One of the middle names we are considering is Thérèse or [name_f]Therese[/name_f]. We are in the US, we would be naming her specifically after the patron saint of flowers Thérèse. [name_m]How[/name_m] important would the spelling /pronunciation be? Should we go with the easy to say English [name_f]Therese[/name_f] version or Thérèse (tay-Rhez) and just correct people? First name [name_f]Sylvie[/name_f].
Yes go with the one that represents the version you prefer - as previous poster data, it’s a middle name, which is for you and the naked person more than anyone else!
I wanted to say only go with Thérèse if you’re 1) living in a french-speaking community 2) have french heritage or 3) at least speak the language, but then I see that you want it as a middle name and in that case: yes, definitely go with Thérèse. Pronunciation would not be a huge problem as you don’t use middle everytime anyway.
Thanks everyone! I actually do have [name_m]French[/name_m] heritage (my great grandmother was french) but I do not speak it. Not that it matters since it’s in the middle spot
