Thoughts on Alden?

I got some really great ideas and feedback on my last post, and now I’d love to hear any associations or thoughts on the name Alden. My partner and I have had a really hard time finding boy names that we both like, and this was an outside choice for both of us that we are now coming back to consider more seriously.

Right now, we’re thinking of Alden Edward or Alden Elliot, with last name S---- (three syllables).

Older siblings would be Robin (m) and Nola (f).

Thanks!

I like [name_u]Alden[/name_u], though I do prefer [name_u]Alder[/name_u].

However, both [name_u]Alden[/name_u] [name_u]Edward[/name_u] and [name_u]Alden[/name_u] [name_u]Elliot[/name_u] are nice, and [name_u]Robin[/name_u], [name_f]Nola[/name_f] & [name_u]Alden[/name_u] sound great.

[name_u]Alden[/name_u] is such a nice name!!

Ooh I love [name_u]Alden[/name_u] for you!! It’s an interesting and distinctive choice!

[name_u]Alden[/name_u] [name_u]Elliot[/name_u] is sweet

[name_u]Love[/name_u] Alden!! I know a boy named [name_m]Aldin[/name_m] (Bosnian version of Alden) and he’s amazing, so I have nothing but positive associations with this name! I think it’s easy to spell and say, and just has a great meaning overall

I really like it! [name_u]Alden[/name_u] feels fresh but grounded in history, and the meaning “old friend” is just gorgeous.

It would make for a wonderful addition to your sibset. Not predictable as a trio, but all with a retro charm and their own distinctive sounds.

I love [name_u]Alden[/name_u]! It’s not a popular name at all, and I don’t see it getting popular anytime soon, but it’s still a name that feels easy to pronounce, spell, and would fit a child born this decade. I also love it with siblings [name_u]Robin[/name_u] and [name_f]Nola[/name_f]!
Both middle names are lovely, but I prefer [name_u]Alden[/name_u] [name_u]Edward[/name_u] slightly more

Thanks for all the feedback! I really appreciate it. We have focused in on two top contenders (Alden and Simon)-- we have to make a decision very soon but I can’t stop going back and forth between them. It’s almost at the point where I can’t tell how much I like either name anymore. :grimacing:

For [name_m]Simon[/name_m], we would most likely use [name_u]Elliot[/name_u] as the middle name. For [name_u]Alden[/name_u], we are considering [name_u]Alden[/name_u] [name_m]Christopher[/name_m] now too. I didn’t expect it to be so tricky naming our little guy!

[name_u]Alden[/name_u] is lovely, reminds me of the alder tree. I love [name_u]Linden[/name_u] too for a boy, another tree.

I love the name [name_u]Alden[/name_u]. I can imagine brothers [name_u]Robin[/name_u] and [name_u]Alden[/name_u] better than [name_u]Robin[/name_u] and [name_m]Simon[/name_m]. They both have short vowel sounds. The long i sound in [name_m]Simon[/name_m] stands out to me.

On middle names I like [name_u]Alden[/name_u] [name_u]Edward[/name_u].

That’s an association I really liked too. And I love [name_u]Linden[/name_u]!

Thanks! That’s a good point i hadn’t considered.

I like [name_u]Alden[/name_u]. Nice choice. For the middle name, I wouldn’t choose an E. I’d probably want [name_u]Alden[/name_u] [name_m]Jeremy[/name_m] or something with a J.
