A pretty popular Instagrammer/Youtuber just had a baby named [name_f]Anna[/name_f] [name_f]Beth[/name_f]. I think it’s so sweet and wholesome and had me thinking of other [name_f]Anna[/name_f]- names. I found [name_f]Annalie[/name_f] and think it’s really sweet, a little uncommon, and has great nickname options. Give me your thoughts! Does it feel too trendy/invented name-ish? [name_u]Will[/name_u] it grow up with the baby nicely? [name_u]Will[/name_u] the spelling be too much of an issue? I really like [name_f]Annalie[/name_f] over [name_f]Annalee[/name_f].
Any names that have a similar vibe? [name_f]Rosalie[/name_f] is on the list already!
This is one I really want to love, everytime I see the name brought up though someone always mentions its similarity to anally which is an unfortunate association.
I’m afraid I agree with the first poster about its teasing potential - I would stay away from Annalie/Annaliese myself, Annalie/Annalee especially. I also don’t think it does justice to the simple grandeur of [name_f]Anna[/name_f].
I like [name_f]Annalie[/name_f] (how unfortunate!!) and adore [name_f]Annabeth[/name_f]. What about [name_f]Annelore[/name_f] ; a combo of [name_u]Anne[/name_u] and [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] said ann-ah-lore or ann-ah-lore-ah?
It’s probably just me, but I didn’t make the association like the other posters here have.
I actually really like it - it’s definitely more a GP name for me and I wouldn’t use it personally, but it’s a good way to get to the nickname [name_f]Annie[/name_f] (which was my intention - I love the [name_f]Ann[/name_f] names for this very reason).
I think to deter from that association, you could spell it [name_f]Anneli[/name_f] or [name_f]Annelie[/name_f].
I once knew a girl called [name_f]Analise[/name_f] (this spelling, you work out the rest), and I don’t think she was teased to my knowledge.
[name_f]Rosalie[/name_f] is nice! I also love [name_f]Rosemary[/name_f].
I think [name_f]Anneline[/name_f] (anna-leen, or however you want to say it) deters from the association even more.
Also, [name_f]Annabeth[/name_f] is lovely - I prefer it more than the separated spelling.
Additionally, here are some other [name_f]Ann[/name_f] adjacent names:
[name_f]Annika[/name_f]
[name_f]Anthea[/name_f]
[name_f]Annabelle[/name_f]
[name_f]Anwen[/name_f]
[name_f]Annetta[/name_f]
Anne-Marie
[name_f]Annabeth[/name_f]
[name_f]Anais[/name_f]
[name_f]Anya[/name_f]
Oh my gosh, I didn’t even think about it!! I have a somewhat thick [name_u]Southern[/name_u] accent and the two are just said so differently, but it’s definitely something to consider. What a bummer!
[name_f]Susannah[/name_f]! So good! I loved this for our first baby, but my husband vetoed it. I wonder if it’s been long enough that he would forget why he didn’t like it ha. It’s so sweet!
The only [name_f]Annaleigh[/name_f] (this spelling—which is my personal favorite) I know of is an adult. I think her name is beautiful.
I also didn’t ever make the association with anally. Maybe because anally isn’t a word I use pretty much ever (not to say that others do, just that it isn’t intuitive to me), maybe also because it’s pronounced AY-nuh and the name is ANN-uh.
I really like [name_f]Annalie[/name_f]! I think it’s very cute for a little girl but still would work for an adult woman. Some fun nickname options, but the full name sounds nice too.
There’s also [name_f]Annemarie[/name_f] and Annarose which I think are lovely.
Honestly my first thought was that saying [name_f]Annalie[/name_f] sounds like a mispronounciation of Amalie/Amelie which I prefer to [name_f]Annalie[/name_f]
But love Annelise/Anneliese or [name_f]Annalisa[/name_f]
