Considering going for #4 in the next few months… this would definitely be our last child (if we are so blessed).
We have 3 boys and assume we’d likely have another. Being a name enthusiast - I need to have a few names ready in my mind.
We do family/honor middle names and I think the middle would be [name_m]Patrick[/name_m].
My other 3 children’s names are:
[name_m]Grant[/name_m]
[name_u]Reid[/name_u]
[name_m]Cole[/name_m]
I obviously prefer short names. One syllable is preferable (do you think required?) and I like mainstream but not overly popular. Any suggestions for what you think would fit well?
I don’t think you have to go for one syllable again if that’s too limiting, but I would probably say 2 is a maximum. There are lots of short, 2-syllable names like [name_u]Jonah[/name_u], [name_m]Harris[/name_m], or [name_u]Evan[/name_u] that would fit in well.
Thanks @floatinthesky
I forgot about [name_u]Dane[/name_u] and [name_u]Drew[/name_u]… I had both in running for other kids… I do love them!
[name_m]Wells[/name_m] is also super nice!
I am a HUGE FAN of 1 syllable names. [name_m]Grant[/name_m] and [name_m]Cole[/name_m] were on our shortlists for a boy, for sure!
While I would shoot for a 1 syllable name, I don’t think it’s necessary. It’s your kid! You name him whatever you want That said, if you went for a 2 syllable name, I would go for one that’s visually short like all of his brother’s names, as well as light pronunciation-wise (ie NOT like Frederick or Vincent or William).
In case our naming styles are similar, here are other names that were on our shortlist:
[name_m]Grant[/name_m], [name_u]Reid[/name_u], [name_m]Cole[/name_m], and …
One Syllable:
Thanks so much @LynnG
I totally agree with what you’re saying about length of 2 syllable names!
I love [name_m]Jack[/name_m] but it rhymes with the 2nd syllable of our last name so sadly that’s out! I’ve never considered [name_u]Glen[/name_u] but I do like it!!! [name_m]Will[/name_m] think about that one… and I’ve always loved [name_u]Owen[/name_u]!
Yeah, I really like [name_u]Glen[/name_u] for that … 1930s? 1940s? era vibe. [name_u]Glen[/name_u], [name_m]Grant[/name_m], [name_m]Jack[/name_m], [name_m]Calvin[/name_m], [name_m]Clark[/name_m], etc
