I’ve been loving the name Hugo for some time now. My husband used to like it, then he had a phase where he didn’t care for it. But recently, he started to like it again!
I really like the other names on our short list (Leo, Mathias, and Arthur), but Hugo might be my favorite at the moment. I like the -o ending like Leo, the classic/ vintage vibe like Arthur. The meaning is great too (mind, intellect). Plus, it’s not as common as the other names on our list where we live. Like our son Bastien, Hugo isn’t unusual, but not popular either. I feel like it’s the perfect fit with our first born.
What kind of vibe do you get from Hugo? What kind of little boy and grown man do you imagine with that name? Do you think Bastien and Hugo works for brothers?
Personally, Hugo feels like a summer boy for me. Joyful, curious, creative, but also clever and strong willed.
I love [name_m]Hugo[/name_m]! [name_m]Hugo[/name_m] seems like a smart, cautious kid with a love of books and adventures. More of an autumn/winter name to me, but that just may be personal. Such a great choice. [name_m]Bastien[/name_m] and [name_m]Hugo[/name_m] are perfect brothers: great sound pairing, style pairing, and they give off a complimentary feel.
[name_m]Even[/name_m] without knowing the meaning of [name_m]Hugo[/name_m] it gave me the image of “intellect.” It reminds me of an old-timey explorer and scientist. Someone smart who loves to read but also loves to get out there and learn things by discovering the world. Like [name_u]Milo[/name_u] from [name_u]Atlantis[/name_u] type of vibes.
Hugo is perfect with Bastien! They have a similar feel and sound lovely together.
Hugo has an almost serious, cerebral vibe to me, perhaps because of its meaning. It feels very sophisticated and yet very wearable for a child, adolescent and adult. It’s hard for me to say exactly what I imagine a child named Hugo to be like as I’ve taught quite a few and really, I feel it’s a very versatile name and could fit all sorts of people/personalities.
In saying that, it feels more like an autumn or even a winter name to me, but that’s a subjective thing I guess. It’s a brilliant name. I say go for it!
[name_m]Hugo[/name_m] is lovely! It is cute on a child, intelligent on an adult, and all around very cheerful sounding. And I think it goes perfectly with [name_m]Bastien[/name_m]!

I’m a massive fan of [name_m]Hugo[/name_m] he’s so handsome, strong, fun, distinguished, peaceful, well polished and has a timeless European classic vibe. I can imagine some smart, open minded and kind with a name like [name_m]Hugo[/name_m] he’s just so friendly sounding.
