Thoughts on Amelie?

My mom and I were talking about Greece today, and she mentioned that her cousin, [name]Angela[/name], goes by [name]Amelia[/name] (in Greek it is pronounce [name]AH[/name]-me-leah) because in the church you have to go by your baptismal name, which has to be the name of a saint. I think that’s what it is. So, I started thinking about [name]Amelie[/name], as it sounds like [name]Ah[/name]-me-leah. What are your thoughts on [name]Amelie[/name]? I’m a bit worried about pronunciation as I grew up with an unpronounceable name. [name]Do[/name] you think the average person would be able to pronounce it right? [name]Do[/name] you prefer [name]Amelia[/name], (normal pronunciation)?
Thanks!

My daughter is an [name]Amelie[/name] and we pronounce it [name]Ah[/name]-meh-lee, which is the only legit pn, as far a I’m away. I love her name and we have little/no pn issues. People have accidentally called her [name]Amelia[/name] upon meeting her but when corrected we’ve rarely had a problem.

I think [name]Amelie[/name] is more stylish than [name]Amelia[/name] and far less popular. I don’t think people will have pronunciation troubles with it.

[name]Amelie[/name] is a gorgeous name and I don’t think they will be many pronunciation problems.

I really like the name [name]Amelie[/name], I don’t think people would pronounce it wrong as there are popular names in the UK with the same ending such as [name]Emily[/name] and people pronounce them fine.

I really like [name]Amelie[/name]. I think of the charming French film starring [name]Audrey[/name] Tatou. I think it’s become familiar enough that it shouldn’t be butchered. However, I can see people mistaking it for [name]Amelia[/name]. You may have to correct people once and a while, but I think it’d be worth it.
[name]Lovely[/name] name, prefer it over [name]Amelia[/name].
