I love [name_f]Louisa[/name_f] [name_f]Anne[/name_f]! I voted for that and [name_f]Clara[/name_f]. I like [name_f]Cora[/name_f] too but I agree [name_f]Cora[/name_f] Kolb could be hard to say. If you were to pick [name_f]Louisa[/name_f], maybe there’s a nickname your parents could use for her that would be easier to say? Like Sou/[name_f]Sue[/name_f] or Susu? (I thought of [name_u]Lou[/name_u], [name_f]Lulu[/name_f], [name_f]Zuzu[/name_f], [name_u]Rue[/name_u] but those might be just as difficult).

Thank you! I feel sad that I’d have to give up my chosen name after it got torn up like that. :frowning: I’m feeling like sticking to it out of principle. lol

[name_f]Clara[/name_f] Kolb and [name_f]Cora[/name_f] Kolb should unfortunately be eliminated. They are beautiful names but they are just too tongue-twisting with Kolb.

I wouldn’t go with [name_f]Gloria[/name_f] [name_u]Jean[/name_u] because I instantly think of the cafe ([name_f]Gloria[/name_f] Jeans). I voted for [name_f]Louisa[/name_f] [name_f]Anne[/name_f] and [name_f]Clara[/name_f] [name_f]Anne[/name_f]. [name_f]Louisa[/name_f] however is my favourite. If you are open to suggestions:

I would stick with the name you already decided on. As a pp said, you could give her a nickname that would be easier to pronounce, which should solve that problem.

I would stick with [name_f]Louisa[/name_f]. It’s gorgeous. Like other posters have suggested, you can always use a nickname that is easier to pronounce. From the letters that you have described your mother has trouble with, it looks like she would have trouble with any name on your list so I would just go with the one you love most.

I voted for [name_f]Gloria[/name_f] and [name_f]Louisa[/name_f]. I say stick to your guns on [name_f]Louisa[/name_f]! If you love the name, use it! I like the suggestions of nicknames that your mother can use that might be easier to pronounce. I think [name_f]Gloria[/name_f] is beautiful and pretty unheard of these days. I think she’s pretty underrated! Although I have a [name_f]Cora[/name_f] of my own, I agree it would be a tongue twister with your last name :slight_smile:

FWIW, I don’t think [name_f]Clara[/name_f] Kolb or [name_f]Cora[/name_f] Kolb are difficult to say at all.

I [name_u]LOVE[/name_u] all of your names, but I agree with others - if R, L, and Z all give your mom trouble, you may as well go with the name you love and already chose ([name_f]Louisa[/name_f]) because [name_f]Clara[/name_f], [name_f]Cora[/name_f], and [name_f]Gloria[/name_f] will ALL cause trouble.

I can think of a few that are a similar style that maybe would be easier for your mother?

I’m choosing to purposefully ignore your father’s insults, because 1) how rude! and 2) you should ignore him too! He named his babies, now it’s your turn. I know that’s easier said than done, but you love the name, your husband loves the name, and that’s really all that matters.
