We love [name]Asa[/name] for a boy, but are concerned it sounds too feminine. There’s also the possible issue of the name resembling an unfavorable word, though we never saw it in that light until recently. We really love the following combos that go well with our last name:
[name]Asa[/name] might have a feminine sound, but the connotations are manly. I like your three combos, though [name]Asa[/name] [name]Samuel[/name] sounds a little s heavy.
I don’t think [name]Asa[/name] sounds feminine. It may lend itself to teasing, but he just as easily could become [name]Ace[/name]. [name]Asa[/name] [name]James[/name] could be AJ. And by the time he’s an adult and teasing is no longer a concern, [name]Asa[/name] will sound intelligent and refined. I really like [name]Asa[/name], I hope you stick with it!
I’m not into it. Pronounced Ass-uh or [name]Ah[/name]-suh? I get that it isn’t the word, but the sound just doesn’t work for me either way.
I like [name]Asa[/name] [name]James[/name], though; it looks and sounds the best. [name]Asa[/name] might be two syllables, but it’s only three letters. [name]James[/name] is nice and short, but just a bit longer; it creates a balanced combination on paper and in sound.
If pronounced uh-suh(not ass-uh), the name hasn’t got teasing potential. Despite its -a ending, [name]Asa[/name] sounds strong and masculine. I really like [name]Asa[/name] [name]Benjamin[/name] and [name]Asa[/name] [name]James[/name], AJ or [name]Ace[/name] may be a cool nickname.
Some other middle name ideas:
[name]Asa[/name] [name]Crispin[/name]
[name]Asa[/name] [name]Benedict[/name]
[name]Asa[/name] [name]Gideon[/name]
[name]Asa[/name] [name]Zebedee[/name] (if you, like me, find AZ initials rather cool).
I really like the name [name]Asa[/name], but no one in my family seems to get as excited about it as I do. I love the biblical link and the fact that it has always been in top 1000. It is rising in popularity, but it has been doing so slowly (it is only #562). I think that this makes it unique enough that your child will probably not have any classmates with this name, but it is still a very recognizable name. I like [name]Asa[/name] [name]James[/name] the best out of your options.
I didn’t realize [name]Asa[/name] was such a hard name to pronounce. The English pronunciation is AY-suh, similar to [name]Ace[/name] but with an -a on the end.
I don’t think [name]Asa[/name] sound “too feminine” at all. My favorite combo is [name]Asa[/name] [name]Benjamin[/name].
I’ve always heard it like ace-ah or “AY-sah” as scarletrune said, above. I think it does have the potential to be a little confusing, as the pronounciation is not obvious from the spelling. I do think that, with that pronounciation, the a$$ nns are not as obvious, at least for little kids who don’t spell.
Personally, I don’t love it. For some reason, it’s in the small category of Slightly Unusual But Trendy Biblical Names that I Should [name]Love[/name] but [name]Don[/name]'t, along with [name]Asher[/name]. In theory, I think it’s a fine name. In reality, it annoys me.
I don’t like [name]Asa[/name] [name]Samuel[/name], too much sss with the two ‘sa’ sounds right next to each other! Also, the ASP initials. [name]Asa[/name] [name]Benjamin[/name] and [name]Asa[/name] [name]James[/name] are fine combos.
I think [name]Asa[/name] is wonderful! I have only ever heard it pronounced Ay-suh as well. I’m not sure where these alternatives are coming from. I don’t think it sounds feminine at all; it is a very strong and sturdy name in my opinion.
I like [name]Asa[/name] [name]Benjamin[/name] the best, because I think the longer mn balances out the shortness of [name]Asa[/name], but [name]Asa[/name] [name]James[/name] is also nice. I like both [name]Asa[/name] and [name]Samuel[/name] separately, but there is too much ‘s’ sound for my ears.
As someone who grew up watching [name]One[/name] Life To Live, [name]Asa[/name] [name]Buchanan[/name] was anything but feminine, and is the strongest image in my mind with this name. I adore [name]Asa[/name] with the nickname “[name]Ace[/name]”. I like it paired with [name]Benjamin[/name] and [name]James[/name], and am tossing out [name]Asa[/name] [name]Daniel[/name] as a suggestion.
I really dislike [name]Asa[/name]. I just see the naughty word and imagine the teasing possibilities. I don’t find is feminine personally but isn’t there a female middle eastern name the is similar?
[name]Asa[/name] is not confusing pronunciation-wise in my area as far as I know. I grew up with one and he never seemed to run into problems with it. He also was never teased over it, but he was a pretty cool guy so I’m sure even if someone said something he wouldn’t play into it so it wouldn’t be much fun for long! It was shortened to [name]Ace[/name] a lot. I like the name very much, but I’m not really drawn to any of these combos. [name]Asa[/name] [name]Benjamin[/name] works best. [name]Asa[/name] [name]Samuel[/name] throws me with the AS repetition. [name]Asa[/name] [name]James[/name] has too much nasally long A sound repetition imo. [name]Asa[/name] is a great choice though.
