Thoughts on Ariella Hope?

My second daughter is due in 6 weeks and we are having the hardest time picking a name. [name_f]Ariella[/name_f] [name_f]Hope[/name_f] is the running favorite.

My first daughter is named [name_f]Aviana[/name_f] [name_f]Grace[/name_f] and we call her [name_u]Avi[/name_u] (ahh-vee). I really like the middle name [name_f]Hope[/name_f], which compliments [name_f]Grace[/name_f]. This is the first name that my hubs loves that I’ve suggested.

Our last name is Gomez, so ending the name in an “A” is kind of natural for the flow. I obviously gravitate to flowery ultra feminine names. Considering all that I’ve mentioned, what are your thoughts or alternate suggestions?

Also, would you pronounce it like “air-iella” or “are-iella” and what’s your favorite nickname?

I think [name_f]Ariella[/name_f] [name_f]Hope[/name_f] is gorgeous.

Although, [name_f]Ariella[/name_f] and [name_f]Aviana[/name_f] are written in a similar way, they have very different sounds. I like it!
I would pronounce [name_f]Ariella[/name_f] “are-iella” and my favorite nickname for it is [name_u]Ari[/name_u] (AREE).
However, [name_u]Ari[/name_u] and [name_u]Avi[/name_u] seem the same, so what about [name_f]Ella[/name_f] or Ells as nn?

i adore [name_f]Ariella[/name_f]! I’d pronounce it as are-iella as well, and I like the suggestion of using the nickname [name_f]Ella[/name_f]. [name_f]Aria[/name_f] might also work.

I’m glad you guys like it. I was thinking of using [name_f]Ellie[/name_f] as a nickname. I agree that [name_u]Avi[/name_u] and [name_u]Ari[/name_u] are both similar. I don’t really mind that much but both [name_u]Avi[/name_u] and [name_u]Ari[/name_u] are boys names. I didn’t even know that until just recently researching nn for [name_f]Ariella[/name_f]. I was leaning towards Are-iella as well. Especially if I choose [name_u]Ari[/name_u] as a nickname otherwise it would rhyme with “Hairy”. Lol.

Also I’ve seen some other comments that the name conjures up “areola”. Thoughts on this?

[name_f]Arielle[/name_f] [name_f]Hope[/name_f] & [name_f]Aviana[/name_f] [name_f]Grace[/name_f] are beautiful together! I would pronounce it ARE-IELLA.

I’m not sure where the areola association comes from. I didn’t even think of it.

I think it’s beautiful. The sister names compliment each other so well.

[name_f]Ariella[/name_f] [name_f]Hope[/name_f] is beautiful and sounds great next to [name_f]Aviana[/name_f] [name_f]Grace[/name_f]. I think [name_f]Ella[/name_f]/ [name_f]Ellie[/name_f] is a cute nn next to [name_u]Avi[/name_u] as well.

I ABSOLUTELY love the name [name_f]Ariella[/name_f]! [name_m]Just[/name_m] love it. And I think that since the older sis middle name is [name_f]Grace[/name_f], [name_f]Hope[/name_f] would be a great choice for little [name_f]Ariella[/name_f]'s name.

I love [name_f]Ariella[/name_f], and [name_f]Ariella[/name_f] [name_f]Hope[/name_f] is very sweet! [name_u]Ari[/name_u] is by far my favorite nn, but I agree that it’s out with [name_f]Aviana[/name_f] “[name_u]Avi[/name_u]”. Personally, I feel like [name_f]Aviana[/name_f] [name_f]Grace[/name_f] and [name_f]Ariella[/name_f] [name_f]Hope[/name_f] are too matchy–they both start with the A[consonant]i- -a construction, with a familiar, one-syllable virtue middle. Sure, [name_f]Ariella[/name_f] and [name_f]Aviana[/name_f] sound rather distinct, but together, [name_f]Aviana[/name_f] [name_f]Grace[/name_f] and [name_f]Ariella[/name_f] [name_f]Hope[/name_f] is a bit much for me, unfortunately. I think [name_f]Aviana[/name_f] and [name_f]Arabella[/name_f] is even better. Which, it pains me to say, because [name_f]Ariella[/name_f]‘s one of my very favorite girls’ names, but I can’t unsee it. :frowning: I do say air-ee-ella, and air-ee. ah-vee and air-ee is still pretty matchy, though. [name_u]Avi[/name_u] and [name_f]Ellie[/name_f] is nice, but I like [name_u]Avi[/name_u] and [name_f]Ella[/name_f] even more.

I have heard the areola tie quite a lot, so it seems to be fairly prevalent, but I personally don’t have that association. [name_m]Even[/name_m] though I’ve heard it, it hasn’t dissuaded me from [name_f]Ariella[/name_f] as a name.

Good luck!

I love it! I also adore your older daughters name and I think they go so well together. I pronounce it like are-iella. I really like the idea of nn [name_u]Ari[/name_u], I think that works super well with [name_u]Avi[/name_u].
Other nn ideas:
[name_f]Ree[/name_f]
[name_f]Ella[/name_f]
[name_f]Elly[/name_f]
[name_f]Lea[/name_f]
[name_f]Rella[/name_f]
Relly
[name_f]Ria[/name_f]

I appreciate all of this feedback. It really is so helpful. [name_m]Even[/name_m] the dissenting feedback about both kids’ names being too matchy. To be honest, I like how close the names are with both starting with an “a” consonant “I”. I considered that and it makes me feel like the girls are more cemented as sisters. Kind of corny, I know, but I’m over the moon excited about having two girls and [name_u]Avi[/name_u] is so excited about her baby sister. I still feel like the names are distinct enough that they won’t sound like matchy twins. Please keep the feedback coming.

I like it! I pronounce [name_f]Ariella[/name_f] as air-ree-ella (like airy and then [name_f]Ella[/name_f]), but I pronounce [name_u]Ariel[/name_u] like air-ree-elle which is why.

I naturally pronounce it as [name_f]Air[/name_f]-iella too but I would change it I think because of the potential for silly nicknames - [name_f]Ariella[/name_f] rhymes with hairy fella. lol so dumb I know but even [name_u]Ari[/name_u] could be hairy [name_u]Ari[/name_u]. Maybe it doesn’t matter but I try to avoid easy targets.

It’s beautiful and will stand out

[name_f]Ariella[/name_f] [name_f]Hope[/name_f] is pretty!
I say is air-iella.
