Third baby name - does it have to be one syllable like the others?

Trying to come up with name choices for a third child (not finding out gender). Our first two kids have one syllable names and I thought I’d stick with that but not loving any as much as we love the first two. So far we only like [name_u]Quinn[/name_u] for either girl or boy but worried it’s too trendy. Would it be worth branching out to multi syllable names?

I think it’s totally okay to branch out with the syllables! I’d probably try and still stick to a shorter name (like [name_u]Ellis[/name_u] or [name_u]Remy[/name_u]), but if you just can’t find one you love then it’s okay to go further. They won’t be introduced with each other their whole life, and I doubt anyone will really notice a syllable change if it’s on the subtle side.

Quinn is pretty trendy, but I think it’s a name that’ll age well.

^^Seconding this! I like [name_u]Quinn[/name_u], but if you’re not feeling sure about it, it definitely seems worth branching into multi-syllabic territory!

How about a longer name that could be shortened to a nickname for everyday use?
I’m thinking of something like [name_u]Emerson[/name_u], called [name_f]Em[/name_f].

I would say that you definitely don’t need to stick to the trend.

Definitely don’t go with the trend if you’re not loving on a name. I feel like they say three is what makes a pattern so don’t make the pattern unless you love the name!

I think [name_u]Quinn[/name_u] is nice, but if there’s a longer name you like more I think go with that! You might even end up shortening it to a one syllable nickname in the future.

Good luck!

I agree with @vim
