Theresa

I would love some honest opinions of the name [name_f]Theresa[/name_f] for a little girl…

Not fond of [name_u]Terry[/name_u], [name_f]Tess[/name_f], or [name_f]Tessa[/name_f] for nicknames, but would love the nickname [name_u]Reese[/name_u].

Is it too dated? too much?

Thanks in advance

I love the [name_m]French[/name_m] version: [name_f]Terese[/name_f]. (Pronounced Ta [name_f]REZ[/name_f])

or [name_f]Teresa[/name_f] with out the H. [name_u]Reese[/name_u] would be a cute nickname, though!

I really like the name [name_f]Theresa[/name_f], and [name_u]Reese[/name_u] is a great nickname. I like [name_f]Teresa[/name_f], but I like [name_f]Theresa[/name_f] better.

I adore [name_f]Theresa[/name_f], [name_f]Teresa[/name_f], [name_f]Therese[/name_f] so very much! I love [name_f]Tess[/name_f] or [name_f]Tessa[/name_f], [name_u]Reese[/name_u] isn’t really my style, but I like the way that it modernizes [name_f]Theresa[/name_f]. I know many Theresas of all ages, but most are my mom’s age (50s) and [name_u]Terry[/name_u] seems the most common nickname for that age group. [name_f]Tess[/name_f] feels like the kind of vintage that’s just right for 2014, [name_f]Tessa[/name_f] too. I think [name_u]Reese[/name_u] is a great way to update classic [name_f]Theresa[/name_f] too. The only thing I would be wary of is using a name that I strongly dislike a intuitive nn for. If she one day opts to be called [name_f]Tess[/name_f] or [name_u]Terry[/name_u] will it bother you a lot?

In the United States, the name [name_f]Theresa[/name_f] was most popular in 1956, so it is dated to that era.

That said, I like the idea of using the nickname [name_u]Reese[/name_u]. Never thought of that before.

I like the name. It’s been quite popular in the last 20 years in [name_f]Austria[/name_f] so I know quite a lot [name_f]Theresa[/name_f]'s. Most of them go by the (ugly) nn [name_f]Resi[/name_f] pronounced “Raysee”.

It doesn’t feel too dated to me. I like it, and [name_u]Reese[/name_u] is a great nn.

I never care about dated issue, so… I won’t associate [name_f]Theresa[/name_f] with any decade. I’ll think she has a pretty, unusual name with a great namesake. I think [name_f]Theresa[/name_f] is lovely and the nickname [name_u]Reese[/name_u] could definitely work.

Thanks for all your replies!

[name_f]Theresa[/name_f] nn [name_u]Reese[/name_u] will definitely be staying near the top of my list.

Can anyone offer up some middle name suggestions that would flow well with [name_f]Theresa[/name_f]?

I was thinking something like
[name_f]Theresa[/name_f] [name_f]Juliet[/name_f]
[name_f]Theresa[/name_f] [name_f]Molly[/name_f]
Or
[name_f]Theresa[/name_f] [name_u]Blaire[/name_u]

As someone with a variation of the name [name_f]Teresa[/name_f], for the love of god dont give her a nickname. My friends briefly tried “Tez” it didn’t take.
Shes already going to have to deal with people calling her terayza or terese and every other mispronounciation there is. Its a pretty name why give her an ugly nickname like [name_u]Terry[/name_u].

If someone called me reese or tess when i was a little girl i would probably look extremely confused and disgusted or not realise they where talking to me.

Middle name suggestions:

[name_f]Theresa[/name_f] [name_f]Catherine[/name_f]
[name_f]Theresa[/name_f] [name_f]Anneliese[/name_f]
[name_f]Theresa[/name_f] [name_f]Anne[/name_f]
[name_f]Theresa[/name_f] [name_f]Chloe[/name_f]

[name_f]Theresa[/name_f] is a lovely name.

I knew someone growing up named [name_u]Risa[/name_u] (ree-sah). No idea if it was short for something.

But I don’t really think it needs a nickname. But I prefer most full names… not every name needs a nickname.

[name_m]Even[/name_m] though this is an old thread, I smiled to see the title. [name_f]Theresa[/name_f] such a beautiful name and if my son born in 2011 had been a girl we’d have used [name_f]Theresa[/name_f] for sure. We’ve had 2 more boys since then so no chances to use it. I’m expecting again and [name_f]Theresa[/name_f] is struggling to stay on my list as I do worry about it being dated though my husband would call her [name_f]Tess[/name_f] as a nickname. I like [name_f]Tess[/name_f] too but find [name_f]Theresa[/name_f] so pretty that I’d use it mostly. Our combo would likely be [name_f]Theresa[/name_f] [name_f]Zelie[/name_f].
