What do you think of the name [name]Anastasia[/name]? It has been growing on me of late…I think mostly because I love the name [name]Asia[/name] but would never give it as a full name because I think a longer more classical name with history gives more flexibility and options! I love that [name]Anastasia[/name] has nn [name]Asia[/name] though as well as elegant [name]Ana[/name] and sweet Tasie/[name]Annie[/name].
Is it too [name]Princess[/name]/[name]OTT[/name] to use though? What middles would you use to make it less girly or princessy and give it a stronger, modern feel?
Also…does anyone just associate it with the singer?! or anything else in particular?
I’ve never heard of 50 shades of grey…is it a tv show? or a movie? perhaps having a reference from popular culture will make the name more usable but I’m not aware of the character so don’t know if its a good thing or a bad thing to be associated with!!
50 Shades of [name]Grey[/name] is a very popular novel toted as being very erotic, though I haven’t read it myself.
I have loved the name [name]Anastasia[/name] for a long time and was sure that I would give the name to my first baby girl. But, I have the same misgivings as you regarding princessiness. For me the princess issue started when Disney remade their [name]Anastasia[/name] movie, although that never really caught on the same way as some of their other princess movies or The [name]Little[/name] Mermaid did. However, I still think it is a gorgeous name with a great meaning and lots of amazing nickname potential. Unfortunately it has slid down the name list for me recently.
oh, and for middle names, I had always thought of pairing it with a short name:
[name]Anastasia[/name] [name]Joy[/name]
[name]Anastasia[/name] [name]Grace[/name]
[name]Anastasia[/name] [name]Hope[/name]
(those 3 go really well with the meaning of the name)
or
[name]Anastasia[/name] [name]Claire[/name]
something like that…
I have a friend named [name]Anastacia[/name] (I think that’s how she spells it) pr ah-na-STA-cee-ah, and that might be another option. They are both beautiful names, and I admit the 50 Shades is a problem. I wouldn’t worry about the Disney movie, nor the princess because I don’t think that many people (kids) know about them anymore.
My cousin’s 2 year-old is named [name]Anastasia[/name]. At first, I thought it was a big name for a little kid, but it has always fit her really well. They never, ever use a nickname (even though when they announced her birth, they said “[name]Anastasia[/name] ([name]Annie[/name])” but then [name]Annie[/name] never stuck). I prefer it without nicknames, too, but [name]Annie[/name] & [name]Anna[/name] are sweet.
She has 2 middle names, one is our (my and my cousin’s) late grandmother’s name, and the other is the name of my cousin’s wife’s aunt.
I think, if you’re looking for strength, use names in the middle which are important to you.
I think [name]Anastasia[/name] is a beautiful name but I could see it shooting up in popularity because of 50 Shades of [name]Grey[/name] but if that doesn’t bother you then it’s a lovely choice. I dislike the nicknames for it though, I find it takes away the beauty of the name; [name]Ann[/name], [name]Annie[/name], [name]Stacey[/name], [name]Stasia[/name] - they all sound too common for me.
I think [name]Anastasia[/name]'s a beautiful name! It’s getting a little too popular for me to use but I’ve always loved it! [name]Anastasia[/name] nn [name]Asia[/name] would be so cute
after 3 boys my girls got princess names so I love it. I know a [name]Anastasia[/name] who goes by [name]Zia[/name] which i loooove. Also i was watching a tv show they called the little girl [name]Stasia[/name] saoudns like stay-za not quite a z sound im not sure but it was pretty. I assumed her full name was [name]Anastasia[/name].
