Those names that suddenly *click*

I’m sure I’m not the only berry here who feels a bit meh on a certain name: it feels like you should love it but for some reason it doesn’t hit that sweet spot.

Until suddenly, it just clicks.

I would love to know what names have recently ‘clicked’ for you!

This week, it’s [name_f]Pandora[/name_f] for me!

[name_f]Stella[/name_f]! I’d actively hated the name since I was a kid, until a couple of months ago it clicked so much that now I’d consider the name for a daughter

I tend to love names at first sight, but the one exception is Shiraz. For years it was floating around in the back of my mind, going on and off my list because I knew I should love Shiraz but I just couldn’t bring myself to care. Until suddenly a few months ago, the click happened. It’s the perfect name, full of personal significance, and I’d actually use it which is not common for the names on my list! It’s crazy how I was indifferent about it for years and now suddenly it’s one of my top names!!

[name_f]Edith[/name_f] recently (tempted to say “finally”) clicked for me after seeing it on a sweet young girl character!

[name_f]Sage[/name_f]! It’s sort of been one of those where I know I should have liked it for its nature-based and wise meaning, its soft sounds and unisex feel but something kept putting me off, but then I read a book with a [name_f]Sage[/name_f] and it clicked!

Some other recent ones: [name_f]Pepper[/name_f], [name_m]Ziggy[/name_m], [name_f]Maple[/name_f]

i forgot to mention how [name_f]Pandora[/name_f] clicked for me, I wrote it down and I swear my eyes literally became hearts!!

[name_f]Hadley[/name_f]! I always thought it was so trendy and overdone, but recently all I see is how cozy and warm she is! :teddy_bear:

[name_f]Effie[/name_f] and [name_f]Quinn[/name_f]! I didn’t like [name_f]Effie[/name_f] for the longest time, but saying it out loud and meeting one has made me really like the name. The same for [name_f]Quinn[/name_f], although that only really clicked when I met a little boy called [name_f]Quinn[/name_f] and suddenly it landed that I really prefer it as a boy name.

[name_f]Ava[/name_f] and [name_f]Amelia[/name_f] !

Always steered away because of how popular they are, wasn’t too keen on the sound and I know too many with this name. Some have left great impressions for me, others not so much. But recently I’ve really come to appreciate the beauty that these two names hold♥️

[name_m]John[/name_m] and [name_f]Mary[/name_f].

They were both so popular when I was growing up, and of my classmates, I was in competition with [name_m]John[/name_m] and his sister [name_f]Mary[/name_f] wasn’t very nice to me, so that colored by dislike of the names. At the time I was fascinated by rarified names like [name_m]Giles[/name_m] and [name_f]Paloma[/name_f], so, yeah.

But now, when kids (I’m a teacher) come into my classes with names that include a silent “q” or when they’re [name_m]Majesty[/name_m] or the 15th [name_f]Ava[/name_f], the simplicity and dignity of [name_m]John[/name_m] and [name_f]Mary[/name_f] seems right.

[name_m]Murphy[/name_m] for a boy, I adore the nn Murph :face_holding_back_tears:

It has always floated around my long list, but it clicked the other day when my son said it out loud!

I’ve had quite a few of those lately, for some reason. Most recently: [name_m]Jack[/name_m] & [name_m]Alex[/name_m].

[name_f]Agatha[/name_f], [name_f]Agnes[/name_f], and [name_f]Esme[/name_f] all seemed very drab and lifeless until recently when I began to appreciate their unique sparkle.

I’ve had a lot of names like that! Some names that I kept seeing and didn’t feel anything towards. Then all of a sudden I loved it! Also the reverse where I loved names and then just felt meh on them after a while. [name_m]Or[/name_m] met someone with a name I loved but ended up not liking the person which is the worst because then I hate the name!

Lately I’ve been loving [name_m]Lachlan[/name_m]! I’ve never considered it before but I’m really loving lachie and lachlan

[name_f]Daphne[/name_f] is one for me!! I always knew I should like her but just didn’t very much, and then I started loving [name_m]Daphnis[/name_m] for a boy and all of a sudden she made sense!!

[name_f]Daphne[/name_f]!

Honestly I used to really dislike the name [name_f]Daphne[/name_f] and I didn’t understand why people liked the name. Now I’m really in love with [name_f]Daphne[/name_f] she’s a lovely nature name with Greek mythological roots along with having connections to literature. [name_f]My[/name_f] beloved friend [name_m]Christopher[/name_m] who is now in heaven loved this name with all his heart and so I have this name on my list as an honour for him. Anyways in a nutshell [name_f]Daphne[/name_f] is beautiful

I think it was [name_f]Ally[/name_f] for me. I liked the sounds and the style, and it fit with some of my names. And then like yesterday, the name just clicked for me! Me and my sister have a story with a character named [name_f]Ally[/name_f], (her full name is [name_f]Allison[/name_f] [name_f]Rose[/name_f], just putting because this is a site for namenerds, so you would actually care lol) and I really like her as a character too, so that helped it really click

He’s never been my style and yet, very very recently it just clicked for me as if I saw him with a new pair of eyes and I utterly fell in love with him. I think he’s very handsome and criminally underrated here on the forum

This thread is so very fun to read through!! I love seeing everyone’s name epiphanies! :yellow_heart:

For me, it is [name_f]Christina[/name_f]! It comes as such a surprise to me, as she is not my typical style, but she really is magnificent and regal and just shines! :sparkles: I saw her yesterday for the first time in forever when researching a historical figure, and she just looks and sounds so very lovely and refreshing and sparkly, as does Christiana!! :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:

Lucy!

I always thought she was a bit meh but recently I’ve been loving her, maybe because she’s easier to picture as an actual human, and I love the Narnia connection :snowflake: I also love her paired with a more unusual middle name like Lucy Andromeda :ballet_shoes:
