Yeah, I’m smitten with [name]Thomasina[/name]. I’d like to get your thoughts - good or bad. What image do you get when you picture “[name]Thomasina[/name]?”
I love honest replies, but please don’t make me read something needlessly rude. Thank you!
I think its beautiful! A little much for the modern girl to handle, but I love [name]Eve[/name] [name]Thomasina[/name] from your signature. There’s something about the sound of it that sounds classic and a little steam punk to me. I can see her as the introverted girl who loves to read, or the lead singer in her own rock band.
I really love it! The first image that comes to me is a cat- cause of a Disney movie called The Many Lives of [name]Thomasina[/name] that I loved as a child! My second thought is a girl I went to school with who was gorgeous named [name]Tommie[/name] [name]Jo[/name] or [name]Thomasina[/name] [name]Josephine[/name]…maybe not too many girls could pull that off! I love [name]Thomasina[/name] with something lighter before or after it though. I think [name]Josephine[/name] feels a little tired & [name]Thomasina[/name] feels fresher.
I’m not sure. I like the sound of it, and it seems so British and ethereal, but I have to say I like the diminutive [name]Tamsin[/name] much more. When I think of [name]Thomasina[/name], I invariably think of [name]Lilly[/name] and [name]Thomasina[/name], two transgender children I read about a while ago–which is neither good or bad, just what I always think of. [name]Tamsin[/name] seems much sweeter to me, too, which is why I prefer it, I guess (and more feminine–[name]Thomasina[/name] is obviously a feminization of a traditional boys’ name!).
I do have to say, though, I love the [name]Eve[/name] [name]Thomasina[/name] combo I’ve seen in your signature for a while.
I think it’s spunky. Though it seems a little awkward for me to add a “t” in there. Like Thomastina. That’s cause there is a town I grew up near called Thomastine. Anyways I think [name]Eve[/name] [name]Thomasina[/name] is a great name in your siggy. Are you considering moving [name]Thomasina[/name] to a fn or will you keep it in the mn spot?
I know a woman who was named [name]Thomasina[/name], nicknamed [name]Tommy[/name]. There’s no gentle way to put this: she hated it. And I mean really, absolutely, thoroughly hated it. Everytime someone asked her what her name was she would give them a fake name - [name]Dawn[/name], [name]Cathy[/name], [name]Tracy[/name], etc. (She was about 6 at the time.) She was in elementary school when she found out she had a middle name - apparently it hadn’t come up! - and she has quite happily gone by it ever since. You have to keep in mind, though, that that was decades ago, when shorter, less frilly names were the norm.
I too loved the Disney movie featuring [name]Thomasina[/name] as the cat. I’ve always thought of [name]Thomasina[/name] as a proper and feminine option. And I actually think of it as more feminine than [name]Tamsin[/name]. But I would never use [name]Tommy[/name] as a nn for a daughter… Maybe [name]Tammie[/name] or [name]Tina[/name] or [name]Thea[/name]. I had [name]Thomasina[/name] on our name list and my hubs accused me of making it up. Lol.
I am diggin on [name]Thomasina[/name]. I love it in the first spot or the middle. It feels classic but forgotten. Underused and feminine and pretty. Good luck!
nn [name]Tommy[/name] is not a plus for me. I may reach for something else, Masie, [name]Mina[/name], even [name]Nina[/name]? I like your suggestion of [name]Thea[/name], although I may reserve that for [name]Theodora[/name], which I also love! PS, I believe my husband may have accused me of making up [name]Thomasina[/name] initially too… Haha!
I like it, I think. [name]Thomas[/name] is so delicate as classic boys names go, and [name]Thomasina[/name] is even more delicate. Perhaps too delicate? Thumbelina-like? Of all your names, I think I like [name]Rosemary[/name] and [name]June[/name] most. The more time I spend on nameberry, the more I like simple, direct names. [name]Rosemary[/name] is such a great plant, and the smell of rosemary is powerful and sharp, unlike any other smell. [name]June[/name] is a name that transcends its month-ness. It’s so elegant and simple.
The Three Lives of [name]Thomasina[/name]. It’s an old one… And actually kind of weird. But I liked it as a child because the little girl from [name]Mary[/name] Poppins is in it. Ha.
I have to admit I too prefer the diminutive [name]Tamsin[/name] to [name]Thomasina[/name], it just feels a bit too much to me. Maybe it’s because I love [name]Thomas[/name] on a boy so much, I don’t know. Plus the nickname [name]Tommy[/name] doesn’t sound pretty to me on a girl at all. I think [name]Eve[/name] [name]Thomasina[/name] is a lovely combo though, it makes an interesting middle and I think you’ve got it spot on pairing it with something short and sweet.
If you did want to move it up front though, I’m sure I read a thread a few days ago about someone who knew a [name]Thomasina[/name] who went by [name]Tina[/name], which is another nickname option for you.
I love [name]Thomasina[/name]! My closest friend is Thomasena who goes by [name]Tom[/name] -and it really suits her- so that’s who I think of when I hear the name When some people first meet her they kind of double-take and think to themselves ‘[name]Tom[/name]? On a girl?’ but then it’s ‘Why the hell not?!’ It’s a lovely name that I’d love to see more often!
