I know a few Thors, both with Scandinavian roots and also people with non scandi roots Absolutely cool name and very useable [name_m]Thor[/name_m] [name_m]Adam[/name_m] is amazing!
I think [name_m]Thor[/name_m] is usable! That said, it does seem a bit outlandish next to [name_u]Finn[/name_u] and [name_m]Lucas[/name_m], both of which are very popular, very familiar names, compared to [name_m]Thor[/name_m] which is practically unheard of in non-Nordic countries outside of the god. Maybe you’d like something like [name_m]Thorin[/name_m]! It’s a variation of [name_m]Thor[/name_m], that feels less heavy to wear and less of a stand-out next to [name_u]Finn[/name_u] and [name_m]Lucas[/name_m].
i like it for me personality i have thor on my GP’s name list, but i’d love to see it used on an actual child! and thor adam is pretty nice, but i’d like to see thor paired with maybe a longer middle.
It is bold, but not too outlandish - I guess because it shares sounds with [name_m]Theodore[/name_m], [name_u]Rory[/name_u], [name_u]Cory[/name_u] etc maybe? Equally, [name_u]Loki[/name_u] ranks in the UK top 500s, so
It does feel a bit different to [name_u]Finn[/name_u] and [name_m]Lucas[/name_m] which are fairly popular, but I guess it depends if that bothers you.
[name_m]Thor[/name_m] [name_m]Adam[/name_m] has balance and sounds good
Im not sure… the popularity is very different from your other kids names. It’s probably fine. If it feels right to you I don’t think [name_m]Thor[/name_m] is intrinsically too much.
I think it’s fantastic. However, my personal preference is [name_m]Theodore[/name_m] nn [name_m]Thor[/name_m]. Alone, the name [name_m]Thor[/name_m] is definitely a lot of power. (I love the reminder of worthiness, either way; wearing [name_m]Thor[/name_m] as your name could be a great reminder of the inherent gift of your own worth! Thanks, Norse mythology and modern superheroes.)
[name_m]Thor[/name_m] [name_m]Adam[/name_m] could certainly work.
I’ll add a couple more options.
[name_m]Thorbert[/name_m] nn [name_m]Thor[/name_m]
Thorben nn [name_m]Thor[/name_m]
[name_m]Christopher[/name_m] nn [name_m]Thor[/name_m]
If you love and want to use [name_m]Thor[/name_m] on its own, then go for it. If not, there are plenty of great options out there for full names with the nickname [name_m]Thor[/name_m].
I’m Icelandic, and to me [name_m]Thor[/name_m] ( Þór in Icelandic) is a very normal name. It’s rather common in [name_f]Iceland[/name_f], so to me it doesn’t seem too much at all. I think it’s perfectly usable, even outside the Scandinavian and Nordic countries. And it goes really well with you other sons’ names. [name_m]Thor[/name_m] [name_m]Adam[/name_m] is a nice combo.
I just wanted to add that I know only 1 [name_f]Freya[/name_f] and a lot more Thors (or variations of [name_m]Thor[/name_m] - [name_m]Tor[/name_m], Torstain, [name_m]Torbjorn[/name_m] etc). I really encourage you to use it, it’s no different from [name_f]Freya[/name_f], really. And [name_f]Freya[/name_f] is super popular
