I have 2 boys, [name]Nash[/name] [name]Paul[/name] and [name]Holt[/name] [name]Conor[/name], and a 3rd due in [name]June[/name], thinking of “Cutter [name]Cristian[/name]” maybe… I just heard the name on One live to Live, new character. =) Any thoughts?
It’s nmsaa, but it also has some associations attached that I would consider to be problematic. So far as I know, a “cutter” in common parlance is someone who practises self-harm (and/or body modification).
I agree with the pp, there are too many negative connotations with the word.
I have the same thoughts as the posters above. Cutter to me conjures up self harming images.
I really don’t like and would not use it at all. Some names used in media are meant to only be for characters. Also, Cutter doesn’t really go along with [name]Holt[/name] and [name]Nash[/name] so well.

I can understand the connotations the other posters are talking about…but “Cutter” mostly reminds me of the main character in the ElfQuest comics, if you’ve ever read those.

What about [name]Carter[/name]? Or [name]Colton[/name]? Or [name]Colby[/name]? I like the assonance of the two-C names–Cutter [name]Christian[/name]–but if so many people have a negative reaction to it (I could go either way; the thought of self-harm or anything similar never really came to mind when I first read it), I would steer-clear.
Your two existing children have great names. They remind me of heroes in cowboy romance novels! Also, try [name]Jace[/name], [name]Roarke[/name], [name]Brody[/name], [name]Chance[/name], [name]Lance[/name], [name]Jack[/name], [name]Roan[/name].

Cutter… Absolutely not!!! [name]Cutler[/name]… maybe…
I have a friend whose last name is [name]Cutler[/name] and he goes by Cutt. It’s a pretty awesome nickname. But, Cutter only stirs up images of razored forearms as these days someone who inflicts self harm is referred to as a “cutter”.
Definitely do NOT go with Cutter!
I would consider [name]Cutler[/name] nn Cut or [name]Curtis[/name] nn [name]Curt[/name] as an alternative name.
[name]Cutler[/name] or [name]Cuyler[/name] would be much better choices than Cutter.
Its already been said…but a cutter is someone who is severly depressed and cuts themselves as a way to deal with the pain. It is not a name to bestow on a baby boy. [name]Cutler[/name] is a better suggestion. Or maybe [name]Thatcher[/name], [name]Dexter[/name] or [name]Cooper[/name].
Eeek I work in mental health and Cutter has terrible connotations! I’m not sure it would be fair to give a child that name tbh. I like the idea of [name]Cutler[/name] and also [name]Carter[/name], although I noticed you have a son called [name]Holt[/name] and where I’m from we have a forest products company called [name]Carter[/name] [name]Holt[/name] [name]Harvey[/name]! If you don’t have that where ever in the world you are, then I think [name]Carter[/name] sounds nice

I would really, really implore you not to use the name Cutter. This word (only a word to me and not a name) can only imply self mutilation which would be a terrible stigma to burden your child with, and I’m sure the name would negatively impact him.
What I did like was your idea of alliteration, just not with Cutter [name]Christian[/name]. I really love the letter C. What about some solidly masculine names like [name]Calvin[/name] or [name]Caleb[/name]?
Please tell us you are convinced by now that this is not a good idea? Because it’s really not. Have you considered [name]Skipper[/name] nn [name]Skip[/name] or [name]Spencer[/name] nn [name]Spence[/name]? Others have offered great suggestions. Good luck finding something more suitable and less depressing than Cutter!
I don’t know, absolutely nothing is making me say “I love that” Like with my other 2 boys… I do love short, strong names, that are somewhat unused but not made up, more like used a lot with the english or Irish in the eighteen hundreds. Or surnames as 1st. I love Cutter, just think it sounds very cute, but strong, but I do want want those thoughts associated with my child, to me it just seemed like an updated [name]Tucker[/name] or something. I just look at the sound of the name and do not associate it I guess. I liked [name]Ford[/name] as well but Husband says no way. =( I am at a loss. My second son was nameless for a day after he was born and that made me feel stressed when I just wanted to enjoy him. I want a name well ahead of time for this one…
