Thoughts on Alexis?

[name]Hi[/name] everyone,

I simply wanted some opinions on this name. My husband really likes it a lot, and I do too. We like the nickname [name]Lexi[/name] as well… although I do have a little hang up on whether she’d get the typical “sexy lexi” comments. Not the worst thing to deal with I guess, but still annoys me a bit. Anyway, I sometimes wonder if it’s a bit dated… or also too strong/harsh sounding for a girl. [name]Just[/name] having a hard time making a final decision!!

I’d also love any added suggestions! We have 2 boys right now, [name]Grant[/name] & [name]Carson[/name]… to give an idea of our naming style (and what might flow with their names). Thanks

[name]Alexis[/name] goes nicely with [name]Grant[/name] and [name]Carson[/name]. I don’t think it is too dated. It helps I knew a really nice girl [name]Alexis[/name] when I was in college as well as knowing a current 5 year old. I can see it on an adult as well as a little girl.

I think [name]Alexis[/name] is a bit dated- I grew up with lots’ of little [name]Lexie[/name]'s, [name]Alex[/name]‘s, and [name]Alexis[/name]’. But if it’s a name that you and your husband love, I say go for it.
For names that are of a similar style to [name]Grant[/name] and [name]Carson[/name] (according to nymbler.com), there are: [name]Ava[/name], [name]Charlotte[/name], [name]Tasmin[/name], [name]Teagan[/name], [name]Quinn[/name], [name]Moira[/name], [name]Darcy[/name], [name]Grace[/name] and [name]Nora[/name].

[name]Hope[/name] that helps!

My niece (three months old) is named [name]Alexa[/name]. She’s nicknamed [name]Lexi[/name] and quite a few people have already made the “Sexy [name]Lexi[/name]” comment! I think it’s a nice name, but be aware that there’s a million [name]Alex[/name]'s out there! [name]Alex[/name], [name]Alexa[/name], [name]Alexandra[/name], [name]Alexia[/name], [name]Alexis[/name], [name]Alexander[/name], etc.

Not at all dated! [name]Alexis[/name] is a cute name that goes well with your son’s names.
If you like this name go with it

I find it to be a solid, no-frills name which isn’t dated at all.

The only person I know with the name [name]Alexis[/name] is a darling, spunky, precocious two-year-old – daughter of a fashionable doctor. I like the name and agree it goes well with her brothers’ names.

I think it’s really trendy. There are much nicer ways to get to [name]Lexi[/name], like [name]Alexa[/name] or [name]Alexandra[/name].

[name]Alexis[/name] is very dated [name]IMO[/name]. I knew tons of them with I was little (late 80s/early 90s). And honestly it feels downmarket

[name]Alexa[/name] is gorgeous

I think it’s a tad dated butI can’t pinpoint to where, it seems to have a bunch of [name]Alexis[/name]'s in the 40 year old range, and then a bunch of highschool [name]Alexis[/name]'s, then [name]Alexis[/name]'s in the kindergarten aged range. But I think it’s still usable. I’m just not a huge fan of [name]Lexi[/name] AT ALL.

I guess [name]Alexis[/name] feels slightly dated, but its still being used and its still beautiful  If you like it, go for it! Goes great with the boys names as well <3

I’m really over the name [name]Alexis[/name], but I do like [name]Alexia[/name]. [name]Alexis[/name] fits better with [name]Grant[/name] and [name]Carson[/name] imo.

[name]Alexis[/name] is ridiculously popular were I live because it can be pronounced in both french and English. I don’t really care for it for that reason. I feel like I have been over exposed to it. I also don’t care for nn [name]Lexi[/name], because my mind automatically tags on the word sexy to it.

I have always loved the classic name [name]Alexandra[/name], which was never very popular where I live. It feels fresh and classy, while [name]Alexis[/name] seems less so.

[name]Alexis[/name] seems a bit dated too me. Plus, I also just don’t personally don’t like the sound. I think something like [name]Alexandra[/name] is just so much more gorgeous.

Thanks everyone! I appreciate the thoughts!

I do like [name]Alexa[/name]… although our last name starts with A and has another A in it as well. So I feel like that’s a bit much! Plus I can’t help but look at it & think it looks like half of a name. But I do still think the sound is lovely. [name]Alexandra[/name] is great, I agree… but I know one that we are pretty close too! This is tough. I thought after 2 boys we’d have this decided so easily! But nope, down to a few weeks and we’re still going back & forth!
