/name_m] chose this for my niece! It was an unexpected choice but it suits her very well and I can’t imagine her being anything else. It doesn’t feel short or nicknamey when you use it in real life, though I myself think it looks that way when you write it out.
Honestly, I think you could choose it even if you don’t have some sort of sentimental tie to it. You love it and that’s enough. I’m not sure of any books with a [name_f]Thea[/name_f] but my [name_m]SIL[/name_m] told me there is a show with one ([name_m]Arrow[/name_m], I think?? I can’t remember…this was over a year ago!). They just loved the name. We do have Greek in us on our dad’s side but I don’t feel that makes it any more legitimate for them to use it over anyone else.
I think [name_f]Thea[/name_f] is gorgeous on it’s own. I don’t know any books but there is a [name_f]Molly[/name_f] Ringwald movie called For Keeps where she has a daughter named [name_f]Theodosia[/name_f] and they call her [name_f]Thea[/name_f] as a nickname.
I really like [name_f]Thea[/name_f]. I don’t think it’s too short or a too much like a nickname. I can’t think of any characters with the name, but it’s so strong and beautiful that it doesn’t really need to personal ties to anything be used. Plus, even if you’re not Greek, I think it’s still pretty cool to have a name related to one of a Greek goddess/titaness.
I really love [name_f]Theodora[/name_f] which you could shorten to either [name_f]Thea[/name_f] or [name_u]Theo[/name_u].
Thank you, guys! You’ve made me feel loads better. I really love the name, and I think I’ve been overthinking it!
[name_f]Anthea[/name_f] is a name I like if you would prefer a slightly longer name.
I love [name_f]Thea[/name_f]! It’s on my list. I went to school with a [name_f]Thea[/name_f] and it didn’t seem nicknamey in real life.
The only hangup I have with it is that [name_m]Theodore[/name_m] is soo popular now so she might have a lot of little Theos as friends!
[name_f]Thea[/name_f] is lovely and feels complete as a name to me. I like it because it’s spunky and sweet, and to me, I tend to prefer nickname-less names up front.
I love [name_f]Thea[/name_f]. Short names are underrated.
