[name]Asa[/name] is a terrific name and the pronunciation has nothing with that certain a-word to do (then it would have been spelled Assa)
Of your combinations, I really like [name]Asa[/name] [name]James[/name] and [name]Asa[/name] [name]Samuel[/name]. I’ve played around with [name]Asa[/name] [name]Charles[/name] and [name]Asa[/name] [name]Maximilien[/name]/[name]Maximilian[/name] myself.
We would pronounce it ay-sa. The only thing is I don’t like the nick name [name]Ace[/name]. I know eventually I shouldn’t expect to have any control over that matter if we chose that name. We’re not TTC at the moment, so it isn’t urgent that we need a name.
Coincidentally my sister in law has the initials ASP and never had any issues. I know “asp” refers to a snake, but would it really that big of an issue? My cousin’s initials spell out EMS (emergency medical service), coincidentally my initials were ER (emergency room) before I married.
I think [name]Asa[/name] [name]James[/name] sounds awesome! It really doesn’t sound too feminine to me and I definitely think the potential for teasing is much lower than you expect - kids have gotten used to unusual or different-sounding names.
I have not heard of this name until coming to this forum, and I was on another name forum for 5 years. I am not extraordinarily social and have never even opened an actual Bible. I mispronounce a good number of words and names because I read them long before I hear them; I am constantly being corrected on such things.
That said, even with the correct pronunciation (which I vastly prefer to my guesses), I like [name]Asa[/name] [name]James[/name]. The double long-A sound doesn’t bother me, and actually makes the combo sound catchy, if a bit quick.
I don’t think it sounds feminine, but I really dislike it. It’s literally one letter off from a** (and they’re not even that far apart on a keyboard), so the teasing possibilities are crazy. Also, it sort of reminds me of [name]Thisbe[/name] (“this be”) in a way, in that [name]Asa[/name] can be separated into “as a”. I keep reading all your combos like “As a [name]Benjamin[/name]”, “As a [name]James[/name]”. What would be even worse is if you have a word last name: “As a [name]Parker[/name]” or “As a [name]Potter[/name]” for example since iirc your last name is 2 syllables starts with P. I vastly prefer your other boy options, like [name]Lincoln[/name] and [name]Alden[/name].
