Thoughts on Artemisia & Araminta.

These two have been on my long list for a long time, but I’ve recently really fallen for both.

I really love all of the history (and bad-ass historical figures) attached to [name_f]Artemisia[/name_f] in regard to fine art, architecture, mythology and nature. I also really like the (albeit extremely cutesy) nickname of Artsie. I actually prefer [name_f]Artemisia[/name_f] as a first name, and have [name_f]Artemisia[/name_f] [name_f]Blythe[/name_f] on my list as combo at the moment, which I adore.

[name_f]Araminta[/name_f] I enjoy because of it’s sound and look, and the fact that it isn’t Greek (I have so many Greek favourites that I’ve found that they become really hard to pair for combos). I like the idea of sweet yet strong little [name_f]Amity[/name_f] as a potential nickname though tend to prefer the name in full (I’m not so fond of [name_f]Minty[/name_f]). I’m not so sure as to combos for [name_f]Araminta[/name_f], though I tentatively have [name_f]Araminta[/name_f] [name_f]Gaia[/name_f] & [name_f]Juno[/name_f] [name_f]Araminta[/name_f] on my list currently.

My partner doesn’t really like the idea of nicknames, and would likely really only ever call our child by their full first name 99% of the time, so with this in mind, are [name_f]Artemisia[/name_f] &/ [name_f]Araminta[/name_f] too lengthy for this do you think?

I also have many Ar- names I adore other than these two with [name_f]Ariadne[/name_f] being my longest love. I also adore just [name_u]Ari[/name_u] for a boy, and so, so many A- names in general for both genders, so that also makes it hard pairing combos.

Any thoughts and opinions welcome!

[name_f]Artemisia[/name_f] is fantastic and Artsie is so cute! I like the way the name flows easily as you say it! [name_f]Artemisia[/name_f] [name_f]Blythe[/name_f] is so light and lithe

[name_f]Araminta[/name_f] is quite nice and I find it’s sounds so intrifuiing, though i must admit, I it find it a little harder to say for some reason, a little clunky. That said, [name_f]Amity[/name_f] as a nn is delightful and i adore [name_f]Juno[/name_f] [name_f]Araminta[/name_f] -what a fantastic combo!!

@greyblue: Thank you for your response, I very much appreciate it. [name_f]Artemisia[/name_f] really does have a great flow when said aloud. I understand what you mean about [name_f]Araminta[/name_f]'s slight clunkiness (I think it’s the ‘mint’ sound) though I don’t mind that so much, as for me it seems to ground it just a little more.

I really like both names, both are strong and badass and ready to take over the world.

[name_f]Artemisia[/name_f] - I prefer [name_u]Artemis[/name_u] but [name_f]Artemisia[/name_f] is also gorgeous. [name_f]Artemisia[/name_f] [name_f]Blythe[/name_f] is lovely.

[name_f]Araminta[/name_f] - this name is a bit unfamiliar to me, though it reminds me of [name_f]Arabelle[/name_f] and I love that name. [name_f]Amity[/name_f] is a cool nn

[name_f]Artemisia[/name_f] - I agree with pp, I do prefer [name_u]Artemis[/name_u], but I think [name_f]Artemisia[/name_f] is gorgeous too. I love the combo [name_f]Artemisia[/name_f] [name_f]Blythe[/name_f].

[name_f]Araminta[/name_f] - personally not a fan of this, though I can’t put my finger on why. However, I [name_u]LOVE[/name_u] the nickname [name_f]Amity[/name_f], and I’m going to go do some research so I can consider adding it to my list, I never really thought about it before!

Good luck!

[SUB]i love both[/SUB]

Both names are beautiful! I love [name_f]Artemisia[/name_f]! It is so unique and powerful. [name_f]Araminta[/name_f] is very interesting and distinctive. [name_f]Juno[/name_f] [name_f]Araminta[/name_f] and [name_f]Artemisia[/name_f] [name_f]Blythe[/name_f] are stunning combinations.

@renee seance – Yes, they do feel strong and bad-ass, especially [name_f]Artemisia[/name_f], but also have this great, gentle, whimsical femininity to them, and I love that about them. I do love [name_u]Artemis[/name_u] too, but I fell for [name_f]Artemisia[/name_f] after studying the brilliant Gentileschi. [name_f]Artemisia[/name_f] is derived from goddess [name_u]Artemis[/name_u] too, so a two-in-one so to speak.
@tileishamaree – It might me the prominent MINT sound (that put me off for quite a while). I’d always really liked the idea of [name_f]Araminta[/name_f], but I just wasn’t so keen on the potential ‘[name_f]Minty[/name_f]’ nickname. It occurred to me while going through my long list that [name_f]Araminta[/name_f] ‘[name_f]Amity[/name_f]’ makes sense - far less intuitive, but I don’t mind that at all, and though both completely separate names, they’re both rare-ish English names, so I think it works well that way too.
@estrela – Yes, [name_f]Artemisia[/name_f] definitely has such strength and power, but as said above, also has sucha beautiful femininity and that balance I adore.
Thank you all for you comments.

I’m happy to see my combos are being received so well. I’m loving both [name_f]Artemisia[/name_f] [name_f]Blythe[/name_f] (I feel [name_f]Blythe[/name_f] grounds the ‘frillier’ [name_f]Artemisia[/name_f]) and [name_f]Juno[/name_f] [name_f]Araminta[/name_f] (this one is particularly unexpected, and I love that)!
