[name]Hi[/name]! I am due to give birth to our third child in 6 weeks, but we still haven’t settled on a name. My cousin suggested I try this site, so I jumped on to ask for your suggestions and opinions! We do not know the gender of the baby yet, so we need to decide on both.
Big sister is [name]Evangeline[/name] [name]Winter[/name] (nn “[name]Evie[/name]”) and big brother is [name]Reuben[/name] [name]Lake[/name]. Our surname begins with a D and ends in ly. I would like to avoid names beginning with D, even though one of my favorite choices is [name]Dexter[/name]! [name]Reuben[/name] would have been named [name]Harper[/name], had he been a girl, but now with the [name]Beckham[/name] baby being [name]Harper[/name] and the sudden rise we are not so hot on it anymore.
If possible I would like to follow the trend of a nature-y middle name. We’ve no family names we wish to recycle. So far for a girl, I really love [name]Genevieve[/name]. But it also has the nn evie, so would this get confusing for strangers assuming she was [name]Evie[/name]? I can’t think of any other nn’s for it and i really dislike “[name]Gen[/name]”.
Names that have been thrown around. We seem to be sticking with quite vintage-y sounding girls names to pair with [name]Evangeline[/name] but i’d love some more modern/unusual suggestions that might go with [name]Evie[/name] and [name]Reuben[/name]'s names?
Boys:
[name]Isaiah[/name] - DH loves this but I think it quite boring
[name]Felix[/name]
[name]Theodore[/name] - My fave
[name]Indiana[/name] - is this useable?
[name]Asa[/name] - too short?
[name]Beckett[/name]
Girls:
[name]Ariel[/name]/[name]Ariella[/name]
[name]Isabelle[/name]/[name]Isadora[/name] - Too common?
[name]Coraline[/name]/[name]Coralie[/name]/[name]Coral[/name] - I don’t know what I prefer, the nn [name]Cora[/name] or [name]Coral[/name]
[name]Valentina[/name] - not sure on this, DH suggested it last night
Have you thought about [name]Guinevere[/name]? It’s a form of [name]Genevieve[/name] as they are all related and connected to [name]Jennifer[/name], Gwendeolyn, etc. You could do [name]Gwen[/name] as a nickname. I see that you have [name]Isabella[/name] or [name]Isadora[/name] [name]Ariel[/name]/[name]Ariella[/name] for girls and [name]Asa[/name] on the listfor boys. What about [name]Arabella[/name]? [name]Ara[/name] for short? Or Allister for a boy? [name]Love[/name] love love [name]Theodore[/name]. Very cute.
I love [name]Valentina[/name] and I think it goes nicely with [name]Evangeline[/name].
I quite like [name]Felix[/name], [name]Theodore[/name] and [name]Asa[/name] from your boys’ list - and no, I don’t think [name]Asa[/name] is too short. [name]Isaiah[/name] is okay, but I’ve met several little Isaiahs recently and it just seems like it’s getting very common. [name]Beckett[/name]'s nice but a little too trendy, I think, with [name]Evangeline[/name] and [name]Reuben[/name]. I’m not really sure how I feel about [name]Indiana[/name], to be honest, but my instinct would be “no” because of [name]Indiana[/name] [name]Jones[/name].
From your girls’ list, my favorites are [name]Coralie[/name] and [name]Valentina[/name]. I’m not a big fan of [name]Ariel[/name] and its variations, and [name]Isabelle[/name], though lovely, is also very common. [name]Isadora[/name] could maybe work, but it always makes me think of [name]Dora[/name] the [name]Explorer[/name].
Oh, I love [name]Theodore[/name]! I think that’s my stand out favorite of your boys choices. For girls, I agree you should probably shelf [name]Genevieve[/name]. I really like all of the names on your list, but I think [name]Isadora[/name] is my favorite with [name]Ariel[/name] close behind. [name]Isadora[/name] has really grown on me over the past months and I would definitely consider it for one of my own. Great choices!
[name]Evangeline[/name], [name]Reuben[/name] & [name]Theodore[/name] is a wonderful sibset, if #3 is a boy!
I agree that [name]Evie[/name] is often a nn for [name]Genevieve[/name], although I’ve heard [name]Viv[/name] as a nn for it too. Which leads me to suggest [name]Vivian[/name]/[name]Vivienne[/name] as an alternative.
I think [name]Coral[/name] is an adorable nn for [name]Coraline[/name]. And if you go with Guienevere, [name]Winnie[/name] can be used a nn, which is too cute!
Some other girl suggestions that would work with your sibset:
Boys:
[name]Isaiah[/name] - I love this name- you could also think of [name]Micah[/name], [name]Noah[/name], [name]Adam[/name]- all traditional and biblical
[name]Felix[/name] - this would sound great with [name]Evie[/name] and [name]Reuban[/name], I think
[name]Theodore[/name] - love this name! It’s one of my favorites
[name]Indiana[/name] - nms at all
[name]Asa[/name] - maybe a bit too short, but I don’t really think so… it is a great name with biblical roots that is unusual and beautiful while also sounding masculine…again, one of my favorite names
[name]Beckett[/name] – this is kind of trendy, kind of classic to me, but I don’t like it as much as [name]Asa[/name] and [name]Theodore[/name]
Girls:
[name]Ariel[/name]/[name]Ariella[/name] - I would use [name]Ariel[/name] over [name]Ariella[/name], but I don’t really like either of them
[name]Isabelle[/name]/[name]Isadora[/name] - both popular but still beautiful
[name]Coraline[/name]/[name]Coralie[/name]/[name]Coral[/name] - I like [name]Coralie[/name] the most, I think- and I love the nn [name]Cora[/name]…[name]Cora[/name], [name]Evie[/name] and [name]Rueban[/name] sound beautiful together!
[name]Valentina[/name] - nms
[name]Clara[/name], [name]Nora[/name]
[name]Penelope[/name] - lots of nn- [name]Penny[/name], [name]Poppy[/name], [name]Nellie[/name]/[name]Nell[/name]
I love your kids names! From the lists you provided I really like [name]Indiana[/name], [name]Asa[/name] or [name]Theodore[/name] for a boy ([name]Evie[/name], [name]Reuben[/name] and [name]Teddy[/name], so cute!) For a girl my favorite is [name]Valentina[/name]. [name]Beckett[/name], [name]Isabelle[/name]/[name]Isadora[/name] and the [name]Cora[/name]- names you listed all seem a bit trendy in comparison to the more classic choices you already have. [name]Ariel[/name]/[name]Ariella[/name] seems a bit dated. [name]Felix[/name] is nice, but just not a name I personally have ever liked for whatever reason. Personally I think [name]Indiana[/name] is perfectly usable. Some other ideas:
[name]Gwendolyn[/name]
[name]Octavia[/name]
[name]Arabella[/name]
[name]Melisande[/name]
[name]Antonia[/name]
[name]Meredith[/name]
[name]Adelaide[/name]
[name]Felicity[/name]
[name]Katerina[/name]
[name]Phoebe[/name]
[name]Bronwyn[/name]
[name]Olwen[/name]
