Theodora

What do you think of [name]Theodora[/name]? [name]Dorothea[/name]?

Are there any other names out there that mean Gift of God besides these two and Thea?

Thanks.

ETA: It would be the middle name for [name]Esme[/name].

I like [name]Theodora[/name]- especially with [name]Theo[/name] as a nickname. I’m not so fond of [name]Dorothea[/name] because it reminds me of [name]Dorothy[/name], which I am not a fan of. [name]Elizabeth[/name], [name]Eliza[/name], [name]Isabella[/name], and [name]Isabelle[/name]/[name]Isabel[/name] also mean gift of God, I am fairly certain.

I think [name]Esme[/name] [name]Theodora[/name] is a beautiful name!! I dig the name [name]Theodora[/name] ([name]Keith[/name] [name]Richards[/name] of the Rolling Stones has a daughter named [name]Theodora[/name] as well). Am really not a fan of [name]Dorothea[/name], though. Personally, I think [name]Esme[/name] [name]Theodora[/name] is divine!!!

@Dancerventure - [name]Esme[/name] [name]Theodora[/name] does have that certain ring to it doesn’t it. And it flows better than [name]Esme[/name] [name]Dorothea[/name].

I have always had a name crush on [name]Theodora[/name] because of Emperor [name]Justinian[/name]'s wife [name]Theodora[/name] who was a huge historical personality. [name]Esme[/name] [name]Theodora[/name] is absolutely gorgeous! I wouldn’t use [name]Theodora[/name] as a first name but as a middle it is perfect especially with your combination!

@ Jackiet - I have to agree. [name]Theodora[/name] in this day and age is asking for trouble but as a middle it’s perfect. It has it’s own personality and spunk.

Thank you all so much for the help. It’s a good thing we aren’t pregnant yet because now I need to narrow our list of 6 combos down.

I’m a big fan of [name]Theodora[/name]!

Also like [name]Theodora[/name] - it’s an awesome vintage name

I love [name]Theodora[/name]! I don’t see how it would be a problem for a first name at all. I think it’s very elegant yet modern. I love [name]Thea[/name] as a nn. I like it infinitely better than [name]Dorothea[/name].

I love it! It’s on my long list. I know you said it would be a middle name but I also like it with the nicknames [name]Teddy[/name] or [name]Thea[/name].

I think [name]Theodora[/name] is gorgeous. I have a co-worker with that name and I’m envious! She does not use a nn either. I really like it as a first name or middle name. It’s so vintage beautiful.

I would love to use it as a first but my husband would never go for it and with it this way it will mean Loved Gift of God. Also, I’m having a hard enough time convincing him to use [name]Esme[/name].

Our list right now is as follows
[name]Adeline[/name] [name]Matilda[/name]
[name]Annora[/name] [name]Vivienne[/name]
[name]Bernadette[/name] [name]Abigail[/name]
[name]Cecilia[/name] [name]Faith[/name]
[name]Esme[/name] [name]Theodora[/name]
[name]Evangeline[/name] [name]Anthea[/name]
[name]Johanna[/name] [name]Roselle[/name]
[name]Seraphina[/name] [name]Ariel[/name]

He’s really only a fan of [name]Adeline[/name] and [name]Cecilia[/name]. He likes more modern sounding names than the classic vintage ones.

[name]Theodora[/name] is my [name]FAVORITE[/name] name! Definitely plan on using it for one of my future daughters.

A girl I know from school is named [name]Theodora[/name], and she has never gotten made fun of for her name. (Her last name goes great with it - it could be turned into a pun though, haha.) She was named for one of the early [name]Christian[/name] saints named [name]Theodora[/name]… not sure which one, though.

I love [name]Theodora[/name]! It’s so pretty and classy, I just adore it! I know a girl who’s around my age who’s named [name]Theodora[/name], but she hates it. She prefers to go by [name]Teddy[/name]. [name]Esme[/name] [name]Theodora[/name] is lovely, and it has a good, full meaning. Jadour!
