I came across a little [name_m]Alby[/name_m] ([name_m]Alby[/name_m] [name_m]Fox[/name_m]; big sister [name_u]Sage[/name_u] [name_f]Mila[/name_f] [name_u]Wren[/name_u]) on a blog some time ago and instantly fell in love with the name. Now, I dislike [name_m]Albert[/name_m], but [name_m]Alby[/name_m]'s a completely different story - it doesn’t sound heavy or dated, but rather fresh and sweet yet not too cutesy.
It seems like a nickname for either [name_m]Albert[/name_m] or [name_m]Alban[/name_m] rather than a full name to me, but I don’t immediately hate it. [name_m]Plenty[/name_m] of parents are calling their children [name_u]Alfie[/name_u] or [name_m]Archie[/name_m], so [name_m]Alby[/name_m] isn’t too much of a stretch I suppose. Personally I do find it rather “cutesy” and not terribly handsome for a grown man. I can’t really imagine a professional man with the name. Sorry!
I love [name_m]Albie[/name_m] (I prefer the look of this spelling for some reason). In terms of ageing, I think that if names like [name_m]Archie[/name_m] can work, [name_m]Alby[/name_m]/[name_m]Albie[/name_m] definitely can, or maybe it’s just because I live in the UK, so I’m used to it :p. I just love the sound really, and it has a great energetic feel to it, plus it still has the positive meaning of [name_m]Albert[/name_m].
I like [name_m]Alby[/name_m]/[name_m]Albie[/name_m]. My late uncle went by [name_m]Albie[/name_m] (he was [name_m]Albert[/name_m] [name_m]Jr[/name_m]) so the name is familiar to me. I think you should add it to your list if you like it!
NMS but cute. Very nickname-y, but people go by nicknames and/or nicknames are given names all the time. Pretty much any name ages well, when it comes down to it. I like it better than [name_m]Albert[/name_m], but [name_m]Alban[/name_m] is quite nice.
Never heard of this - Googled it and watched an episode on youtube that popped up first…seriously, WTF did I just watch!? Yeah, pretty bad (in so many ways) but not at all a strong/memorable enough association to turn me off the name.
