My husband and I both really like [name_f]Esme[/name_f] but would like to spell it [name_f]Esmae[/name_f] because I feel like she would spend her life correcting people’s mispronunciation. I also would rather her name not be correlated with the Twilight series. So…thoughts on the name and is the spelling change stupid?

I don’t think [name_f]Esme[/name_f] will be too hard to pronounce for most people. And I’m not a big fan of the [name_f]Esmae[/name_f] spelling.
About the Twilight thing, the franchise is vanishing. It’s almost completely faded out of people’s minds already. [name_m]Don[/name_m]'t worry.
I think [name_f]Esme[/name_f] will be just fine! If your daughter has to correct people, so be it, but I feel like the name is easy enough to understand. And millia is right, the Twilight craziness is basically all gone! And your daughter is named after a minor character anyways. Nice choice! 
Let me be the third to say [name_f]Esme[/name_f] is clear enough without altering the spelling, and the Twilight craze is gone.

I think [name_f]Esme[/name_f] is just fine as it is… On the other hand, if she said [name_f]Esmae[/name_f], people would most likely spell it [name_f]Esme[/name_f] because it is the most common spelling…
I’ve always like [name_f]Esme[/name_f] pn Ez-mee (I’d probably spell it [name_f]Esmie[/name_f] if I were to use it, it is OH’s favourite!). I would spell Ez-may [name_f]Esmae[/name_f], [name_f]Esmay[/name_f], or Esmai

[name_f]Esme[/name_f] grates on me
[name_f]Esmee[/name_f] (or Esmée - I’ll accept no accent in many countries) is nicer
Go with [name_f]Esme[/name_f]. It’s unique and special enough not to need a unique or special spelling.
I wouldn’t alter the spelling, and I wouldn’t worry about the Twilight connection either (speaking from someone who loved it, that phase has long gone!)
She’ll probably be correcting people like crazy if you name her [name_f]Esmae[/name_f] as [name_f]Esme[/name_f] is the most common spelling.
Esmé or Esmée!
Go with the classic spelling of [name_f]Esme[/name_f].
